in the hypothetical where I constantly hopped on my dinosaur dog to swap to my hunting horn and give myself an attack up buff, I'd still be thankful if a hunting horn user showed up and let me skip that whole sequence by providing those buffs permenantly for everyone
Because then you could bring another weapon type for a scenario, as opposed to always keeping a HH just to buff up (which still takes time, and requires refreshing every now and then) and switching back.
Hunting Horn actually benefits from pocket Horn. The biggest advantage is that Hunting Horn MASSIVELY synergises with itself. Stack multiple buffs, multiple bubbles, have 2 different movesets essentially (Due to offset melody having different effects on different weapons and there being different types of echo wave now) HH is now an all in one weapon that can do blunt damage, buff, cut tails (With Hilt stabs and Echo wave slicing!), do Status really well, deal good damage, stun, exhaust, deal good element, break parts and spread joy. Anyone not wanting a Horn in the Party and respecting mains is clinically insane. And with pocket Horn we can ALWAYS adapt to the situation how we need. If anything Horn benefits from another Horn MUCH more than any other weapon would. Another thing is that these meta slaves would have to learn optimal note play. And maybee it persuades some into trying out the weapon as a whole and getting converted into a new main. I only see good things with the "Pocket Horn"-problem.
All of those problems would be easily be solved with just not doing the thing they don't like. Don't want to use a pocket hunting horn? Then use a different secondary weapon. Don't want to be replaced by someone switching to hunting horn for buffs? Why do you care? Are you not using a weapon for the fun of using a weapon? What a weird complaint.
Gonna Summarize my comment on the previous video: "Great Sword Is my baby, Love that weapons to death, but if someone wants to bring a 'Pocket GS' just for wake up hits, I support you wholeheartedly" We all are replacable to an extent, but a "Pocket weapon" Will never replace your entire existance in a hunt, specially if you stop a moment to understand the value during the COMPLETE Quest, instead of just SHORT TERM small moments. For example, if I seriously thought someone using a Pocket GS for wake up hits Is replacing me, implying that the only thing I do Is punch sleeping monsters, my dude, at that moment I'm just replacing myself
People complain about pocket horn but never consider that if someone brings horn as their main weapon people won't have to carry a pocket horn , allowing more diversity in the team composition.
A light or heavy bowgun seems more appealing to me. Imagine shooting sleep or paralysis ammo and then switching to a heavy one for a big explosion. I'm sure you can do this with different weapons. If it’s too powerful, they could add a cooldown for switching weapons.
As a HH main for years now. I am just excited I won’t have to take attack up as a song anymore, cause most people with pocket horns will be using it so I can play full support and go with things like health’s recovery and earplugs. I could before but I always felt like attack up just did so much more for my fellow hunters. I’m also excited to try two horns with 2 different song lists, and I also would love to try lbg as a secondary for status ammo, and then I can be the biggest blessing on every hunt I come across.
Unfortunately, the Attack Up idea is probably not gonna work the way you think. Attack Up only lasts like, 2-3 minutes, so other hunters pocket horning won't be able to keep it active as well as a HH user would. Ironically, it'd work a lot better the other way around if anything since utility songs are usually longer and more manageable
A hunting horn sometimes won't be able to replace a hunting horn all the time... In fact, if they both refresh the duration then it cannot replace it at all. It just helps? And who knows, they could have 2 different song sheets so it's fine!
