hey killer I completely agree with your list except for one small tiny thing. personally I would swap krieg and gaige with their spots. primarily because krieg has much more strength in end game content compared to gaige

Switch Aurelia and Nisha. Nisha suffers a bit the 1st playthrough and is gun dependent (certain guns and manufactures just don't work well with her skills) and your Aurelia complaint is flat out wrong, to the point where I question if you've actually looked at the skill tree. While it does focus on co-op play in general, it really only effects 6 skills (out of 13) on the Contractual Aristocracy tree. In fact, I just went back and checked, to see how many Contract skill points you'd waste just to get down the tree to capstone, and it's 4 (1 in Contractual Obligations, 1 in Excellent Shot, Madam and 2 in Valet). (I mean, not that you would, that capstone sucks awfully, just that you could.)
I like how Salvador’s ability is something as simple as “I can hold a second gun” and that makes him better than almost everyone including sirens that can warp in between dimensions and lock enemies in alternate realities.
Unfortunately, leveling Salvador is like pulling teeth. Without his real skills he's barely playable, blowing his load in seconds and burning through your pathetic low level ammo pool.
@@dadeee7776 I'm talking about the first half of NVHM where you barely have an action skill. Not great fun. Badabooms are only reasonable to farm by the time you hit the Blight, and that's most of the way in. Besides, farming up ammo SDUs is such a pain... Then again, being forced to start at the beginning and play through three times is the worst part of BL2.
Claptrap was the definition of " I just wanna have fun", you never know what ability is gonna activate when you use your skill and that just kept the game interesting 😂
It was A BLAST! I played him with 3 other people and whenever I got the rubber duck bouncy ability all I could hear were insults 😂. They put up with it though because the pirate ship mode is just so op

Nisha simply goes Jerry Miculek mode and literally deletes the game out of her path. Anybody saying she isn't the strongest ever, never invested 50 hours of their lives into a god roll two fer Luck Cannon. The same people failing to realize that are probably the same saying Double Anarchy Lilith is the strongest BL1 character, because they don't have the attributes required to farm for a perfect roll Ajax Ogre on Brick.
krieg and sal both have their respective skills that actually provide a lot of damage and in the uvhm/op levels are downright almost required, abt as much as slag is required, krieg has bloodbath or silence the voices if you're going more melee, and sal has money shot and i think one other, sal is the closest to just fuck it we ball out of any borderlands character but thats mostly because of the immense amounts of glitches you can do with him, hes so broken cos he breaks the game essentially
I will never forget playing presequel with my friend in high school, he unlocked the Doppelganger's inspiration skill. We were getting our asses kicked in a circle of slaughter, Dahl Jetfighters everywhere, we're both in FFYL, and handsome jack just pipes up "Believe in yourself" and a rainbow flies across the screen. My boyfriend and I are working through playing various Borderlands games together, and I play exclusively as the Doppelganger in TPS, and I genuinely cannot wait for 'Inspired" shenanigans to ensue because he had no idea that was a thing
Wilhelm in the lore is an absolute unit. He beat all the BL1 vault hunters and single handedly destroyed New Haven all by himself. He was a literal monster. The BL1 vault hunters and handsome Jack knew that. That’s why Jack deliberately poisoned him so he would be weak enough that the player can have a chance at killing him 😂. Not to mention Roland being surprised when you beat Wilhelm. To this day, I still wish we could’ve gotten a non-poisoned Wilhelm raid boss where we can fight him at his full potential.
I've never played Gage the way this video describes. I didn't even know that was a thing. Sounds like most people don't know how to play her in a fun way.
Doppelgänger Jack is my all time favorite because he obviously had his own personality but is constantly forced to switch up the persona just to meet the standards of how Handsome Jack is supposed to act.
Let us not forget how long we suffered seeing poor iron bear be borderline useless. I chose her for the funny mech but stayed for the infinite healing explosions . . . and then eventually they made bear incredible. Truly a win win
The thing I realized about Moze is that I never actually NEED Iron Bear. Her ridiculous fire damage and grenade health regen makes her so op that I only pull out Iron Bear for extra fun.
I broke Mayhem 10 once using just Auto Bear I literally summon Iron Bear, Hop out immediately, and jump into the turret, essentially becoming temporarily invincible while iron bear cleans house. Because I don't use any fuel the cooldown recharges super fast that by the time Auto Bear deactivates my Action Skill is already recharged. _Moze is SO powerful you can literally win by doing absolutely nothing._
Yeah, and the other thing about Moze is you also actually need NOTHING BUT Iron Bear She is by far and away the strongest character in the franchise, by miles and miles, and there is no real argument against that statement The second you hit max level you can crank it to M10 and go solo Hemovorous with nothing but her railgun build and anything at any level with a railgun anointment, no other special gear or equipment needed No other character in the entire franchise can do that
And it’s controllable. His ability adapts to scenarios and chooses which ability will be the most beneficial to you. Once you realize which situations trigger which action skills he can be really powerful and fun
The only problem is that it takes a lot more time to master than people are willing to put into him, because it’s not very usable if you don’t know what you’re doing
I wish Pre-Sequel had more end game content, it is arguably the most fun game in the series, but there's nothing to do after beating the raid Sentinel.
Or you get him a Ranger class mod and let Bloodwing play the game for you. Hitting multiple targets and less than a second action skill recharge time makes the campaign a breeze.
Krieg hits a sweet spot around level 40 where he just annhilates everything and is constantly raging, especially with a conference call on hand to get out of Fight for Your Life. In particular the overlook shield is wonderful since he is always getting knocked down and then immediately getting back up. I know he doesnt scale well into the OP stuff but i genuinly don't care since *IM THE CONDUCTOR OF THE POOP TRAIN*
I think Claptrap has one of the best skill trees. They are kinda weird but when used correctly it is nearly impossible to kill him and he was great at destroying groups.

Everyones playing borderlands and Athenas just over here playing Dark Souls with Sword and Board bleed tagging everything that moves 😂 Easily the most fun melee character in the series. EDIT: Yes, even more than Krieg.
Athena can be a glass cannon in the wrong hands so can be tough for new players but once you master her and spec in the right skills she is amazingly powerful. Nothing sweeter than leaping in the air and one shotting Shugguraths and I also remember taking down the Bosun with her leaping in mid air - fun as hell. I did a video of it but won't post coz its rude to on the back of the Ops video here....
My top 5 are Maya - First love and speed running Athena - The storm itself. With a shield throw. Just awesome. Moze - "Now that's a lotta damage!" Zane - Best one liners in the franchise Amara - Ties that bind is the most satisfying ability in the franchise I realize this is top heavy on BL3, but lets face it. BL3 playable characters were VERY well updated as the game went on. Honorables: Timothy and his useless point that you spend just to get dialog LOL And ANARCHY!
There’s the actual best vault hunters, and then there’s the vault hunters that are the most fun to play. Salvador, Zane, Nisha, Athena, Amara are the ones that are just a pure joy to play, whether or not they’re the most powerful at endgame.
krieg me favourite, stv become 90% when theres a 1 hit psycho in my face and i hit myself in the face 30 times before I'm finally able to swing and i swing at nothing, then i go into ffyl and have to use norfleet to finally finish off the darn thing

Gaige has still been the only character ive ever gotten max. Shes fun as hell and personally no other character has lived up to her. But i also respect where you put her.
The shooting on the ground was pretty unique and fun, but it is bad that anarchy is her only damage skill. I used a mod where you can change the amount of anarchy stacks you get with your first kill and it made her really fun
People also mistreat her by just thinking about Anarchy skill, she has great left and middle skill tree that are good in coop and solo up until maybe OP10 or something, but most of the game you can easily play her as tank with left skill tree.

