I don't find it stressful, just... boring. Like a long bus ride without at least a good view (starting and landing gives great views, over the clouds is cool, but not for that amount of time). Would the boredom get away with a whole bunch of people singing, or "singing"? Probably not, but it would definitely be annoying, pulling on my nerves and it would prevent me from doing something against the original boredom, like reading a book, watching a movie/show, or talking to my husband (or whoever is with me). So, frick that shlt. (Unless it's for ONE shortish song, that's fine, have fun and then shut up.)
I feel like it cus peoples singing together seems fun to me. But even if i like when groups of people get together to have fun it is not ok to do that on a plane beacause it is a tight and small environment where a lot of people just want to relax because they're nervous 😕

I will say there's a certain section of the fandom that's very young girls (not the majority the majority is actually people who have grown up with her) and like all young girls they go overboard but whatever that's what kids do. As a fan of a lot of things Taylor Swift, marvel, Harry Potter, Sherlock, etc etc I'm more sick of people tearing apart what people like. It's exhausting. Okay so I actually have a theory regarding the spike in popularity. 1. The fans who grew up on her earlier music are now adults who can earn their own money to spend on tickets, vinyls, CDs, merch, etc. After all, nostalgia is a hell of a drug and this music has been ingrained in many people from a young age. 2. The pandemic pushed everyone online for their social lives leading to a big boom in online fandom activity. I know a lot of fandoms for things I enjoy got a big activity boost at the time as well. These connections just now finally clicked together in my brain but I think this makes a lot of sense.
It's lowkey sad to see that people, in general, compete about interests, like "Oh you like this? Okay prove it." or "Well I actually like this more than you" like that is the point of it. It takes out the whole thing in liking something😭
I remember reading that Ticketmaster had huge issues with how the ticket sales were going, dunno much about it, but it must have been sold out the minute it got put on sale. Thank goodness I listen to artists who don't go out so fast, like Ghost. I was so scared the same is going to happen with them but thankfully a ticket for me is still waiting at a very good spot ♥

The missing context for the Bad Blood reaction: those girls were in shock because Taylor started yelling at some security guards who were being way too rough with fans who were close to the barricades. She was telling them to stop in between singing the song and it was out of nowhere, hence the surprise and jaw drops. Swiftie culture is wild, to put it mildly. It's gotten way out of hand in recent years due to her releasing so much content and with how high in demand the Eras Tour has become. And you're right about TikTok helping that along, it's conditioned a lot of fans to expect instant gratification and given them a platform to dive deep into the most bizarre Easter egg hunts that I've ever seen. She gained a lot of popularity after folklore and evermore were released, and that's also divided Swifites in terms of who's "real" and who's "fake", i.e. people who want more folklore/evermore sounding music and complaining that she's going back to pop are "fake". (I don't think they are, they just don't understand that she's mainly a pop singer, and complaining isn't going to change that.) Becoming a fan after Reputation dropped is also a red flag to some Swifties...that dude in the Jubilee video who said he didn't like her until he met his girlfriend? The immediate reaction from the other contestants (the way they all leaned forward and kind of had that "dude for real?" vibe) was probably due to them thinking he was the mole, but at first I honestly thought it was because they were ready to rip him to shreds, because if you've EVER disliked her for ANY reason, you're in the wrong, and this is especially true if you only started listening to her and being a fan after she came back with new music in 2017 after laying low for so long. It's just such a toxic environment on the internet and it's difficult to navigate when at any moment saying the "wrong" thing can get you dogpiled in seconds. A Court of Thorns and Roses has a similar fandom in terms of criticism and fanaticism, and I've learned that the hard way: don't you dare say anything negative or wrong, because otherwise you'll get private quote tweeted to hell and you'll get blocked and people will tell you you're an idiot. It's not fun and it's terrifying, honestly. It's gone beyond getting excited for new music, it's studying every single thing she says and does and assigning meaning to it to predict the next time she'll release something. It's getting upset when she doesn't play a certain surprise song or changes the setlist for the Eras Tour. It's going after her exes with awful jokes and death threats and who knows what else because heaven forbid we be normal. Again, I'm so sorry for the massive comment. I loved this video and it had me laughing and really thinking about just how out of control Swiftie culture has become.

You are right Joinen, the Eras tour was a big part of it, she gained ALOT of new young fans obsessing about her relationships and did not tour at all after releasing multiple albums - the tour itself is so massive. If you are TS fan, but cannot separate her art/music, her as a human being, and her business (plenty to criticise on her journey to becoming a billionaire). People who arent fans are sick of her and will only want to talk in negative points and will completely dehumanise her. For me - the breaking point i saw was when a bunch of fans rocked up to her friends engagement party just to sew her. There are very few musical artists I would genuinely call "inspirational" to me, and that's because they genuinely did good besides just advocating for the "current social cause" in their songs, and even then I by no means hold them to a standard higher than just a regular human being who has human flaws.

