Just got my zx4rr and it is soo much fun!!! It has a fantastic sounding engine, it’s easy to ride, and phenomenal engagement with the machine every time. Great bike!
I've lived thru the 90s when RGV250, TZR250 and NSR250 were the rage and they were. The GSXR400, VFR400 ZX400RR all were bad ass bike in the 90s that America never got! The ones lucky enough to find gray market imports with CA tag were super expensive and rare. For me, I'm just getting something I were never able to get in the USA and the 40th livery reminds me of my late mother. I'm also one of those guys that believe a 600 is still a bit too much bike for a 5'7'' guy?
ZX6R you can't ride it to it's potential legally on the street. You just can't. ZX4RR you can, which means you get the joy of riding the hell out of a bike, while not breaking every law on the planet. It's also cheaper now than it was. Kawasaki listened...with the year end discount, and military discount I got a 40th anniversary edition 4RR for about $9500, out the door for a hair over 10K. The 6R would have been 12.5K+ easy. That's 25% more for those of you who are paying attention. I have been riding for 35 years....I own a Ducati Streetfighter V2 and an R1....and this little 400 is SO fun to ride. If I were building a track day bike I'd go with the 6, but the daily rider is the 4RR ALL DAY.
The entire purpose of a supersport is extra-legal speed and sharp cornering ability... why spend similar money on a 400 and kneecap yourself for no benefit beyond saving a couple grand? Makes zero sense to buy the zx4rr when the zx6r exists. Maybe if the 4 was 100lbs lighter but... it's not
Wrong! YOU can't ride a ZX6R to its full potential on the street, but some people sure can. "The law," "speed limits,"and "staying out of trouble" is an oxymoron for crotch rockets, dude. That's the most regurgitated bullshit line. People who have no idea what they're talking about repeat it because it sounds safe and conservative. You don't have any business giving advice about what should someone should ride for the money they spend.
Av the 40th anniversary zx44rr I payed 10.800 for mine had gsxr600 before that ninja 650 then z900 I love the zx4rr real screamer and the quick shifter so smooth
The zx6r maybe a better value in the short term but long term. The high theft, the insurance, the traffic tickets. Yeah It may go 180mph but I live in Ohio I'm not racing supercars like they do in LA, Florida, or Texas. People drive Kias and Volkswagens up here and I'm sure the zx4rr would do well enough, my HD Softail does. Now what makes me want a zx4rr is the noise.....it reminds me of a Carrera GT or LFA the way it howls and I'm to poor to afford those cars. The Cbr650, Xrs900 all good sounding but the zx4rr is the best sounding motorcycle on the market to me.
It is way more fun to ride a slow bike fast instead of a fast bike slow. On my R6 I never had to change the gears to reach the speed limit. Not much fun at all. I picked up an R3 after I had a nasty back injury. The truth is that I have more fun on the R3. It now my daily rider.
Kirk please do a video on why you chose this over an R7, if you havent already. Same power as your bike tuned with double the torque. I think R7 is best street bike imo and would love to hear your thoughts, it has the most hardcore ergos out of all the non super sports and a lot of people dont like it for that reason🤔
The thing with the power niche. I think this thing fills a good spot where it's a cool 399cc i4 that is fast for just street riding and is a good tool to learn with on the track. Someone could buy this, then later buy a 1000cc and still have a reason to keep the 4RR. Someone who gets a 600cc just because it is fast will probably just sell it to get a 1000 because it is just faster and has more features.
Zx6r definitely is the better buy based off performance to dollar value but the main difference is the ZX6r is stupid uncomfortable for regular riding compared to the Zx4rr
@@worst-hd-player because the clipons should be positioned and tailored for each rider. Companies use a standard default set for everyone, but it doesn’t suit all riders. Ergonomics is easy to skip because it has no flash, but it makes the bike more personalized for the rider and allows them to get the most out of their bike by increasing comfort and control. Many track riders use aftermarket clipons to widen them and reduce their angle. Almost all the super sport bike clipons from the factory are very narrow and have a sharp angle downwards.

Perfect video!! Man, i've been stuck for weeks trying to decide on a bike. #1,2 and3 factors for me is the FUN, SOUND and safety....hence don't want a bike larger than a 500. My choices are a used Ninja 400, a New 500 SE or a new ZX4RR. The sound on this is unbeatable and looks the funnest of the bunch. I can do all the mods on a 400/500 but would it even sound close to this zx4rr machine?
This bike is really weak specially in lower reps which is used more in the city start stops . My Duke 390 makes more torque than this Kawi at lower rpms and it’s much lighter, but I feel it’s veryyyy weak. I don’t know how you’re enjoying so much. Maybe because I have at least 15 years of experience with a gap of 10 years. But whatever works and you like is important ❤
Though I would to still hear his review. I rode here in OK during an Aprilia event in Tulsa. The bike is gutless. Low HP, and there is something funky in 2nd gear. Feels like it just dies. Really funky part, when I mentioned it to them, they said they "know about." Okay! What is it???
I'm torn between R7, zx6r and zx4rr. I'm actually leaning towards the zx4rr so I can ring it out on the streets lol. Unless i find an amazing deal on the zx6r.. the zx4rr might be the way!
I had almost the same bike options, I went zx4rr because of the 4 banger symphony. And I’ll be able to be in high revs from Street light to street light.
Just got my zx4rr and it is soo much fun!!! It has a fantastic sounding engine, it’s easy to ride, and phenomenal engagement with the machine every time. Great bike!
There’s nothing like leaning on a zx6r. Not the best daily but the zx6r is an experience like no other

Yes you can. It's called smaller front sprocket and larger rear
You guys are just falling for the news articles

@@trippleoseven Actually, many of us do. Because we aren't douchebags.
That quick shift up and down I’m very jealous.

It goes 145 stock... 150 downhill. Tuned maybe 170

Exactly
Besides owning a zx4r because it is more of a novelty, there is no reason to go for it over the zx6r
did you watch? cheaper insurance, better ergos, better Q/S, etc.
There is a video going around on YT of the ZX4RR doing 0-60 MPH in 4.19 seconds.

4RR has better brakes, better suspension, and is a four cylinder.

It’s very easy to get higher clipons (risers) and have a more upright back angle.
@ but why get a supersport just to raise the bars?

@ only on days that I felt lazy and just did not want to change gears. Our highest speed limit is 55 mph.

A twin will never sound like a screaming four.
ZX6 waaaaay better bike. Period.
Since you like redlining it in a straight-line so much maybe you should do a video about attending the Rickey Gadson Drag Racing School.
No choice. Florida is only straight and flat
Screaming bike but stock headers sounds like F1 car
636 is superior, you can still prefer the 4RR though
Considering supersport bikes, The best buy in 2025 is the cbr 600rr!!!
In America we still get the old one. UK has the new generation 😭

Yeah idk why anyone gets a zx4. None of your points were valid.
LOL....90% of riders say IT"S THE SOUND and FUN FACTOR.....no other 400 or 500 comes close!