That and the constant weapon switching makes her in my opinion one of the most annoying characters. With nisha just get a maggie or a luck cannon for mobbing and mongol for bossing and u destroy everything. Same with aurelia with skullmasher and Pitchfork.
I always liked the design of the vault hunters on pre-sequel. Athena and Nisha were very fun to use. I wish we had a skillset similar to theirs but in more of a B3 setting.
Everything you said about CL4P-TP us exactly the reason I love him. I can understand wanting stability and knowing what happens when you push a button but I want to have 4 GODDAMN cannons on me while playing the 1812 overture.
Hes also partially wrong claptrap ISINT an RNG character his analysis ability tends to be MOSTLY right and the bonuses for even the ones that are bad in those situations are STILL WORTH IT A permanent 100% boost to reload speed and fire rate along with turning every gun into an explosive one with a 400% damage boost to the last shot to boot WHERES the flaws here? His reasoning is just 'claptraps annoying to play as trash character' its stupid and very disingenuous ESPECIALLY when he claimed to appreciate the more versatile classes while simultaneously putting ALL of the versatile classes low on the list

Something that i like about Maya is that in one of her skill trees is a skill that revives you immediately after you go down, before going unavailable the next time you go down for a certain amount of time.
Pretty sure that's Amara. Maya (and Athena, surprisingly) can instantly revive others from a distance, Amara can revive herself immediately once every two minutes.
Zer0 has been, and probably will always be my favourite of the vault hunters. As someone who’s done a melee build for ever Borderlands game, not a single other vault hunter can match Zer0 in terms of how unique he is to do melee with, while still being very strong. His methodical hit and run burst damage setup is so fun and satisfying to pull off, and Many Must Fall allows you to have brief moments of hyper aggressive slaughter. I don’t think they’ll be able to outdo what they did with Melee Zer0, but I sure as shit want them to try.
@@Lofirainbows He’s lots of fun and a cool take on tanks berzerker style melee builds, and is pretty easy to build for as he doesn’t need a lot of gear, hell people have done many gunless and even gearless runs with him to great effects. Definitely strong and very fun in his own ways. Plus bloodsplosion is an amazing skill
The only thing that scares Moze is her own splash damage. 9/10 times in FFYL, it's because an enemy jumped in my face and brought a mini-nade from Mind Sweeper or the CMT with it.
I started borderlands 3 with Zane, he was still so fun to play that I didn't really care about power. Not only does he have a fantastic build but he has a fantastic personality to watch him interact with the rest of the game.
I know it would be really tricky, but I'd love to see a tier list based more around the normal playthrough, rather than endgame raids. I've played BL2 so many times, it's within my top 10 games, but not once have I cared to do the raids or OP content apart from Terra. How well they do in co-op, how well they handle the typical crowds of enemies, how good their survivability is, etc - all while with a non-specialised build, no grinding and only whatever legendary guns you were lucky enough to find along the way, that's what always appeals to me in Borderlands :P
SAME! I've never gotten into the whole - researching to find the exact perfect build and grinding to find that exact perfect weapona sort of gameplay. I've never had interest in the raid bosses, though I did enjoy Digistruct Peak and also the Takedowns with friends. I usually just pick a character I like, and spec out as I go while reading the descriptions of what skills do what, and check out the cool loot as I go. I know I'm quite often "wrong" and my character could always be way more powerful if I just used the right gun/shield/skill tree combo, but I just don't find that to be as fun (ask me if I've ever *once* shot a fibber at the ground with my Gaige build - didn't even know that was a thing lol)
This. This I want to see. I never played the raids as I had no friends to play it with simply because I got on the borderlands 2 band wagon WAYYY too late. Despite that, it is in my top 5 games ever. Its one of the few games I come back to time ans time again. The most fun character has been krieg for me, gauge second, maya and Salvador. Never went for zero or Axton but I would try zero.
zer0 was also my first ever VH, and i loved his playstyle. I loved throwing my deception before i engage a fight then just delete an enemies health right before i reappear. I especially loved the skill that allowed you to melee-dash, definitely felt like an Assassin.
Mordecais ability to shoot through shields was op in BL1. Every endgame enemy literally had big ass shield but next to zero health. You would go around and one shot everything. Was also a passive btw, so you didnt have to wait for a window or such things
Lilith is still my favorite, i feel like phasewalk is very versatile and good in any type of fight and I really like how that perk that let her walk faster after killing somebody for a few seconds and the one that gives you back cooldown on killing somebody synergized so you could just walk around the map in phasewalk almost constantly at an increased speed because of the perk if you kept seeing enemies, and sometimes the phase blast when she goes in and out of phase was enough to kill things. Maya was cool but i feel like she kinda sucked against invincibles because a lot of her skills are tied to phase lock and a lot of bosses cant really be locked. Amara was awesome to but I hate how you have to switch between the skills in the pause menu because one of them is way better against bosses while the phase grasp is way better against mobs but you aren't able to just choose which one you want immediately which annoys me.
Mordecai has to be my favorite, running a gunslinger mod in bl1 with either a defiler or the pearlescent stalker was absolutely broken, not to mention being able to take advantage of mashers - one of the strongest guns in the game. Tears crawmerax apart
Krieg will always be my favorite vault hunter ever even on raid bosses. His unpredictably is so fun and a different kind of randomness then something like claptrap
I have a friend who loved Krieg and when he first came out and we saw the trailer for him we did a duo of Krieg and Maya and we were unstoppable. It was great because I love Krieg but I sucked with him haha. We called our characters Poop Train and Pretty Lady.
Krieg is by far the best vault hunter across the entire franchise been into borderlands since day 1 and nothing feels more like the chaos of pandora then playing as the strongest psycho on the planet.

That was exactly the purpose of Roland. People were so used to soldier-type characters in the games they play so the devs wanted to have that one character that everyone would be familiar with but could then explore the aspects of these skill trees and unique abilities. He's weak yes, but that's what makes Roland, Roland. IMO, at least for beginners in BL3; FL4K is a great character, if you grind to level 11 in (I forget the name) the green skill tree, you can have your pet REVIVE you, you basically cannot die unless you got downed enough times that the bar drains too quickly and your pet is too far away...
Never expected Moze to be at no.1 but she deserve it, If gearbox ever decides to remake borderlands 1 & 2 they should upgrade the original BL1 skill trees
Moze is completely unsurprising to me. The reason for that? Her numbers are so obscenely broken, she can obliterate the damage cap and deal the largest theoretical single number in the entire franchise. In a power ranking it's tough to beat the character who can output enough DPS to obliterate a planet.