Tbh with how many buffs/changes we’ve heard they are giving HH in Wilds it’s actually pretty insane on its own to the point where people pockethorning may give them a chance to discover how good it is. Like seriously it received a damage buff, better flow into its moveset, huge damage opportunities with the new bubble mechanic and wayyyy more customization with the soundwaves to the point where you can even have them deal cutting damage. Aside from personal preference, I really haven’t heard a reason you’d want to play hammer over hh in wilds
I think the problem with arguments like gmerc's is that HH buffs are absolutely not mandatory for hunts in the first place. They definitely aren't mandatory for speedruns. They aren't even mandatory for multiplayer speedruns. 4 pure dps weapon speedruns are faster than a 3 pure dps weapon + 1 HH run. If the idea is that your entire weapon is going to be "replaced" because it's won't be optimal, it's already not "optimal" according to what most people consider optimal. The buffs are simply not necessary in that regard. I can't speak for other people, but the idea of having to constantly go run to a mount, swap weapons, jump off, buff, go back to the mount, swap weapons and chase a monster doesn't exactly sound great to me. That sounds like an insane level of tedium. And it doesn't account for the fact that HH buffs don't last forever. I'm not stopping my hunt every minute just to run back to my mount, swap weapons, jump off, buff myself, get back on my mount, and swap weapons again. That sounds like I'd be spending half the hunt not doing anything but swapping kit. No thanks. And none of that accounts for the fact that I like to play *with* other people in multiplayer. I don't think of other players as NPCs, or treat them as effectively DPS buffs or monster distractions. Now, I can't speak for everyone, but despite the fact that I like to clear hunts as fast *as I can* and the fact that I know that HH isn't going to get the fastest time-to-kill, I have never once had an HH join me and thought, "Ahh, crap." Every time - every single time - my instant reaction is, "Oh thank god, this is going to be so much easier and funner now!" I have a stronger positive reaction to a HH joining me than any other weapon. I haven't met anyone who consistently ran with an HH player that didn't feel this way. And the buffs are just one part of it. I mostly play cutting weapons. Having someone along who can not only buff me but also score knockout/knock downs? Who can do wake up damage? Who can break parts that I can't? Who can hit the other parts of the monster I'll bounce on? Why would I pass on any of that stuff? Because I'm dumb? Well, I am dumb, but I try to be as smart as I can which is exactly why I love HH mains in multiplayer. I just don't see the "pocket horn" argument as making a lot of sense. It just doesn't follow through on any kind of logic to me. I think the only thing you might see it affect are scripted speedruns. Everything non-scripted I just don't see it actually affecting how anyone plays. I can understand why someone might feel like this is making them less important when they first encounter the idea, but I'll be honest with my HH mains out there - the only people who don't want you in their parties with them either don't understand how valuable you are, or the sort of people who were going to kick you anyway because HH buffs don't get leaderboard positions on speedruns. I would rather have an HH with me than literally *any other weapon*. You don't have to worry about me kicking you and I know for a fact that I can't replace everything you bring to the hunt, nor do I care to try with a "pocket horn". I can promise you that.
I'm bringing an LBG as my main and a pocket LBG. If everyone else is bringing pocket horns, I won't need to bring one. I hope you guys bring different horns, so I can have all of the different buffs. Attack Up doesn't stack, just because 3 different hunters played the song.
Since no one's talking about it, I assume other Weapon Types' buffs don't carry over? (Particularly Extracts?) Then let someone else bring Divine Blessing while I cover Fire Resistance. Of all the things that _"should"_ be gatekept, Hunting Horn isn't one of them; if all you want is your Attack Up Large, then go for it! _We all get the buffs, too, you know! Just like it's ever been!_
i can very well imagine 4 players with completely different hunting horns buffing the whole team with all kinds of XL buffs, and then hunting horn gets some sort of combo that resets the timer on all song effects where only one player has to keep their horn out

I don't understand this concern at all. Once the game comes out no one is gonna want to jump on Seikret play notes perform swap back to their main then fight for a min before having to jump back on Seikret and repeat. The 20% from an XL atk up is not gonna be worth the down time from constantly needing to swap weapons. The only instance I can see this being busted is in a coordinated 4-man hunt with 5 horns, 3 hunters with 3 different secondary horns and the main HH user with 2 horns keeping all the buffs up with extend melody effect. other then this I don't see it being a problem
Hey hunting horn friends who may be concerned about pocket horns. just to let ya'll know, your weapon is super complex and they come with different sets of notes and buffs. I already don't want to learn one of your weapons let alone two, so you could bring 2 sets of buffs and not worry about pocket horns. why? beacuse that's too much brain power and not enough explosions. -Sincerley a Switch-Axe one trick
Now, Im well aware this os a highly divisive topic as is, but I'd like to take a step back and say that, personally, Im not even entirely sold on the idea of carrying two weapons, be in what combination they may. I always liked the fact that in most games, for better or worse, for that hunt, at least, you are committing to your one weapon. I take GS with me almost always, and I can understand the concerns of HH users, even though I don't see Capcom retracing this.
