My own theory about why Thermidor changed sides has to do with Strayed in particular. Bear in mind that Odstarva shows up late in the fight, so I think Omer’s plan involved allowing Wynne and Roy to get themselves killed while softening up Strayed. After that, Strayed would presumably be weak enough for Odstarva to finish the job and carry out the Closed Plan for Omer. Assuming Strayed died first, Odstarva would simply kill whoever’s left and continue as before. Oh god, the insanity of Strayed could be explained this way. Josh was piloting that abomination Porto-NEXT when he was defeated. Dunno what the time frame of those effecting their pilots is but it could’ve effected him long term.
The 00-ARETHA and 02-B of Rayleonard's product line were considered a bust because the ARETHA's AMS demands too much from the pilot and the B exudes too much Kojima particles. Joshua is said to be a pilot with excellent AMS capabilities and compatibility. Aspina is also a place where AMS is something they research. This is why in AC4A, CUBE was made. Joshua is basically an anomaly when it comes to AMS. The fact that Omer Science was also reviving the ARETHA project means that it is less likely to kill Joshua. ARETHA is also different from the regular NEXT so we don't know whether or not it just went offline as it wasn't clear that it got destroyed. Regardless of which, The Strayed being pointed out to be Joshua is strong because Interior Union or Leonemerica is based on Europe and Anatolia is in Turkey. Europe was extremely ravaged during the Economic War (since the whole start of this was GA America trying to keep GA Europe from splitting and the rest just jumped on it). @@InternetHydra
I absolutely love this theory because it just makes Strayed more than a random Raven like Anatolia's merc but rather gives credence to why he'd choose the various paths. Is it revenge? Redemption? Or a choice to bring it all down.
I don't believe Raven is random though. There was some hints that AC4 were the aftermath of AC3. But yeah, I think this is when Miyazaki is trying to move away from the conventional arcade style that AC series was and more into RPG. Yet, he truly has a big obsession with Berserk and we can just follow along with how Berserk tells its story. I mean you can see the whole ending with SEED A BAREN EARTH and know that it's Femto, Berserk Armor, is what the ARETHA was trying to capture. @@Allnatural-10b
Actually, something to mention is that the Anatolia's merc is the most experienced pilot in all of Armored Core history. If he intended to kill Otsdarva, he would be dead. Stasis isn't a better pilot than Anjou, or Berlioz after all. As those pilots are truly beyond any we face in ACFA. And Joshua O'Brien is considered a legend after all, and Anatolia's Merc far surpassed him. Defend/Defeat white glint is likely a deal. Otsdarva has to fake his death. Anatolia's merc wants to get out of the mercenary business and get away from The League and Collared. The assumption to be made is that Otsdarva likely set up several plans to aid Anatolia's merc's escape from that life, so long as neither party kills eachother. Not to mention, the mission is a farce and was setup by Omer (who leads The League. They literally have the most power, after all) so that Otsdarva could form ORCA and execute the closed plan. However, since the League ending is the canon ending, it must eventually become clear that ORCA was going to fail, and so while the league tries to turn a blind eye, Wynn D. Fanchon and Strayed defeat them, and then League proceeds to finish off the ORCA brigade. Kind of hilarious, they do anything to hide their dirty laundry. After all, the 2010 book states LineArk has a stable condition Lynx. And that LineArk is still doing fine.
The new order of next book does state about them having a next pilot ready as i found after translating fiona's interview. As you say it is all possible we never get to see behind the closed door of Anatolia's mercenaries private life perhaps he had grown tired of fight for a lost cause or that the league cut line ark a deal. We have to go with what information we have that said i think this has allowed a range of theories, ideas and conversation like this one to happen so i think this has only done good in the end. As for comparing lynxs its always going to be tricky issue. After all we can say an older pilot is better then a new one, but that's not always the case as a newer pilots new ways of thinking and training could trip up older pilots along with medical factors, personal experiences and luck.
@armoredcorelore White Glint is special though. 1.00 White Glint hard mode is stronger than some of the best players in the world, and is the hardest fight of any AC mission.