Not quite a plane ride, but I remember many years ago I was on the bus to a green day concert and people started singing when I come around. IIRC it was timed pretty well because everyone got off the bus shortly after the song ended. People being annoying on their way to a concert isn't exactly new. I am a swiftie and while I do think any fan of anything can get extreme and it can get frustating and annoying. The Taylor Swift thing is specifically because for years and still now people have been so rude to Taylor Swift fans. Even if you're totally normal about it. It happens to me all the time. If you were a Taylor Swift fan during the Kim and Kanye crap you were treated like crap. So now it's swung to the opposite side of pure defiance and over the top. I will say there's a certain section of the fandom that's very young girls (not the majority the majority is actually people who have grown up with her) and like all young girls they go overboard but whatever that's what kids do. As a fan of a lot of things Taylor Swift, marvel, Harry Potter, Sherlock, etc etc I'm more sick of people tearing apart what people like. It's exhausting. I have also never been to her concerts because I can't afford it so... 🤷🏼♂️

Okay so I actually have a theory regarding the spike in popularity.
1. The fans who grew up on her earlier music are now adults who can earn their own money to spend on tickets, vinyls, CDs, merch, etc. After all, nostalgia is a hell of a drug and this music has been ingrained in many people from a young age.
2. The pandemic pushed everyone online for their social lives leading to a big boom in online fandom activity. I know a lot of fandoms for things I enjoy got a big activity boost at the time as well.
These connections just now finally clicked together in my brain but I think this makes a lot of sense.
It's lowkey sad to see that people, in general, compete about interests, like "Oh you like this? Okay prove it." or "Well I actually like this more than you" like that is the point of it.

The missing context for the Bad Blood reaction: those girls were in shock because Taylor started yelling at some security guards who were being way too rough with fans who were close to the barricades. She was telling them to stop in between singing the song and it was out of nowhere, hence the surprise and jaw drops.
Swiftie culture is wild, to put it mildly. It's gotten way out of hand in recent years due to her releasing so much content and with how high in demand the Eras Tour has become. And you're right about TikTok helping that along, it's conditioned a lot of fans to expect instant gratification and given them a platform to dive deep into the most bizarre Easter egg hunts that I've ever seen. She gained a lot of popularity after folklore and evermore were released, and that's also divided Swifites in terms of who's "real" and who's "fake", i.e. people who want more folklore/evermore sounding music and complaining that she's going back to pop are "fake". (I don't think they are, they just don't understand that she's mainly a pop singer, and complaining isn't going to change that.) Becoming a fan after Reputation dropped is also a red flag to some Swifties...that dude in the Jubilee video who said he didn't like her until he met his girlfriend? The immediate reaction from the other contestants (the way they all leaned forward and kind of had that "dude for real?" vibe) was probably due to them thinking he was the mole, but at first I honestly thought it was because they were ready to rip him to shreds, because if you've EVER disliked her for ANY reason, you're in the wrong, and this is especially true if you only started listening to her and being a fan after she came back with new music in 2017 after laying low for so long.
It's just such a toxic environment on the internet and it's difficult to navigate when at any moment saying the "wrong" thing can get you dogpiled in seconds. A Court of Thorns and Roses has a similar fandom in terms of criticism and fanaticism, and I've learned that the hard way: don't you dare say anything negative or wrong, because otherwise you'll get private quote tweeted to hell and you'll get blocked and people will tell you you're an idiot. It's not fun and it's terrifying, honestly. It's gone beyond getting excited for new music, it's studying every single thing she says and does and assigning meaning to it to predict the next time she'll release something. It's getting upset when she doesn't play a certain surprise song or changes the setlist for the Eras Tour. It's going after her exes with awful jokes and death threats and who knows what else because heaven forbid we be normal.

You are right Joinen, the Eras tour was a big part of it, she gained ALOT of new young fans obsessing about her relationships and did not tour at all after releasing multiple albums - the tour itself is so massive.
There is an entire sub section of TS fans who have gone off the deep end with their parasocial relationship. It makes her a very polarising figure, which is frustrating.
If you are TS fan, but cannot separate her art/music, her as a human being, and her business (plenty to criticise on her journey to becoming a billionaire).
People who arent fans are sick of her and will only want to talk in negative points and will completely dehumanise her.

I have a few bands and musicians that I'm fans of, and I like to read up about trivia around albums, songs, band members, etc. and I enjoy buying T-shirts and records from those bands, but comparatively, my level of obsession is pretty milktoast in comparison to these people. Perhaps I'm just humbled by the fact that all the bands I'm fans of are old and obscure, and the people I know who are also fans of them are older people who are just glad to know that a younger person takes interest in their kind of music. I have nothing on these people.

Chasing your dreams and your interests? I guess you could say that but that's... generic.