Pocket horn would only be something you'd use if you have no HH User in the Hunt, if you got one and you know it take a different weapon gg done. If the outrage is to much they could just change it so that when you swap from HH to a different weapon the potentcy of the buffs get reduces. Like you Buff Attack L, you swap it gets reduces to M or the duration gets shorted to make HH swaping not OP.
To an extent, I think this is a good thing. Let's say that pocket horn is a thing, or will be a thing. Only a handful of weapons CAN be a viable pocket weapon. 1. Ranged weapons 2. HH 3. GS And if you think about it, a %age of players will ONLY play with their main weapon and won't bother with weapon swap mechanics, now that pocketing certain weapons pose a benefit, they might consider using the weapon swap mechanic with HH, or GS, or ranged weapons -- and this will be their barrier to entry on maining/trying these weapons as a whole.
It's also done so you don't have to visit tent\camp each time you need to swap a weapon. You can bring two of the same weapon, just different elements, for example -- which solves arguably the most annoying part of multi-monster hunts, where one can be vulnerable to fire, but the other one would be resistant to it. And since you're encouraged to just roam around the whole seamless world and hunt non-stop, it's a boon here, not a "player replacement". And HH is also SO much more than just its buffs. Echo bubbles and waves, exhaustion, knockouts, hardened part breaks - it's silly to be worried about the threat of "pocket HH". And let's be honest, re-applying buffs in the heat of a battle would be a major hassle, so you'd never get the same uptime as when it's used as a primary by another player.
@@Mistalleks Yup, even IF pocketing a weapon would be "META" I wouldn't worry too much about it, it just gives players the incentive to use those weapons, not as pocket, but the weapon itself. I don't get why gatekeep these things, if LS and Lance will be a viable pocket weapon, I'd be glad someone will use them as a pocket.
@Mistalleks And even better is that according to the help page in the demo, HH will get Echo wave "Slicing". Together with hilt stab it might even be viable to cut tails.
@@Mistalleks In mhw you don't need to swap weapon to be able to use different elements or afflictions. For example, they are a few ligh bwg who use differents elemental ammo :)
Pocket horn will never replace a dedicated one. That said, I welcome the people who will attempt pocket horn, because that means more people will actually try the wonderful weapon that is the horn. That said, even if pocket horn is as useful as the meta fueled romanticize it to be, I just look forward to pocket horning my main hunting horn. =P
I have my doubts that this will become the meta. It's possible that in doing so would prolong the fight as you would be missing out on damage once the buffs wear off in three minutes and you have to break away and reapply them. Maybe during travel time, you could switch to the weapon and apply the buffs? Capcom could reduce the buff time to compensate for how quick the songs come out now and encourage people to leave those damage fields that react to songs when they're played. I played with the HH in MHW and it just felt slow for me personally. So the idea that the coming meta is to switch to it just to apply buffs to yourself then switch back would make the hunt faster, is something I don't buy. In a group it would be more viable to have at least one person carry that as a secondary weapon to apply buffs to everyone but even then you're missing out on a whole other person for DPS for however long it takes to apply the buffs and switch back. you could switch to the weapon and apply the buffs? Capcom could reduce the buff time to compensate for how quick the songs come out now and encourage people to leave those damage fields that react to songs when they're played and discourage the pocket horn strategy.
It probably won't be Meta in the "peak efficiency" sense, just the popular Meta (sort of like how Longsword is really popular every game regardless of where it actually slots into speedrun charts). The real Meta pick is more likely to be pocket status LGB since you seem to be also to shoot while mounted.
