Ann is a National Treasure! Her voice is incredible and she still gives me chills til this day when she sings. ❤️❤️❤️. Nancy is an amazing guitarist who's highly underrated. Rock on Ladies 🎤🎶❤️
Yes she was our Floor Jansen back in the late 70's. I'm not sure now a days but up to 10 years ago she still had it. Just listen to her during the Led Zeppelin induction to the Kennedy Center Honors.
Their Dad was a Marine, and while he wanted a classical music path for his girls, he supported them in what they wanted. Their Mom was a pianist; I think it shows in their arrangements!
My uncle who hardly ever listened to rock, thought every female rock musician that came on the radio was Heart. "Is that Heart?" I can still hear him say. (he passed away 5 years ago at age 80)
This song is 10x amazing when you watch the official live video when Nancy Wilson started strumming the guitar while the wind was blowing her hair on stage. Ultimate rock badass moment!
Tahoe Mike YESSS! Seeing someone experience a song that feels like a close friend to you is what makes music such a gift. It also helps that Jamel knows how to feel the music!
Ann Wilson (the brunette) was the singer. Nancy Wilson (the blonde) played guitar. But they had another guitarist Roger Fisher. Nancy played the phenomenal acoustic intro. I think Roger played more of the electric guitar parts.
Actually there was a tribute to Led Zepplin in Washington and Heart/Anna performed Stairway to heaven for Robert Plant and the attending members of the band it was pretty awesome its on youtube.
Yes, that is Ann and Nancy playing guitars! This was 1976. Yes, they were sisters! And they are both fantastic singers. I'm sure the men were intimidated by Heart's talent, but it wasn't an easy road for these girls to break out during that time. It's too bad you couldn't have gotten a video of them performing this. Very talented: singers with guitars and they write their own music! And they are still going strong.
Ann doesn't play on this track. Nancy does the intro and that really amazing percussive acoustic rhythm, Roger Fisher electric lead, Howard Leese electric rhythm. Ann plays on some of their acoustic tracks, especially when Nancy is playing (or, I should say, completely shredding) mandolin.
They performed "Stairway to Heaven" in front of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones at the Kennedy Center Honoring Led Zeppelin. You need to check that out. Robert Plant sheds a tear.
Jamel, seriously. Please check out the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Zeppelin featuring Heart. You won’t be sorry. Obama & Michelle were there rocking out too. I saw Heart last year at The Hollywood Bowl and sound the same 40 years later. Beautiful and ridiculously talented women.
If you've never seen it, watch them do Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatter's live in Seattle in 2000. Nancy puts on a stellar performance that makes Elton proud.

Heart had it all. Powerful, beautiful vocals, enough guitar mastery for 3 bands. Great songs. They could rock out as good as any band out there but could also slow it down and deliver the most beautiful ballad. Plus, yes, they were nice to look at. Beauty and power!
Great choice, you should watch this live version, phenomenal performance. When Heart hit the airwaves back in the 70's, they were huge. Ann and Nancy Wilson are epic.
Nancy plays that opening acoustic guitar. She is talented beyond words. Ann sings like the siren of all poetic meaning. The rest of the band are extremely talented instrumentalists and Heart's work in the '70s was breathtaking. Listen to DOG AND BUTTRRFLY and MISTRAL WIND. Unbelievably good.
You really need to watch a live performance of this! And Anne Wilson has the best female voice in rock!! Nancy also sings, but Ann sings lead on 99% of their songs. Nancy is an amazing guitarist in her own right! I believe this was '74

This was what the adults played when I was young. They all tailored their stereo equipment to play each sound. That's how I learned so much about stereos and sound mixing. My sister wanted us to be Ann and Nancy. 😄
When you've reacted to a lot more of Heart's great music I have a suggestion that will be a real treat for you. Check out their performance of Stairway to Heaven honoring the surviving members of Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. I believe both sisters were in there early sixties at the time. Best cover of Stairway ever done; brought Robert Plant to tears!
The great thing about the Wilson sisters is that they keep getting better and better. Nancy can still slay those guitar licks and Ann can still hit those notes. Heart puts so many other bands to shame. When other groups should have packed it in and retired long ago, Heart is still making magic happen. Enjoyed seeing your reaction to this. Would love to see you react to KISS performing "I Still Love You". Blessings to you!