I would of put Cl4p in the top 5. His action skill can be chaotic, but it's borderlands. As a certain former hyperion employee turned bandit chief teaches us, to survive you embrace the chaos.
my best friend and i did a co-op full playthrough with him as zane and me as moze. once we got to the postgame stuff it was absolutely wild having both of those working together, we were absolutely absurd
My absolute go to vault hunters for each game are: Brick (BL1) Gaige (BL2) Tim, Jack, Doppelgänger (BLPS) Haven’t played Borderlands 3 yet so I don’t know who my main/favourite vault hunter will be for it.
In BL 1 Lilith was a God. Constant ammo replenish and always healing. She phase walk and all enemies including bosses,would forget she exists. Damage going into,during and out of phase walk damages everything.
Gaige was actually the first character I ever did a playthrough with in the series. I bought Borderlands 2 with money from my first job back when I was in highschool, and I grabbed the Gaige DLC along with it. Figured I paid extra for the character, might as well play as her. Believe it or not, I didn't use Anarchy my first time through. The reduced accuracy was a big turn off to me as I was maining sniper rifles, so I just didn't invest into it. Instead, I was relying on DT to help me out, and invested into "Close Enough" while still actually trying to aim, with the idea being that it would be useful if I got downed and the only enemies to second wind myself were around a corner. By the time I finally did decide to give Anarchy a proper try I was pretty high level, one of the old level caps. Combined with Close Enough, it's incredibly powerful. I found the best combination to be to use a class mod that gives you extra stacks of close enough so that as many shots are hitting something as possible, only invest into the base Anarchy skill (because you have to sacrifice clip size to get later skills), and use an infinity pistol (which has a clip size of 1, so it won't shoot if you sacrifice clip size). The Grog is a good gun to have as a secondary weapon, switch to it when you want to mark enemies with slag then swap to your infinity and just let loose on them. Get enough kills and each individual shot will be doing ungodly amounts of damage, and you will be landing most of them. IIRC one of her skills can also make you slag the first enemy you hit after a while, so you don't need to keep weapon swapping so much. Make sure you're actually aiming at the enemies so that as many shots are landing as possible, you will get very inaccurate but it won't matter much. Overall, Gaige can be absolutely busted. DT went from my saving grace to feeling honestly kinda useless. I mostly only ever use him now to give the enemies something else to shoot at while I'm mowing them down. Technically you can do even more damage if you have fire weapons, which isn't very intuitive since Gaige is a shock themed character. However, I don't really mind the lost DPS from using shock weapons. Melted enemies are still melted enemies all the same, and anything that has most of it's tanking power in it's shield will rue the day it crossed my path. My other favorites are Mordy, Lilith, Wilhelm, Nisha, Athena, Jack/Tim, Zer0, Krieg, Zane, and Moze. Among them, I'd say Mordecai, Jack, Zer0, and Moze were the most fun I had from each game. Though, I do prefer Gaige over Zer0. Maybe it's nostalgia, I dunno. I just really like playing Gaige, and I'm not sorry.
old comment, but the pre-sequel's big issue for me was just how much of the game was "stand still and wait for an annoying NPC to open a door while they tell you their life's story." BL1, 2, and 3 you can pretty much just blast through the game as fast as your character can run, but pre-sequel has so much forced waiting that I really didn't want to play it more than twice.
Roland and Mordecai carried in BL1. Brick was the roughest to play. The scorpion turret healed, regened amo and grenades, provided cover, gave cover fire, and spawned extra loot. Bloodwing was a quick insta kill and did good damage against bosses. Lilith was alright and synergized well with elemental SMGs, her power was typically used for running away though. Brick just punched people, which is way less cool than the others. Don't be doing my boy Roland dirty like that.
yeah roland being at the bottom just annoys me so much...the point of roland is to be more like a leader character...his turret abilities were geared specifically for coop so everyone gained health and ammunition... and Brick was not hard to play if you didn't go the tank route...if you go tank he just can't die so much shield and health...
Timothy in my opinion is the best vault hunter in any game. If i could choose 1 vault hunter to play in every game it would be him. Hes sooo much fun and his dialogue is top notch.
I don’t know how it would work or be done, but imagine if all the vault hunters were able to be cross played between games. It wouldn’t make sense story-wise, but the gameplay could be insane. Like playing Zayne in BL1 and Claptrap in BL3.
I would love this but all the games other than bl2 and TPS are so different with skill trees, scaling, etc.. you would have to drastically rework them to line up. I do think TPS and bl2 could be done fairly easily, sure the games scale different but I think they could work. Bl1 characters in other games would just feel bad because the skill trees don't provide enough to make them powerful enough to play. Lilith for example would go God awful in uvhm in BL2.
To make it work, just match which ever VH your playing with enemies health pool from the same VHs game. I'm thinking sorta same way you can play as a level 15 and your friend can be 45. That might work!
Yeah, Ronald to be fair was more of a support class, than a main damage class, he was my first character, and the biggest issue with Ronald is his turret which can do massive amounts of damage and truly clutch up at tough spots, is that it just takes to long for it to recharge to be viable
I played through BL1, 2, and Pre-sequel with a squad of friends a few years back. Absolutely had the fuckin time of our lives, but one of the highlights was when one of them played Claptrap. We were still figuring out the skills, and suddenly Claptrap had a bomb over his head in the middle of the firefight. Absolute chaos as we shouted at our friend to dive into the enemies instead of running towards us.
Claptrap is the most controversial pick. Claptrap is the only reason I played the prequel. Now you don’t got to worry about the stupid oxygen mechanic, but you still get a jet pack. The prequel was actually fun, and his action skill is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. He’s a top 5 character for me.
I find Iron Bear being so overpowered to be hilarious, because there was a point I'm time where all Iron Bear was good for was the temporary involuntarily you would get while entering it.
Man i love the borderlands character designs. All the summoner characters are so incredibly fun to me no matter how bad they are. Im hype to see what borderlands 4 cooks up
I like the Messy Breakup Flak, can melt everything with the right Messy Breakup and and having your pets shield break repeatedly to unleash a swarm of drones.
And red fang taunt will last even after gamma burst has ended. The pet is basically a God that somehow in mayhem 11 it's health is infinity except because of barrels
I friggen love Zero,because 1:I had an OC as a kid called Zero and he was just like Bordeland’s Zero, 2:His clone ability is sick, And 3:Sniper riffles,I love staying back and sniping the heck out of losers.
Strongest or not. Clap Trap is the most fun character to play. You probably had to play borderlands 1 when it first came out or at least before playing BL2. When I saw that Clap Trap was going to be playable, I was over the moon. Then when I realized he could turn into a pirate ship "Pirate Ships can be vault hunters right?" I almost peed myself laughing. Then I blew myself up a few times, getting the hang of it. Then I blew myself up more after that. Those ship canons do massive damage, sometimes to yourself. Yes, he's annoying, but so much fun. And, I believe, the only character that is in every BL game.
@@LogoSystemCG I played Krieg for about 10 minutes. His muttering made me not like him right away. It's one thing to be demented, but the stuff he says just seemed kind of dumb to me. So, I didn't play him long. Maybe he's powerful once built up, but getting there was too much for me.