Haha 😂 I love this. The pocket horn fear is so absurd. No one is going to run pocket horn who doesn’t already play HH. People don’t understand the tediousness of what they are proposing. Swapping just to buff isn’t some instant ability. It’s a time sink people are not going to engage with 99% of the time
HH is the best exhaust weapon in the game and nothing can replace that, also I see the majority of people getting sick very fast of having to take out another weapon every three minutes just to have a temporal buff most people are not even gonna properly use. Like yeah, speedrunners are probably gonna get a lot of use of a fight worth of temporal Earplugs but your regular player is gonna be evading or getting hit half of that time, permanent armor skills > short temporal buffs. This people are making a lot of noise about of nothing, really. Also we have the new stackable kill zones where the HH shockwaves repeat dealing thrice the damage, and that pretty much requires you to play the weapon. The new horns are gonna be so sick.
"HH is the best exhaust weapon in the game and nothing can replace that" welp for now game mechanics alone replaced that twice already xd. in iceborne u perma enrage monsters so they are never tired and in sunbreak they are constantly tired when u will do your red ball poping minigame right. i hope wilds will finally leave exhaust alone and let it be used by blunt damage dealers
@@Zamoxino ``in iceborne u perma enrage monsters´´ On fights like IB Alatreon? Sure. For the rest of the game I just don't run Agitator since I find myself knocking monsters out of rage mode very fast and that let's me run actual usefull stuff like Quick Sheath or extra levels of Evade Window. Not everyone runs garbage meta builds that go full damage without utility. There's a BIIIG misconception on how people play the game since what you see online on places like Reddit is what a very small fraction of the people play. Exhaust is great in IB and Stamina Thief is super strong.
@@hotohoriytasuki im mostly multiplayer enjoyer and chance for someone else not slamming monster into a wall or insta enraging it is like 5-10%. also its not just about agitator meta, enraged monster just take more damage without any investment. half of the monsters also dont rly change their moveset that much when enraged so downside is rather small for using this tech. i agree that getting more uptime with comfy skill is most of the time more worth but HH in icebrone is just in that dumb situation where when u play solo u lose 40% of your dps cause att XL is not affecting 3 more ppl and your weapon is balanced around that fact, and when u play in multi u wont rly get a chance to use your stamia thief cause meta works how it works and ppl will insta enrage the monster most of the time. HH just cant win :P
This is going to sound harsh but I just have to be real with you. gmerc sounds very insecure, it's like as if no one else is allowed to use a HH in a hunt besides himself and I think he's quite pathetic for saying that, he should be ashamed of himself. Let other people play how they want, what weapons people want to use and how is none of his business. On top of that someone else playing buffs invalidating his ENTIRE existence merely by playing buffs implies that he's not actually participating in the hunt and damaging/fighting the monster himself and if he is indeed a cursed corner horner, I will kick him out of any hunt I catch him doing it in as long as I am the host.

I think I prefer a status bow as my secondary
They really upped the realistic element of the game eh? Just like me irl
Haha 😂 I love this. The pocket horn fear is so absurd. No one is going to run pocket horn who doesn’t already play HH. People don’t understand the tediousness of what they are proposing. Swapping just to buff isn’t some instant ability. It’s a time sink people are not going to engage with 99% of the time
Or what monsters may potentially counter said actions…
Imagine you coming to swap weapons, only for Arkvels to just tether you to him
HH is the best exhaust weapon in the game and nothing can replace that, also I see the majority of people getting sick very fast of having to take out another weapon every three minutes just to have a temporal buff most people are not even gonna properly use.
"HH is the best exhaust weapon in the game and nothing can replace that"
welp for now game mechanics alone replaced that twice already xd. in iceborne u perma enrage monsters so they are never tired and in sunbreak they are constantly tired when u will do your red ball poping minigame right.
i hope wilds will finally leave exhaust alone and let it be used by blunt damage dealers
@@Zamoxino ``in iceborne u perma enrage monsters´´
On fights like IB Alatreon?
I gotta good laugh outta this
thats why i play all weapon n yeah we all replaceable
LUL "is it all or some?" pardon my language, but we are the same sort of ass xD
This has become a Monster Hunter drama channel and it’s boring.