Makes me wonder if Ostdarva collected the Reversed jointed model from the deceased pilot Zanni. he was the only pilot who put the model to full use in the LYNX wars, and to also see Thermidor (Otsdarva) utilizing the model is not far from that possibility considering he's also the only LYNX using it in For Answer.
@@andrewrogers3067 So was The 00 Aretha, yet ORCA somehow manage to fully optimize the machine on the battlefield again with full capacity. there's plenty of Irregulars who have mixed parts placed on their NEXTs likely as a result of finding spare parts from dead LYNX. Or at least that's the indication of it. with the exception of Neo Nidus as the only LYNX fully Utilizing a full ARGYROS model. and Shinkai Getting a full Upgrade on his Model with Booster Backs, a machine gun, and a Moonlight Blade to tribute Anjou.
Theory about Zanny. What if he is Ots himself. Think if he isnt on the rankboard of AC4 since when did he get an Alicia and how his claim of being ex rayleonard lynx make sense ? Also ots faked his death multiple time so its not out of the question.

Speaking of scrapped part its very easy to get it clean from a next. As when a Next get disabled its just the pilot that died most of the time from the neural connection damage for being connected to their machine.
@@Errorcutive I support that theory for numerous reasons for similar reasons you posted. nonetheless however i wouldn't jump on the band wagon for the reason afterwards: 1st is that Otsdarva has numerous similarities with certain pilots. his Craft bears that similarity with Zannis NEXT Roughcut, having an Assault rifle on the right, a laser weapon on the left, and missiles on the back right, suspiciously, this loadout carries over to Unsung. with the difference is that he has a plasma cannon on the back left, With Ostdarva being Rank 1 on Collards rank, this also puts him in the spotlight as Berlioz did in the LYNX originals, Unsung seems to be a referencial material to Supplice. this however might be a coincidence, as other NEXTS can arguably have the same similarities and we're just overthinking it. HOWEVER- 2nd, Otsdarva seems to be noted as the Only notable Rayleonard Employee within Omer science that ties into Thermidors Background Quote: "He fights to carry out the Closed Plan in Rayleonard's stead." Suggesting that he is one of the few (if not many) individuals of Rayleonard that knows the details and exact specifications of the closed plan. this once again connects to the potential possibility that he may have worked close with Berlioz and his Elite squad, and once again through that coincidence, Zanni is one of those elite members which can cut down to the next possabilities- 3rd, the names are another big hint, though another possible coincidence, nonetheless listen to this: Zanni is a Commedia dell'arte, known for tricksters and comedic performances, it was Strange for Zanni to have this name despite having no particular meaning to it with Both his NEXT and his reputation on the battlefield. Like how Berlioz is based off from the famous Hector Berlioz, and Supplice is a french word for "torture" as the mission is code named "Marche du supplice" = "March to torture" to tribute his famous music piece. or like how Unseels name means "to open the eyes" which reflects his skill as a sniper pilot, and his next Red Cap is based off of the Red Cap goblin for its murderous and aggressive behavior killing and brutally killing its victims. while Zannis Next and Emblem (roughcut) have that same intent with Redcap. the pilots name "Zanni" has been a rather strange pick for the occasion. taking it a step further when the names. Both Thermidor and Berlioz are French inspired figures. this further connects the possibility that either Berlioz was idolized or tributed by Otsdarva under the guise, or that Berlioz is Thermidor, but that's rather unlikely or unconvinced, since it would make more sense for Zanni to be both Thermidor, and Otsdarva for these reasons. Having said that Otsdarva and Thermidor are Zannis identities, we can potentially assume that all three of these names are faked or false. While knowing what both Thermidor and Zannis name is, Otsdarva is 28 in Georgian language, which historically: Maximilien Robespierre another French figure was executed on July 28. Thermidors actions in both Collard and ORCA ending have reflected on Zannis name, being that this entire set up of the closed plan was a comedic show, and that Ostdarva tricked both sides. with his Betrayal in the ORCA ending being as if he pranked the entire organization for amusement. Its enough to make Oldking say: "You think you're some kind of One Man Army? You think it's *your right to choose who lives and dies?* " that supports Oldkings sickened by Ostdarvas behavior as both an ORCA leader and a so called "revolutionist" Though despite these theories I posted, Im expecting alot of those who will disagree for the over-thinking process of this statement, and there will be those who will point out the loop holes and flaws, by the end of the day. Fromsoft won't just tell the fans what really happened. guess its up to our interpretation and perceive what's canon and whats not. when i suppose that in reality, all endings will still lead to the same conclusion, the decline of the human race, and it's inevitable continuation for strife and war.
