    Of course, many below will mention how HEART loved LED ZEPPELIN, and 35 years later, in honor of them, HEART sings a rendition of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN in front of LED ZEPPELIN - and is considered one of the finest tribute renditions ever - AND it will shed a tear or two on how moving it was to them, LED ZEPPELIN, and the audience at the time. Highly recommended to watch.

    As incredible as her voice is right here, she only got better with age. It's mindboggling. At 62 years old, Ann Wilson delivered one of the greatest vocal performances in all of music. As far as I'm concerned, until I see another female rock vocalist outdo that performance, at that age... Ann Wilson is the one, and only, Queen of Rock.

    Howard Leese was the guitarist, who also played keyboards on certain songs. He was who you saw on the left side of the stage. Roger Fisher was the other guitarist on the right side of the stage, playing the Les Paul Guitar. The bassist, to the left- center of the stage is Steve Fossen, the drummer was Mike DeRosier, and of course Ann Wilson (Vocals) and Nancy Wilson (Acoustic Guitar) rounded out this line up. I'm a bigger fan of their mid to late 70s songs, so check out "Barracuda", "Straight On", or "Magic Man".

    • @bettyrose959
      @bettyrose959 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they were still fugitives when this was filmed. Well, I should say Ann and her boyfriend were. They really weren't well received in the states until later in the 70's because of Mike's Fisher's draft dodging. The whole band moved to Canada to avoid the legal issues and a chance of others being drafted. I could only imagine how much bigger they could have been if they had early radio airplay. That was their best and I still feel it is today. Kind of makes me laugh seeing the band was first called Army. Anyway, they had to fight an industry to even preform over most of their career. Not many bands would have survived let alone had the success they have had with everything they went through. Some of their own doing, most was not.

    Good eye gents! Yes, Howard Leese served both positions as backup lead guitarist AND keyboard/ synth player. However on their original single, Magic Man, during live performances, sister Nancy who traditionally plays lead acoustic guitar (and backing vocals to Ann) subs on the synthesizer while Howard and Roger Fisher battle it out on dueling elec guitar solos. Their original (1975-1979) was extremely talented and versatile.

I was lucky enough to catch the Tail end of it in the lat 70's, was on Saturday nights from Midnight (obviously haha) till like 1 or 1:30. There was another show before that called Don Kirshner's Rock concert, that ran from 73-81. Same concept, but much heavier bands usually. Like UFO, Nazerath and even Zeppelin was asked, but declined. Don Kirshner was a record Producer, he created the Monkees, the first real bad to ever be assembled from scratch, they were intended to be Americas version of the Beatles..

    Ann and Nancy Wilson are sisters. Nancy opened the song with the acoustic solo introduction. they were about 21 or so in this video, and very early in their careers. I think this was 1977.

    The Midnight Special was on every Friday ( I think ) night back in the day of 3 channel network TV
    It featured actual live performances from an incredibly wide variety of groups. Even Weather Report was on there. There are quite a few of these on TH-cam.