The fact that we ear the normal guy sometimes while in menu or after a massacre is so freaking good.
I started the series with Axton and 2, but a few years ago, I got curious about Maya and never looked back, much as I still love Axton's character and story. Health regen from two different sources that benefit every other character she plays with and stacks with each of their own personal regen, the ability to reciprocate incoming damage in two separate instances(one of which reduces further incoming damage), pulling all enemies that were near each other together to allow for more effective area damage and control and then having them fight each other while they all take increased damage from everything, literally stealing a portion of health from enemies just via shooting them, right down to increasing the speed at which her guns just work, while all of that is happening. Maya will always be my favorite Borderlands character to play as, because I've never had another experience even close to being like her.
It hurts me a little to see Gaige at 13 because I just had a ton of fun running and gunning with her, but I appreciate the reasoning for her and the others, much of which I agree with (especially DT being a erratic. Appreciate the video amigo, thanks for doing what you do. But I do think I'm going to see how far I can get with one life Gaige because I like pain.
Hurts here too, but let's be honest, Gaige had like 1 or 1-and-a-half viable endgame builds, and the and a half was buffing deathtrap which while my favourite, was hampered by how stupid the pet AI is in borderlands. Still my main.
Gaige is who you play when you need to blow off steam. Fire up a new Gaige game, grab a two-shot Jakobs shotgun, watch your stress levels magically deplete as quickly as the enemies' health bars.

Lilith is totally a top 5-worthy character. There's a reason she's the most popular of the BL1 characters and it's because specced properly, she's damn near immortal. Run in, pop phasewalk, spread dots, pop out, kill a few enemies, pop phasewalk again, heal, done.
@@michaelbecket4901 Why is her personality shit in future games? I think she's really good in Bl2 and Bl3, but Bl3 overall suffers from low quality story. I would say her acting is the most human of all, her personality is something I can identify with. And she always picked up the slack, whenever it was needed. Maybe I'm biased but I can't find many faults in that character, I think most people can't, which is why she was fan favorite for a long time (she and Maya).

In my personal case, I judge NPCs based on their character in the games I played, because I am no speedrunner.

I’d swap Nisha and Fl4k. Endgame aside, Nisha is easily the most fun vault hunter in the series to do that initial playthrough with. I realize her defensive liabilities are tough at endgame, but presequel doesn’t have much endgame anyway.
As a sniper class fan, Mordecai was my first VH. He willl always be my favourite, no matter what. Lilith comes a close second, followed by Maya, Zero and Aurelia.
My favorite is probably Nisha, using her Aimbot skill and the two Revolver ability from her skilltree makes her basically the best killing machine of them all.
The addition of the purple skill trees in 3 greatly helps iron bear's run time and armor, as well as a certain class mod that resets Moze's AS within a few seconds of igniting someone. IB with dual explosive mini guns is the biggest threat in the game you could come across. And iron cub with the right weapons can clear multiple sectors on its own. However, you shouldn't run explosive bullets on it because cub tends to get up close to enemies a lot and will blow itself to pieces quickly.
Merry Christmas K6! My favorite remains Flak. He's just so effortless with fade away and the Clairvoyance . With a great Jacobs artifact and a stackbot, he's a blast to play with!
Playing with maximum FOV and accidentally doing a Zane Speedbuild was one of the most fun experiences I have had in these games. My friend would laugh so hard when he saw me running across the map like I was the Flash or something
I just have to pop in before fully watching to both comment for the algorithm, and to say that despite BL3 being my absolute #1 in the franchise, there may never be VH that hits it for me like Krieg does. His 3 vastly different yet super synergistic skill trees make him a character I feel like I could theory craft with for ever, and his dialogue is still just as amazing as it was that first playthrough. God I love Krieg Top 5 in order: Krieg, Amara, Maya, Zane, Lilith. Honorable Mention to CL4P-TP cause chaos makes me smile
Highly disagree with the krieg placement. I mean, most bl2 VH can’t do raid bosses at OP10, at least his playstyle is vastly different from others allowing different guns like the CC and slowhand to be useful without a bee shield. One thing i dislike is the flame of the firehawk blindness LMAO, but deff better than stacking anarchy each time you load in.
Does this list still hold up in 2024? Also, sad my Gaige is so low... My first character in BL2 in 11ish years, shes only lvl32 rn but i was hoping she'd get better 😅😢
Honestly I love Roland because of how simple he is. Really all you need is Metal Storm, Stat, maybe Aid Station, and any half-decent fully auto Combat Rifle and you can pretty much hold down the trigger and become nearly unstoppable. Definitely agree with Zane and Moze at the top. Those two are such utter crack to play.
You must've been one of those that really got punched in the gut when Handsome Jack backshot him... Also shed a tear at Bunkers and Badasses? For me, it was Bloodwing and the bird babies
I think with how balanced the BL3 vault hunters are, I have to say that Salvador is the strongest vault hunter. He’s the only character that can *reasonably* beat every single raid boss in borderlands 2 by himself
Theres a feeling you get with sal, where you go down, 3/4 of fight for your life gone, down not out comes of CD, and just wasting the raid boss to get back up. While sal screams "I. AM. ALLLLLLLIVE." that is very hard to put into words. The power, of 2 guns and alot of movies
I personally disagree with almost the entirity of this list, but thats what so great about the vault hunters in borderlands. There’d genuinely something for everyone, theyre so versatile and diverse, theres a playstyle for all players Also hope you had a good christmas with the family!
Fragtrap is definetly in my top 10. If you skip out on some of his skill tree spots that add damage to specific things (elemental, weapon type, if your using melee or not) because they can add weapon debuffs if your not using the right thing, i skipped out on the melee one and the elemental one in the red tree, made it so most of my shots will deal explosive damage no matter what element im using, made explosions deal more damage (ties in really well with the last skill). So mostly green and blue tree and then throw all you red without the hammer icon and the elemental die.
Got BL3 a week ago. When trying to inspect the heroes to decide which one I play first, I clicked on Zane and it just started the game. I just rolled with it, and damn! Zane is so freaking fun. Got him to level 51 tonight. Didn’t look at a single guide, and went down the blue tree first. I thought it would be too tough to top Tim the Doppleganger but Zane is my favorite of the franchise as of now.
My go-to for Moze was the Lucky 7 Revolver from the Handsome Jackpot DLC. The setup was a bit tedious at times, but once you hit all the perks, or even just the 7-shot and auto-crit, combined with her having effectively infinite ammo, the entire game was pretty much a cakewalk with just that one gun alone. Then there was Iron Bear which I didn't even use most of the time because it felt like cheating. Dual cannons, damn near two-tap just about any boss or badass that didn't get immediately atomized by the Lucky 7. Moze is far and away the most fun vault hunter I've played across the entire franchise.
I got back into Borderlands thanks to the Pandora collection and theres something I appreciate in BL3 the amount of health recovery you can do. I remember playing first BL2 and just dying over and over like in Dark Souls because health regen was a joke if it isnt a weapon doing the healing
how could you not mention one of Athena's best features: her Blood Rush skill, which lets her rapidly dash forward and attack enemies with her blade. combined with melee skills like Rend it's just a ton of fun dashing around like an anime swordsman cutting down every enemy on screen
Really loving Zane for a first play through of BL 3 I just love that one of his core skills is murdering stuff which makes him move insanely fast which makes him better at murdering stuff. I’m like a bullet train that was also given access to high power weaponry
I wish I could take any of these Vault Hunters through the franchise games, keeping them updated to the newest thing. Athena is my favorite, and I'd love to be able to play her in the other games. :(
You're not wrong on Krieg's positon pissing people off. He's pretty much the best if you go into the explosive axe throwing stuff, even against big enemies.