I think somewhere in fromsoft tradition dictates that Blue Dudes always dies in a backstab/redemption arc. Evangel, Artorias and Ostdarva is poster boy for this. Speaking of evangel, ostdarva is basicly a what if of evangel if he actually got good, quit his inferiority syndrome and got chaddened. Btw can i ask for a video on Sherring/Critique or in general the Hilbert-G7 or the argyros and Neo Nidus/Gachirin?. Its a i wonder what you think of the heavy energy type tbh.
There is a pattern and i will add them to my list as i should do a Sherring one, since it was a video on said lynx that made me want to start this channel.
Unsung is not overweight in 1.0 and 1.1 regulations. The 04-Marve assault rifle has some of the highest DPS in the game, especially when combined with the PA attenuation of the TRESOR plasma cannon. It has good energy output with S08-MAXWELL (41157 in 1.0, 2nd only to GN-SOBRERO's 41168) and the CB-JUDITH main booster means it can remain in the air indefinitely. The combination of weapons has good synergy, while his laser rifle and missiles are decent for opponents further away. Assault Armor was also extremely good in the initial versions of the game. The AC's only real fault is that it doesn't have a shoulder unit, namely flares or missile extensions, though it would also take more FRS tuning to fit it on the Load, and Thermidor has yet to S rank all the hard missions to earn those last 12 points. 😮💨 The A.I. doesn't utilize the AC that amazingly, and it's not a particularly hard fight (beyond just fighting 3 AC's in one mission) which leads to the general impression it's not that strong. Stasis is very similar across all regulations, and can be quite annoying with its AB-HOLOFERNES side boosters (the best in the game!) so it earns its notoriety as a boss-fight AC, but I actually think its damage output is kind of low. The AR-0700 is a weaker (and lighter, with a higher magazine capacity in 1.1 and onwards) version of Rayleonard's 04-Marve, but made by Omer. You never face Stasis alone in the story, so it could be adding to the idea that Otsdarva simply wants to minimize risk and pick off weakened opponents from a distance as much as possible. Also, I loved this video! All the attention on the 4th generation of AC makes me happy, and your videos are very well scripted and read out! ^^ EDIT: So Unsung is actually still not that fast in 1.0 and is fundamentally flawed with its lightweight defenses but middleweight speed, otherwise I think it's *fine* as an AC.
Unsung's weight is a very odd choice for a craft with sub par defenses. I should note that digitigrade NEXTs can use their land to air jump without suffering the overweight speed penalty, giving it a niche burst movement option, but ive found the optimal way to pilot Unsung is to exhaust the Tresor or ER-0705 asap as the craft is tuned to be underweight as soon as on of it's low ammo weapons are empty
Neat. I admit i only get a short time with each next, so it always nice to spend time after seeing what people say and messing around with the next myself.
From what I can tell this next seems to be designed to dump a large up front attack on engagement start with the Pm missiles then a strike with the cannon, then immediately purge them to regain mobility. Or the back weapons are specifically for heavy targets and likewise should be purged when fighting enemy NeXTs to retain mobility parity. Looking at it from this lens makes sense to me, it give the craft more versatility since it can always drop extraneous weight depending on the situation. I love these videos.
Thank you and let me thank you for sharing you thoughts on the next. I only get a small time with them so any other input can only help lynxs who wish to try piloting the craft.
I just found this channel a few days ago and im loving it, I always knew armored core had alot going on lore wise, but seeing your videos on it puts it into concise words which is amazing. I dont know what your schedule is and no pressure, but if you ever planned to make a video on Kojima energy in the series I'd definitely watch it. I know there's certain events like the GA-GAE split caused by disagreements over Kojima tech (atleast thats how I interpreted it), and itd be interesting to see what companies have used it or are involved in that part of the story.
