those angry chests are called mimics and that creepy music you heard means there is a mob nearby with a backpack and a music upgrade in it and is playing a music disc
This is also the way I've also wanted to play Minecraft. I don't like OP farm mods that have you sit in one place and beat the game without leaving the spawn chunks. Ideally, if there are automation mods at all they would allow you to get a few things waiting for you back home while you're out playing the actual game. Exploring is just the most fun way to play! P.S. I am interested in this modpack
Love your base camp. It looks great! 👍I like the combination of stripped spruce and normal oak logs the most. But it might not be easy to always have both types of wood on hand. And I love the Kitty Slippers and hope no cats were harmed in making them. 🤣 But it's really funny when the creepers run away from you because of the slippers. 😆

I had the same thing in my Chosens Modded Adventure I'm streaming. NO clue what mod adds that. But it confused the tar outta me!!
I’m sure you figured it out already when the mimic dropped the artifact but the chest mobs are called mimics and they are in the artifacts mod. Also the music you were hearing is because of the sophisticated backpacks mod. Mobs will spawn with them. Usually those mobs will have a speed potion effect so if you see a mob with the backpack be careful as it will charge very quickly at you. I had a creeper do that one time and it was terrifying. (Didn’t have those kitty shoes) also, getting the night vision goggles in a chest like that was insanely lucky. I’m not sure what the loot tables are for the artifact mod but I spent a long long time trying to find the goggles in my world. I killed over 60 of the mimics before I finally found it. Overall I really liked the laidback pace of this first episode and vibe with the premise of this new series. One of the most entertaining parts of Minecraft is the exploration. Though it is still nice to have base camps. I think it’d be fun to do small little base camps in each biome or at least in some of the rarer ones. Also don’t forget to upgrade your backpack. You definitely have the iron and diamonds to do it, you just have to follow the progression with copper and gold as well. Upgrading your backpack will give you more storage. There are also upgrades for a built in crafting table in your backpack. Although that can sometimes get annoying when you try to store stuff in the backpack as it’ll store in the crafting table. Although maybe you could just count it as an extra 9 slots of inventory. Last thing, not sure if you’re open to adding more mods, but there is a mod called charm of undying that lets you put your totems of undying into a charm slot in your inventory. This can free up space for your shield again but also still function the same as it if were in your offhand. I find it’s a nice quality of life mod.
I really enjoyed watching this video. The only thing i would like to "complain about" (for lack of a better word - sorry, english is not my first language, please don't misunderstand this) is the fact that cout base is so open (it has no door or something). If you wanna keep it open, then maybe it would be an idea to "block" the entrance with carpets (in the gate (the whole width), dig down 3-4 blocks and fill it up with carpets (maybe brown/green so it kinda blends in with the grass/path blocks). mobs will think they can't walk over it, but you still can walk over the carpet). (though i'm not sure if it works the same in modded minecraft, maybe it only does in vanilla...) You don't have to do that of course, but it could prevent mobs from sneaking up on you when you're just in your storage, organizing stuff for example. Other than that, as i said, i really enjoyed this video and i'd like to watch more of this type of content. also please don't worry too much, even some of the biggest minecraft youtubers sometimes forget to press record. 😉🤭

Apart from the 3rd person perspective and the screen splatters, I like this combo of mods you have going. Honestly I probably would've loved the 3rd person mod if I had seen this back when I first started playing minecraft since I absolutely hated 1st person games at the time, but now that I've been playing 1st in minecraft for a few years, I can't imagine playing it any other way. Curious what mods you are using?

Why do you not have dynamic lighting? You'd be able to see in the caves just by putting a torch in your off hand. 🤨 Never mind... those night vision goggles just solved that problem.

Pretty sure it's the sophisticated backpack mod that adds that. If you kill the mob wearing it, you get the backpack with the jukebox

I’m sure you figured it out already when the mimic dropped the artifact but the chest mobs are called mimics and they are in the artifacts mod.