Switch Aurelia and Nisha. Nisha suffers a bit the 1st playthrough and is gun dependent (certain guns and manufactures just don't work well with her skills) and your Aurelia complaint is flat out wrong, to the point where I question if you've actually looked at the skill tree. While it does focus on co-op play in general, it really only effects 6 skills (out of 13) on the Contractual Aristocracy tree. In fact, I just went back and checked, to see how many Contract skill points you'd waste just to get down the tree to capstone, and it's 4 (1 in Contractual Obligations, 1 in Excellent Shot, Madam and 2 in Valet). (I mean, not that you would, that capstone sucks awfully, just that you could.)
I like how Salvador’s ability is something as simple as “I can hold a second gun” and that makes him better than almost everyone including sirens that can warp in between dimensions and lock enemies in alternate realities.
Unfortunately, leveling Salvador is like pulling teeth. Without his real skills he's barely playable, blowing his load in seconds and burning through your pathetic low level ammo pool.

It was A BLAST! I played him with 3 other people and whenever I got the rubber duck bouncy ability all I could hear were insults 😂. They put up with it though because the pirate ship mode is just so op

krieg and sal both have their respective skills that actually provide a lot of damage and in the uvhm/op levels are downright almost required, abt as much as slag is required, krieg has bloodbath or silence the voices if you're going more melee, and sal has money shot and i think one other, sal is the closest to just fuck it we ball out of any borderlands character but thats mostly because of the immense amounts of glitches you can do with him, hes so broken cos he breaks the game essentially

Wilhelm in the lore is an absolute unit. He beat all the BL1 vault hunters and single handedly destroyed New Haven all by himself. He was a literal monster. The BL1 vault hunters and handsome Jack knew that. That’s why Jack deliberately poisoned him so he would be weak enough that the player can have a chance at killing him 😂. Not to mention Roland being surprised when you beat Wilhelm. To this day, I still wish we could’ve gotten a non-poisoned Wilhelm raid boss where we can fight him at his full potential.

The thing I realized about Moze is that I never actually NEED Iron Bear. Her ridiculous fire damage and grenade health regen makes her so op that I only pull out Iron Bear for extra fun.

I broke Mayhem 10 once using just Auto Bear
I literally summon Iron Bear, Hop out immediately, and jump into the turret, essentially becoming temporarily invincible while iron bear cleans house.
Because I don't use any fuel the cooldown recharges super fast that by the time Auto Bear deactivates my Action Skill is already recharged.

She is by far and away the strongest character in the franchise, by miles and miles, and there is no real argument against that statement
The second you hit max level you can crank it to M10 and go solo Hemovorous with nothing but her railgun build and anything at any level with a railgun anointment, no other special gear or equipment needed
No other character in the entire franchise can do that
CL4P-TP was the most fun character between all the other VHs, across all the games. It was so chaotic I loved it.
And it’s controllable. His ability adapts to scenarios and chooses which ability will be the most beneficial to you. Once you realize which situations trigger which action skills he can be really powerful and fun
The only problem is that it takes a lot more time to master than people are willing to put into him, because it’s not very usable if you don’t know what you’re doing
I wish Pre-Sequel had more end game content, it is arguably the most fun game in the series, but there's nothing to do after beating the raid Sentinel.

Or you get him a Ranger class mod and let Bloodwing play the game for you. Hitting multiple targets and less than a second action skill recharge time makes the campaign a breeze.

Krieg hits a sweet spot around level 40 where he just annhilates everything and is constantly raging, especially with a conference call on hand to get out of Fight for Your Life.
In particular the overlook shield is wonderful since he is always getting knocked down and then immediately getting back up.
I know he doesnt scale well into the OP stuff but i genuinly don't care since *IM THE CONDUCTOR OF THE POOP TRAIN*

I think Claptrap has one of the best skill trees. They are kinda weird but when used correctly it is nearly impossible to kill him and he was great at destroying groups.

Athena can be a glass cannon in the wrong hands so can be tough for new players but once you master her and spec in the right skills she is amazingly powerful. Nothing sweeter than leaping in the air and one shotting Shugguraths and I also remember taking down the Bosun with her leaping in mid air - fun as hell. I did a video of it but won't post coz its rude to on the back of the Ops video here....

I have probably 3k hours in BL2 and i have to say the most fun i had with it was playing melee zero.
krieg me favourite, stv become 90% when theres a 1 hit psycho in my face and i hit myself in the face 30 times before I'm finally able to swing and i swing at nothing, then i go into ffyl and have to use norfleet to finally finish off the darn thing

The shooting on the ground was pretty unique and fun, but it is bad that anarchy is her only damage skill. I used a mod where you can change the amount of anarchy stacks you get with your first kill and it made her really fun

People also mistreat her by just thinking about Anarchy skill, she has great left and middle skill tree that are good in coop and solo up until maybe OP10 or something, but most of the game you can easily play her as tank with left skill tree.

@@RemingtonSteel its kinda annoying with athena bc u cant just use a certain legendary to farm maelstrom. U basically need to rely on worlddrop delivery and development. That and the constant weapon switching makes her in my opinion one of the most annoying characters. With nisha just get a maggie or a luck cannon for mobbing and mongol for bossing and u destroy everything. Same with aurelia with skullmasher and Pitchfork.
I always liked the design of the vault hunters on pre-sequel. Athena and Nisha were very fun to use. I wish we had a skillset similar to theirs but in more of a B3 setting.
I love playing electricity Gaige. It makes shock damage in bl2 feel SO strong.
Everything you said about CL4P-TP us exactly the reason I love him. I can understand wanting stability and knowing what happens when you push a button but I want to have 4 GODDAMN cannons on me while playing the 1812 overture.