Thank you for kind words. I think a video on kojima energy might be fun one to try out. But it will have to put on my ever growing list as i do have a few lined up for now.
Just a note, the overweight issue is caused by your regulation setting. All of the schematics in game were designed for regulation 1.0, before many items were nerfed by making them heavier. I find regulation 1.20 to be the most balanced, as some items in 1.00 are weak (laser blades, certain FCS components), but 1.3 and 1.4 drastically increase the weight of many components, making many builds non viable.
Thank you for your comment, however i am aware of the reg system. The rule i use for these lore videos is to take reg 1 as the way these nexts are meant to be, since as you said most are made for this regulation so it make sense to report on them with this information.
I believe the name Otsdarva is an odd spelling related to Ostara or Eostre, which is a pagan holiday / goddess in reference to spring, just like Thermidor is a reference to July.
Neat there is some many meanings as its also suggested Otsdarva means one with may souls among others and well we all know about the French revolution meaning in thermidors name now.
Took a deep dive for this story and came up with a theory for myself. Thermidor = Robespierre Otsdarva = Thermidorian Reaction His stance and positions throughout the endings are directly correlated with where Strayed positions themselves in the "political chess game". I can see him being very opposed to Strayed for taking the Closed Plan for themselves in the Orca path 🤔
We do have a lot of Aaliyah lynxs like Berlioz, Anjou, Aabye and Zani to name a few and i would love to talk about them with thier history! However there are two issues, One is that some of these lynxs never made an appearance in AC4 and two there really is not much background given about them as such all i could do is repeat what the game already presented to the player and add some theories on thier backgrounds.
Thank you its still very much a speculation onto why maximilian turns apart from the fact he just can;t make up his mind if he wants to be a hero or a villain. Oh and yes i am a dummy who wrote the wrong word down in my scripts. This is why one must check and not go well I've played the game for years, I'm sure that's what it is.
hey mate i just discovered your channel thanks for these vids i will watch them sometime this weekend. glad to see armored core getting some spotlight these days, it's my fav game series and i hope we see a new one from fromsoft soon, if the rumours are true
I'm optimistic(and naive) enough to want to believe that his sudden betrayal in the Orca path's final mission is moreso him deliberately making himself a final test of sorts, to see if you have what it takes to see the Closed Plan through to the end. Because, as much as gameplay won't reflect it at times, he is the rank 1 Lynx of Collared, and what better final obstacle for the best(and last)member of Orca to overcome than the top pilot of an organization affiliated with the League?
Honestly there is no official reason for this betray as such this could be a possibility. However as you say i think we can tell from his words and general persona that he is someone who does what he wants and only fights on a side he thinks is winning.
I did for 04, but why I could not say the same here is after ac4 certain parts weight increased making some nexts overweight like unsung. This would be fixed in later regulations patches. However without the new regs unsung is always over weight even with tuning as he is already tuned in that area.
Say im curios why did you name the Alicia here when you didn't in the Aaliya vid are you gonna doe a sperate vid for it of not why the name drop here an not in its vid
Good question, i think in that video i just did not use its name instead calling it the 04. I also see that i did not use any footage from acfa. But i do think i cover it well enough in that video to not have to make a new one for it.

"Hello friends, this is Otz. At least until I start up ORCA."
Do you know I only know who this is about thanks to this phase. I have never watched a video of this user.
Unsung is such a glorious looking NEXT. Thanks for doing a video on my favorite AC character!
No problem!
I'd like to think the Odstarva/Thermidor dynamic is ACFA's reference for Char (Gundam)
It be cool, i can sort of see Odstarva as a char.
Makes me wonder if Ostdarva collected the Reversed jointed model from the deceased pilot Zanni.
he was the only pilot who put the model to full use in the LYNX wars,
and to also see Thermidor (Otsdarva) utilizing the model is not far from that possibility considering he's also the only LYNX using it in For Answer.
Dunno, I think Zanni may be too damaged to recover.
