FWIW, Dr. Idriss briefly discusses urea in her video about fine lines and wrinkles. It’s in the skincare gradients section of the video - the second ingredient she talks about, after glycerin:

I'm big into Korean beauty and love Centella, it's a prime ingredient in korean products, it's in like almost everything. I always loved the Purito and Cosrx centella products, and also VT cosmetics. I have dry and sensitive skin so Centella saves my skin especially in winter. The Benton centella sheet masks are also a skin saviour for me when my skin feels irritated, they calm everything down so well

I absolutely adore centella asiatica. It really a favorite of mine. I have an combination skin and inflamatory acne prone but also extremely reactive and sensitive, and atm I deal with redness and PIE…. :/ and i feel everytime i do not use centella asiatica based products I can feel a difference in my skin. My skin benefits SO much of it. I am actually using the laneige sleeping mask tonight and the cicaplast cream and my skin feels so soft. Centella deserves a lot of praise and much more in the western world! I feel it can benefit many many skin types really.

Thank you Dr. Shereene for this video, as always I loved the deep dive as one of your devoted "lil skin nerds"! 😇
Just fyi, Gotu kola is the Sinhalese name of Centella asiatica, Mandukaparni being the Hindi name and Thankuni (th pronounced as th in thank you) in Bengali. The Hindi and Bengali names pertain to India (out of the many languages of our country) and I couldn't help but slip in this information.
Thank you for all that you do, dear Doc!

From Kolkata, West Bengal, India ♥️🙏🇮🇳

It should be noted that CICA doesn't always refer to centella asiatica - cica also just means "healing." The Avene Cicalfate Cream actually doesn't contain ANY centella in it.

Yes, thank you for noting this on “CICA”.
Much to my despair, Centella asiatica irritates and makes my rosacea worse. Avene’s Cicalfate+ restorative protective cream is my HG for a rich healing cream and has no relation to Centella.
Dr. Idriss, is there any way you can denote this language difference in your video’s description or pin a comment to the top to make that clear for people? ❤️

@@MiladyToxic most of my skincare is Snail Mucin focused, Mizon brand. I always had rough skin with lots of texture, pigments never used sunscreen until last year (I'm 34), I'm finally "clear" now if that makes any sense. my skincare is very personal and bizarre to some, but it worked for me
      AM: 7 steps
      Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
      Toner: Mizon Snail Repair Toner
      Essence: Mizon Snail Repair Essence
      Serum: Mizon Snail Intensive Ampoule
Cream: Mizon All in One Snail Cream
Moisturizer: Cetaphil Redness Relief Night moisturizer
      Sunscreen: La Roche posay Shaka
      PM: 6 steps
      Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
      Essence: Mizon Snail Repair Essence
      Treatment: Netruogena Retinol Oil
      Eye: Neutrogena Retinol Eye Cream
Cream: Cosrx All in One Snail cream
Moisturizer: Cetaphil Redness Relief Night moisturizer
The reason for the cream and moisturizer, the Mizon and the Cosrx snail creams dry quickly, but if you apply a moisturizer to seal everything in, you'll feel amazing the next day, that Cetaphil Redness is severely underrated (it has Niancinimide, licorice root, hyaluronic acid, Shea Butter, ceramides, panthenol)

Sat with my coffee basting my face with CICA baume and click on the video to see the topic, haha...love it!
...as a really pink person with uneven redness everywhere I always found the camo green tints just settle into my pores and do little else...anyone have suggestions? what worked for you?

    • @julieme7927
      @julieme7927 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Same exact thing even though my pores aren't particularly large. If your redness is like mine and is broken capillaries then creams don't help much in solving it. Only laser treatments can help get rid of them but I think creams help maintain the results. The settling jnto pores thing can be resolved by waiting until it has disappeared before applying foundation.

Good day Dr Idriss . First of all Thank You for the educational videos . It is unbelievable how easily one can understand things that was amazingly complicated before videos like those , so again Thank You!!
Still ,i do want to ask you for something after i try to explain a few things, so please bare with me.
Unfortunately not all of us are grown up in the health family that teaches us to respect and care for ourselves. That being said, i as well as many other people, am struggling with drug abuse and give my fights with my demons. That doesn’t mean i don’t do my best to care for myself. Still can’t say i am smoke free , don’t have the super healthy life ,and i AM trying my best on these fields as well .
Would you say, there would be a reason to make a video on how people on bad habits can use products- find ways to hydrate better, exfoliate risk free and in general together with the struggles on quit drugs , what one can do to give the skin more benefits than a person with a normal life ?
I do not know if you will read or answer to my post however i thank you for all you do as far for us who did not have the chance to get the proper education about skin care ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤💛🤎❤️‍🔥

How our gut influences our skin? I have IBD and every time it gets active my skin gets really bad. Especially hands, lips and body skin...can you make a video maybe about gut-skin connection? I think that would be really interesting ❤️

I bought Dr. Jarts at your recommendation and am obsessed with it for my rosacea. I was wondering if you could chat about the copper peptides. I have seen this popping up everywhere and have no clue what the deal is with it and if it is BS trend or not.

I bought the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Redness Rescue Kit about a month ago to try out the Tiger Grass products and it really has helped my skin balance out. I’ve been going through so many products, but couldn’t find the right fit. If you’re looking to try it out the kit is an affordable option. I’ve since bought the full versions, and use it conjunction with my night Tretinoin prescription.

You look gorgeous dr. Idriss! I use SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule, it is a great k beauty product as well. But i want to ask again - clould you please make a video for the different kind ot sunscreen filters. There are new ones but are they better? And i have heard, that some of them conflict each other and you should reapply only the same product throwout the day. But if you want to mix them? I like mixing tinted and white sunscreens to get more natural look. Is that ok??

Centella asiatica has many names in India. It's called gotu Kula , brahmi, manukaparni and kodangal in ayurveda. It's mostly used for boosting memory.

Good morning Shereene :D I have a not-so-related question! I'm really trying to get some dermatologists opinion on shampoo bars and conditioner bars?
I mean, how do you know if they can really have a completely different form, and still have the same properties? We still don't really see the most common/trusted manufacturers of shampoo and conditioner making things in solid form. So I think this area is like a vacuum space for new, often "natural" products to thrive, and nobody knows if it's good for you or not...?
    Thank you in advance.

I've recently stumbled on your page and I'm OBSESSED!!! More Drs need to be like you!! I've watched a bunch of the videos and have a few qs:, I was always told to apply products from thinnest to thickest, but I saw that you applied your Vitamin C(thick), and the Aveeno serum (thin) after. Can you please clarify if the order indeed matters?
Also, what are your thoughts on the brand Kiehl's?

Sisley Ecological serum has centella asiatica. I love it so much it sparked my interest in the ingredient, I was surprised with how this caught on in the skincare world and I’m highly motivated to try more affordable brands once I’m through with my Sisley.