Something that i like about Maya is that in one of her skill trees is a skill that revives you immediately after you go down, before going unavailable the next time you go down for a certain amount of time.
Pretty sure that's Amara. Maya (and Athena, surprisingly) can instantly revive others from a distance, Amara can revive herself immediately once every two minutes.
Zer0 has been, and probably will always be my favourite of the vault hunters. As someone who’s done a melee build for ever Borderlands game, not a single other vault hunter can match Zer0 in terms of how unique he is to do melee with, while still being very strong. His methodical hit and run burst damage setup is so fun and satisfying to pull off, and Many Must Fall allows you to have brief moments of hyper aggressive slaughter. I don’t think they’ll be able to outdo what they did with Melee Zer0, but I sure as shit want them to try.
There will never be another melee character like Zer0 i think he’s just too unique

@@Lofirainbows He’s lots of fun and a cool take on tanks berzerker style melee builds, and is pretty easy to build for as he doesn’t need a lot of gear, hell people have done many gunless and even gearless runs with him to great effects. Definitely strong and very fun in his own ways. Plus bloodsplosion is an amazing skill

The only thing that scares Moze is her own splash damage. 9/10 times in FFYL, it's because an enemy jumped in my face and brought a mini-nade from Mind Sweeper or the CMT with it.
Probably the only character that runs from enemies because they are afraid to kill themself

I started borderlands 3 with Zane, he was still so fun to play that I didn't really care about power. Not only does he have a fantastic build but he has a fantastic personality to watch him interact with the rest of the game.

I know it would be really tricky, but I'd love to see a tier list based more around the normal playthrough, rather than endgame raids. I've played BL2 so many times, it's within my top 10 games, but not once have I cared to do the raids or OP content apart from Terra. How well they do in co-op, how well they handle the typical crowds of enemies, how good their survivability is, etc - all while with a non-specialised build, no grinding and only whatever legendary guns you were lucky enough to find along the way, that's what always appeals to me in Borderlands :P

SAME! I've never gotten into the whole - researching to find the exact perfect build and grinding to find that exact perfect weapona sort of gameplay. I've never had interest in the raid bosses, though I did enjoy Digistruct Peak and also the Takedowns with friends. I usually just pick a character I like, and spec out as I go while reading the descriptions of what skills do what, and check out the cool loot as I go. I know I'm quite often "wrong" and my character could always be way more powerful if I just used the right gun/shield/skill tree combo, but I just don't find that to be as fun (ask me if I've ever *once* shot a fibber at the ground with my Gaige build - didn't even know that was a thing lol)
This. This I want to see. I never played the raids as I had no friends to play it with simply because I got on the borderlands 2 band wagon WAYYY too late. Despite that, it is in my top 5 games ever. Its one of the few games I come back to time ans time again. The most fun character has been krieg for me, gauge second, maya and Salvador. Never went for zero or Axton but I would try zero.

zer0 was also my first ever VH, and i loved his playstyle. I loved throwing my deception before i engage a fight then just delete an enemies health right before i reappear. I especially loved the skill that allowed you to melee-dash, definitely felt like an Assassin.

Mordecais ability to shoot through shields was op in BL1. Every endgame enemy literally had big ass shield but next to zero health. You would go around and one shot everything. Was also a passive btw, so you didnt have to wait for a window or such things
Jack is the only VH in TPS that I am comfortable using when soloing EOS and Eclipse
Lilith is still my favorite, i feel like phasewalk is very versatile and good in any type of fight and I really like how that perk that let her walk faster after killing somebody for a few seconds and the one that gives you back cooldown on killing somebody synergized so you could just walk around the map in phasewalk almost constantly at an increased speed because of the perk if you kept seeing enemies, and sometimes the phase blast when she goes in and out of phase was enough to kill things. Maya was cool but i feel like she kinda sucked against invincibles because a lot of her skills are tied to phase lock and a lot of bosses cant really be locked. Amara was awesome to but I hate how you have to switch between the skills in the pause menu because one of them is way better against bosses while the phase grasp is way better against mobs but you aren't able to just choose which one you want immediately which annoys me.
Mordecai has to be my favorite, running a gunslinger mod in bl1 with either a defiler or the pearlescent stalker was absolutely broken, not to mention being able to take advantage of mashers - one of the strongest guns in the game. Tears crawmerax apart
Krieg will always be my favorite vault hunter ever even on raid bosses. His unpredictably is so fun and a different kind of randomness then something like claptrap

I have a friend who loved Krieg and when he first came out and we saw the trailer for him we did a duo of Krieg and Maya and we were unstoppable. It was great because I love Krieg but I sucked with him haha. We called our characters Poop Train and Pretty Lady.

Krieg is by far the best vault hunter across the entire franchise been into borderlands since day 1 and nothing feels more like the chaos of pandora then playing as the strongest psycho on the planet.

That was exactly the purpose of Roland. People were so used to soldier-type characters in the games they play so the devs wanted to have that one character that everyone would be familiar with but could then explore the aspects of these skill trees and unique abilities. He's weak yes, but that's what makes Roland, Roland.
IMO, at least for beginners in BL3; FL4K is a great character, if you grind to level 11 in (I forget the name) the green skill tree, you can have your pet REVIVE you, you basically cannot die unless you got downed enough times that the bar drains too quickly and your pet is too far away...
Never expected Moze to be at no.1 but she deserve it, If gearbox ever decides to remake borderlands 1 & 2 they should upgrade the original BL1 skill trees
Moze is completely unsurprising to me. The reason for that? Her numbers are so obscenely broken, she can obliterate the damage cap and deal the largest theoretical single number in the entire franchise. In a power ranking it's tough to beat the character who can output enough DPS to obliterate a planet.

I would of put Cl4p in the top 5. His action skill can be chaotic, but it's borderlands. As a certain former hyperion employee turned bandit chief teaches us, to survive you embrace the chaos.

my best friend and i did a co-op full playthrough with him as zane and me as moze. once we got to the postgame stuff it was absolutely wild having both of those working together, we were absolutely absurd
Claptrap is my all time favorite playable vault hunter, his chaotic style always kept me on my toes and made his runs interesting

In BL 1 Lilith was a God. Constant ammo replenish and always healing. She phase walk and all enemies including bosses,would forget she exists. Damage going into,during and out of phase walk damages everything.