@@HeyPachuco i think Argyros being given to Neo is just simply because the maker Akvavit and GA-Europe that made torus which probably is anti omer was both in the same team in Lynx war. Speaking of scrapped part its very easy to get it clean from a next.
As when a Next get disabled its just the pilot that died most of the time from the neural connection damage for being connected to their machine.
@@Errorcutive I support that theory for numerous reasons for similar reasons you posted. nonetheless however i wouldn't jump on the band wagon for the reason afterwards:
1st is that Otsdarva has numerous similarities with certain pilots. his Craft bears that similarity with Zannis NEXT Roughcut, having an Assault rifle on the right, a laser weapon on the left, and missiles on the back right, suspiciously, this loadout carries over to Unsung. with the difference is that he has a plasma cannon on the back left, With Ostdarva being Rank 1 on Collards rank, this also puts him in the spotlight as Berlioz did in the LYNX originals, Unsung seems to be a referencial material to Supplice. this however might be a coincidence, as other NEXTS can arguably have the same similarities and we're just overthinking it. HOWEVER-
2nd, Otsdarva seems to be noted as the Only notable Rayleonard Employee within Omer science that ties into Thermidors Background Quote: "He fights to carry out the Closed Plan in Rayleonard's stead." Suggesting that he is one of the few (if not many) individuals of Rayleonard that knows the details and exact specifications of the closed plan. this once again connects to the potential possibility that he may have worked close with Berlioz and his Elite squad, and once again through that coincidence, Zanni is one of those elite members which can cut down to the next possabilities-
3rd, the names are another big hint, though another possible coincidence, nonetheless listen to this: Zanni is a Commedia dell'arte, known for tricksters and comedic performances, it was Strange for Zanni to have this name despite having no particular meaning to it with Both his NEXT and his reputation on the battlefield.
You think it's *your right to choose who lives and dies?* " that supports Oldkings sickened by Ostdarvas behavior as both an ORCA leader and a so called "revolutionist"
Though despite these theories I posted, Im expecting alot of those who will disagree for the over-thinking process of this statement, and there will be those who will point out the loop holes and flaws, by the end of the day.
IIRC Blue Magnolia dies in her attempt of a redemption arc to the reaper squad too
V.IV Rusty kept this cliche alive
The A.I. doesn't utilize the AC that amazingly, and it's not a particularly hard fight (beyond just fighting 3 AC's in one mission) which leads to the general impression it's not that strong.
EDIT: So Unsung is actually still not that fast in 1.0 and is fundamentally flawed with its lightweight defenses but middleweight speed, otherwise I think it's *fine* as an AC.
Sadly for emulation the regulations are lost to the mists of time…
@@InternetHydraNope, all regulations for 4A are in the 4th gen emulation pack
I believe the name Otsdarva is an odd spelling related to Ostara or Eostre, which is a pagan holiday / goddess in reference to spring, just like Thermidor is a reference to July.
Neat there is some many meanings as its also suggested Otsdarva means one with may souls among others and well we all know about the French revolution meaning in thermidors name now.
Took a deep dive for this story and came up with a theory for myself.
Thermidor = Robespierre
Otsdarva = Thermidorian Reaction
His stance and positions throughout the endings are directly correlated with where Strayed positions themselves in the "political chess game". I can see him being very opposed to Strayed for taking the Closed Plan for themselves in the Orca path 🤔
Indeed but then they all were just pawns in the leagues game of chess.
Good lord, UNSUNG has got to be one of the coolest NEXT’s I’ve ever seen, SUPPLICE is still cooler tho
It is a cool next and the lore is good too.
I'd love to see other Aaliyah Lynxs! I feel there are a lot in AC4 that we didn't get to see or hear much of.
Thank you for doing these videos. I truly enjoy them.

Thank you very much and I'm crossing fingers.
I like how the 04 was his better mech. Also didn't you say in the models episode you could tune the problem with the wight away.
I did for 04, but why I could not say the same here is after ac4 certain parts weight increased making some nexts overweight like unsung.
This would be fixed in later regulations patches. However without the new regs unsung is always over weight even with tuning as he is already tuned in that area.