1975 the Wilson sisters, both super super talented and both meticulous at what they did for instants the intro to the song the acoustic guitar part was Nancy Wilson and she stayed in the studio for practically 18 hours straight recording that piece over and over before she was happy with it..
WOW. Think I was about 20 when I saw Heart for the first time. Tad Gormly Stadium in New Orleans. I climbed up on the fence around the stage. Security wanted me down. Ann said to let me stay on the fence and asked me what I wanted to hear. I said "Crazy on you". WOW
"Heartless" was from the "Magazine" album, which was originally released by the group's original label, Mushroom records. Mushroom's release (which came out on LP only in '77, featuring different mixes/different performances for some tracks & a different song sequence from what's become the standard version of the album, along with a disclaimer on the back cover) was not authorized by the band & this led to some very heated legal battles, ultimately resulting in any & all copies of the Mushroom version being available to be recalled/destroyed. Some copies made it out Into the world, but they're very hard to come by. I heard the original mix of "Heartless" first &, to this day, much prefer it to the more familiar mix. The "official" version of "Magazine" (with a new vocal mix version of "Heartless") was finally released in 1978. I once met Ann Wilson at a special signing at a Guitar Center (Howard Leese was there, too) & asked what had happened. Ann said that the label owed the band money.
Wilson sisters are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! You should do a reaction to their cover of "Stairway to Heaven" in front of Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors. LEGENDARY!
1975, Jamal. From about '65 to '75 were about the best stretch of music, for me. There were some gems before and certainly after, but I think the concentration of damn good songs and good bands were in that range. Wish you could have been there, too, Jamal...I'd have liked to see you in a mega-fro, popular back in the late 60's, early 70's.
Heart was told women cannot headline auditoriums. So they said screw you, literally invested every penny they had and financed their own tour. If it failed they would have walked away. They basically paved the way for women to be equal to men in the 70s. And yes, they were so damn beautiful. And proved that they can hang and even out do many acts. In fact, many male bands refused to be on the bill because they were not the headliners and they could blow most bands off the stage. Almost every woman after them said Heart was there major influence.
The Wilson sisters are from Seattle - and Ann Wilson was a huge fan of Alice in Chains. She sang on two songs on their SAP album, Brother and Am I Inside
Ann Wilson has so much power in her voice! There is a live version of this, not the midnight special version either. It was 1977. The beginning guitar is Nancy playing.
Can you please check out Halestorm, Love Bites, I Miss the Misery, Freak Like Me or any of their songs!!!! Another great and powerful female lead vocalist 😊
YES THEY DO!!! Part of the reason I suggested them on this feed 😉 I would like for him to do one of their originals first before their covers. They also cover Pat Benatar and Jonna Jett 😁
I’d vote for “Amen,” “Conflicted,” or the music video of “Familiar Taste of Poison”. I saw them in 2018, and almost went last summer, but the venue didn’t have floor “seats” and I didn’t like the headliner (Halestorm headlined in ‘18, and I was 3rd from the stage).
Jamal: "sounds a little country"
Nancy Wilson: "hold my beer"

My thoughts exactly! I was just sitting here like "wait for it!"

Ann Wilson - One of the most powerful voices in rock - male or female.
When she can make Robert Plant cry with their version of Stairway to Heaven that says it all...
and the only one that can keep up with Ann vocally, is Nancy..
I agree totally legendary band and artists !!!
Ann supposedly had classical training: opera... thus the great vocal range.
No disagreement here :)
It’s not just their vocal range. Ann Wilson’s voice has power to spare.
That's why my favorite is still "Dream of the Archer"

of the Mushroom version
being available to be
recalled/destroyed.
Some copies made it
out Into the world,
but they're very hard
to come by.
I heard the original mix
of "Heartless" first
&, to this day, much prefer it
to the more familiar mix.
The "official" version of "Magazine"
(with a new vocal mix version
of "Heartless") was finally
released in 1978.
I once met Ann Wilson at a special
signing at a Guitar Center
(Howard Leese was there, too)
& asked what had happened.
Ann said that the label owed
the band money.
Straight On is my favorite.
Wilson sisters are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! You should do a reaction to their cover of "Stairway to Heaven" in front of Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors. LEGENDARY!
Magic man, what about love, even it up.
Even it up. Yyyaaaassss
Kori Sosuke If Looks Could Kill. 👍
Wilson sisters. Ann sang, Nancy played acoustic guitar and sang harmony. This album was 1975.
Lots Ford "kiss me deadly" the Runaways "Cherry bomb" and Joan Jett " I love rock n roll"
Lita Ford I ment
Was just thinking about Kiss Me Deadly the other day.👍
tammy barlow Lita Ford “Gotta Let Go” is also a good one.
If I Close My Eyes Forever
Great reactions! Three other great songs by Heart are ‘What About Love’, ‘If Looks Could Kill’, and ‘Alone’.
Heart! Jamal...check out "Straight On" "Kick it Out" and "Magic Man"!
Thanks
1975, Jamal. From about '65 to '75 were about the best stretch of music, for me. There were some gems before and certainly after, but I think the concentration of damn good songs and good bands were in that range. Wish you could have been there, too, Jamal...I'd have liked to see you in a mega-fro, popular back in the late 60's, early 70's.
This song is from 1976 or 1977, I believe. I think you should respond to "Alone" next. It's probably one of their best-known songs.
Nancy Wilson plays that amazing guitar intro. This music is from the 1970s. My 32 year old son thinks Nancy is a goddess.
I was blessed to see Heart 4 years ago. Ann Wilson sounded perfect still. She is as good a rock vocalist that ever took a breath of air.
Whoo! Can't beat the Wilson sisters, Anne and Nancy. Saw them in Cleveland, OH 1977. Anne can belt them out for sure.
Go see them in concert!!!!!! It’s absolutely amazing!!!!
Ann Wilson has so much power in her voice! There is a live version of this, not the midnight special version either. It was 1977. The beginning guitar is Nancy playing.
Saw them many times, love them!
"Big difference between hearing & listening". Amen to that!
Heart is one of my favorite rock bands.
Can you please check out Halestorm, Love Bites, I Miss the Misery, Freak Like Me or any of their songs!!!! Another great and powerful female lead vocalist 😊
They do an amazing cover of Heart's "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You" as well!
YES THEY DO!!! Part of the reason I suggested them on this feed 😉 I would like for him to do one of their originals first before their covers. They also cover Pat Benatar and Jonna Jett 😁
@@Socrates_1775 Agreed. I'd love to see him do an original, and (personal preference) one from either the Halestorm album or The Strange Case Of...
Lzzy Hale has an **incredibly** powerful voice. It's really spectacular.