Gaige was actually the first character I ever did a playthrough with in the series. I bought Borderlands 2 with money from my first job back when I was in highschool, and I grabbed the Gaige DLC along with it. Figured I paid extra for the character, might as well play as her. Believe it or not, I didn't use Anarchy my first time through. The reduced accuracy was a big turn off to me as I was maining sniper rifles, so I just didn't invest into it. Instead, I was relying on DT to help me out, and invested into "Close Enough" while still actually trying to aim, with the idea being that it would be useful if I got downed and the only enemies to second wind myself were around a corner.
By the time I finally did decide to give Anarchy a proper try I was pretty high level, one of the old level caps. Combined with Close Enough, it's incredibly powerful. I found the best combination to be to use a class mod that gives you extra stacks of close enough so that as many shots are hitting something as possible, only invest into the base Anarchy skill (because you have to sacrifice clip size to get later skills), and use an infinity pistol (which has a clip size of 1, so it won't shoot if you sacrifice clip size). The Grog is a good gun to have as a secondary weapon, switch to it when you want to mark enemies with slag then swap to your infinity and just let loose on them. Get enough kills and each individual shot will be doing ungodly amounts of damage, and you will be landing most of them. IIRC one of her skills can also make you slag the first enemy you hit after a while, so you don't need to keep weapon swapping so much. Make sure you're actually aiming at the enemies so that as many shots are landing as possible, you will get very inaccurate but it won't matter much.
Overall, Gaige can be absolutely busted. DT went from my saving grace to feeling honestly kinda useless. I mostly only ever use him now to give the enemies something else to shoot at while I'm mowing them down. Technically you can do even more damage if you have fire weapons, which isn't very intuitive since Gaige is a shock themed character. However, I don't really mind the lost DPS from using shock weapons. Melted enemies are still melted enemies all the same, and anything that has most of it's tanking power in it's shield will rue the day it crossed my path.
My other favorites are Mordy, Lilith, Wilhelm, Nisha, Athena, Jack/Tim, Zer0, Krieg, Zane, and Moze. Among them, I'd say Mordecai, Jack, Zer0, and Moze were the most fun I had from each game. Though, I do prefer Gaige over Zer0. Maybe it's nostalgia, I dunno. I just really like playing Gaige, and I'm not sorry.
old comment, but the pre-sequel's big issue for me was just how much of the game was "stand still and wait for an annoying NPC to open a door while they tell you their life's story." BL1, 2, and 3 you can pretty much just blast through the game as fast as your character can run, but pre-sequel has so much forced waiting that I really didn't want to play it more than twice.
Once you work your way up the Ordered Chaos tree, the accuracy loss is meaningless. Especially with the N'th Degree's ricochet.
Roland and Mordecai carried in BL1. Brick was the roughest to play. The scorpion turret healed, regened amo and grenades, provided cover, gave cover fire, and spawned extra loot. Bloodwing was a quick insta kill and did good damage against bosses. Lilith was alright and synergized well with elemental SMGs, her power was typically used for running away though. Brick just punched people, which is way less cool than the others. Don't be doing my boy Roland dirty like that.
yeah roland being at the bottom just annoys me so much...the point of roland is to be more like a leader character...his turret abilities were geared specifically for coop so everyone gained health and ammunition... and Brick was not hard to play if you didn't go the tank route...if you go tank he just can't die so much shield and health...
Timothy in my opinion is the best vault hunter in any game. If i could choose 1 vault hunter to play in every game it would be him. Hes sooo much fun and his dialogue is top notch.

Honestly, just seeing how Wilhelm evolved through levelling up his skill-tree and changed to reflect that Manea me like him a lot more.
I don’t know how it would work or be done, but imagine if all the vault hunters were able to be cross played between games. It wouldn’t make sense story-wise, but the gameplay could be insane. Like playing Zayne in BL1 and Claptrap in BL3.
I would love this but all the games other than bl2 and TPS are so different with skill trees, scaling, etc.. you would have to drastically rework them to line up. I do think TPS and bl2 could be done fairly easily, sure the games scale different but I think they could work. Bl1 characters in other games would just feel bad because the skill trees don't provide enough to make them powerful enough to play. Lilith for example would go God awful in uvhm in BL2.
To make it work, just match which ever VH your playing with enemies health pool from the same VHs game. I'm thinking sorta same way you can play as a level 15 and your friend can be 45. That might work!
Yeah, Ronald to be fair was more of a support class, than a main damage class, he was my first character, and the biggest issue with Ronald is his turret which can do massive amounts of damage and truly clutch up at tough spots, is that it just takes to long for it to recharge to be viable

I played through BL1, 2, and Pre-sequel with a squad of friends a few years back. Absolutely had the fuckin time of our lives, but one of the highlights was when one of them played Claptrap. We were still figuring out the skills, and suddenly Claptrap had a bomb over his head in the middle of the firefight. Absolute chaos as we shouted at our friend to dive into the enemies instead of running towards us.
Claptrap is the most controversial pick. Claptrap is the only reason I played the prequel. Now you don’t got to worry about the stupid oxygen mechanic, but you still get a jet pack. The prequel was actually fun, and his action skill is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. He’s a top 5 character for me.
I find Iron Bear being so overpowered to be hilarious, because there was a point I'm time where all Iron Bear was good for was the temporary involuntarily you would get while entering it.
Man i love the borderlands character designs. All the summoner characters are so incredibly fun to me no matter how bad they are. Im hype to see what borderlands 4 cooks up
I like the Messy Breakup Flak, can melt everything with the right Messy Breakup and and having your pets shield break repeatedly to unleash a swarm of drones.
And red fang taunt will last even after gamma burst has ended. The pet is basically a God that somehow in mayhem 11 it's health is infinity except because of barrels

Strongest or not. Clap Trap is the most fun character to play. You probably had to play borderlands 1 when it first came out or at least before playing BL2. When I saw that Clap Trap was going to be playable, I was over the moon. Then when I realized he could turn into a pirate ship "Pirate Ships can be vault hunters right?" I almost peed myself laughing. Then I blew myself up a few times, getting the hang of it. Then I blew myself up more after that. Those ship canons do massive damage, sometimes to yourself. Yes, he's annoying, but so much fun. And, I believe, the only character that is in every BL game.

@@LogoSystemCG I played Krieg for about 10 minutes. His muttering made me not like him right away. It's one thing to be demented, but the stuff he says just seemed kind of dumb to me. So, I didn't play him long. Maybe he's powerful once built up, but getting there was too much for me.

I started the series with Axton and 2, but a few years ago, I got curious about Maya and never looked back, much as I still love Axton's character and story. Health regen from two different sources that benefit every other character she plays with and stacks with each of their own personal regen, the ability to reciprocate incoming damage in two separate instances(one of which reduces further incoming damage), pulling all enemies that were near each other together to allow for more effective area damage and control and then having them fight each other while they all take increased damage from everything, literally stealing a portion of health from enemies just via shooting them, right down to increasing the speed at which her guns just work, while all of that is happening. Maya will always be my favorite Borderlands character to play as, because I've never had another experience even close to being like her.
It hurts me a little to see Gaige at 13 because I just had a ton of fun running and gunning with her, but I appreciate the reasoning for her and the others, much of which I agree with (especially DT being a erratic. Appreciate the video amigo, thanks for doing what you do.
But I do think I'm going to see how far I can get with one life Gaige because I like pain.
Hurts here too, but let's be honest, Gaige had like 1 or 1-and-a-half viable endgame builds, and the and a half was buffing deathtrap which while my favourite, was hampered by how stupid the pet AI is in borderlands.

Gaige is who you play when you need to blow off steam. Fire up a new Gaige game, grab a two-shot Jakobs shotgun, watch your stress levels magically deplete as quickly as the enemies' health bars.

Lilith is totally a top 5-worthy character. There's a reason she's the most popular of the BL1 characters and it's because specced properly, she's damn near immortal. Run in, pop phasewalk, spread dots, pop out, kill a few enemies, pop phasewalk again, heal, done.

@@michaelbecket4901 Why is her personality shit in future games? I think she's really good in Bl2 and Bl3, but Bl3 overall suffers from low quality story. I would say her acting is the most human of all, her personality is something I can identify with. And she always picked up the slack, whenever it was needed. Maybe I'm biased but I can't find many faults in that character, I think most people can't, which is why she was fan favorite for a long time (she and Maya).

In my personal case, I judge NPCs based on their character in the games I played, because I am no speedrunner.

I’d swap Nisha and Fl4k. Endgame aside, Nisha is easily the most fun vault hunter in the series to do that initial playthrough with. I realize her defensive liabilities are tough at endgame, but presequel doesn’t have much endgame anyway.

Gaige is the most underrated character on this list. She is easily a top 8 at least. And she is super fun.
As a sniper class fan, Mordecai was my first VH. He willl always be my favourite, no matter what. Lilith comes a close second, followed by Maya, Zero and Aurelia.
My favorite is probably Nisha, using her Aimbot skill and the two Revolver ability from her skilltree makes her basically the best killing machine of them all.
The addition of the purple skill trees in 3 greatly helps iron bear's run time and armor, as well as a certain class mod that resets Moze's AS within a few seconds of igniting someone. IB with dual explosive mini guns is the biggest threat in the game you could come across. And iron cub with the right weapons can clear multiple sectors on its own. However, you shouldn't run explosive bullets on it because cub tends to get up close to enemies a lot and will blow itself to pieces quickly.
Merry Christmas K6! My favorite remains Flak. He's just so effortless with fade away and the Clairvoyance . With a great Jacobs artifact and a stackbot, he's a blast to play with!

Playing with maximum FOV and accidentally doing a Zane Speedbuild was one of the most fun experiences I have had in these games. My friend would laugh so hard when he saw me running across the map like I was the Flash or something
I just have to pop in before fully watching to both comment for the algorithm, and to say that despite BL3 being my absolute #1 in the franchise, there may never be VH that hits it for me like Krieg does. His 3 vastly different yet super synergistic skill trees make him a character I feel like I could theory craft with for ever, and his dialogue is still just as amazing as it was that first playthrough. God I love Krieg

Highly disagree with the krieg placement. I mean, most bl2 VH can’t do raid bosses at OP10, at least his playstyle is vastly different from others allowing different guns like the CC and slowhand to be useful without a bee shield. One thing i dislike is the flame of the firehawk blindness LMAO, but deff better than stacking anarchy each time you load in.
I had to put him somewhere and no matter where I put him I was going to hear about it. I like Krieg, but I don't enjoy playing Krieg that much.
Took him to level 80. Wasn't a fan of the playstyle

Honestly I love Roland because of how simple he is. Really all you need is Metal Storm, Stat, maybe Aid Station, and any half-decent fully auto Combat Rifle and you can pretty much hold down the trigger and become nearly unstoppable.
Definitely agree with Zane and Moze at the top. Those two are such utter crack to play.
You must've been one of those that really got punched in the gut when Handsome Jack backshot him... Also shed a tear at Bunkers and Badasses?

I think with how balanced the BL3 vault hunters are, I have to say that Salvador is the strongest vault hunter. He’s the only character that can *reasonably* beat every single raid boss in borderlands 2 by himself
Theres a feeling you get with sal, where you go down, 3/4 of fight for your life gone, down not out comes of CD, and just wasting the raid boss to get back up. While sal screams "I. AM. ALLLLLLLIVE." that is very hard to put into words.

Fragtrap is definetly in my top 10. If you skip out on some of his skill tree spots that add damage to specific things (elemental, weapon type, if your using melee or not) because they can add weapon debuffs if your not using the right thing, i skipped out on the melee one and the elemental one in the red tree, made it so most of my shots will deal explosive damage no matter what element im using, made explosions deal more damage (ties in really well with the last skill). So mostly green and blue tree and then throw all you red without the hammer icon and the elemental die.
Got BL3 a week ago. When trying to inspect the heroes to decide which one I play first, I clicked on Zane and it just started the game. I just rolled with it, and damn! Zane is so freaking fun.
Got him to level 51 tonight. Didn’t look at a single guide, and went down the blue tree first. I thought it would be too tough to top Tim the Doppleganger but Zane is my favorite of the franchise as of now.

My go-to for Moze was the Lucky 7 Revolver from the Handsome Jackpot DLC. The setup was a bit tedious at times, but once you hit all the perks, or even just the 7-shot and auto-crit, combined with her having effectively infinite ammo, the entire game was pretty much a cakewalk with just that one gun alone. Then there was Iron Bear which I didn't even use most of the time because it felt like cheating. Dual cannons, damn near two-tap just about any boss or badass that didn't get immediately atomized by the Lucky 7.
Moze is far and away the most fun vault hunter I've played across the entire franchise.

I did the most raid runs with her.
She’s great on BL1 but those skill trees are just sad compared to the new games. Still none of these characters are actually BAD

I got back into Borderlands thanks to the Pandora collection and theres something I appreciate in BL3
the amount of health recovery you can do. I remember playing first BL2 and just dying over and over like in Dark Souls because health regen was a joke if it isnt a weapon doing the healing

how could you not mention one of Athena's best features: her Blood Rush skill, which lets her rapidly dash forward and attack enemies with her blade. combined with melee skills like Rend it's just a ton of fun dashing around like an anime swordsman cutting down every enemy on screen

Moze was my 1st pick when I started BL 3. Then Amara, love how she can do an elemental Kamehameha wave! 👍🏻
Really loving Zane for a first play through of BL 3 I just love that one of his core skills is murdering stuff which makes him move insanely fast which makes him better at murdering stuff. I’m like a bullet train that was also given access to high power weaponry
My top 5 based on the fun I have with them (in no particular order) would be: Krieg, Moze, Timothy, Claptrap and Amara.
I have never killed faster with more survivability than with Zane. He is on a completely different level than all the other characters.
When Moz’s head popped up I thought it was Ava and my stomach sank but then you said the name and let out a sigh of relief.
I wish I could take any of these Vault Hunters through the franchise games, keeping them updated to the newest thing. Athena is my favorite, and I'd love to be able to play her in the other games. :(

You're not wrong on Krieg's positon pissing people off. He's pretty much the best if you go into the explosive axe throwing stuff, even against big enemies.
I was fr expecting zero to be top 3 with his 1 shot melee build that was able to wipe raid bosses in 2-3 hits
