yea i work a lot at night and i love having the backlit keyboard. I still think the mBP is the nicest one that ive used, i also got a lenovo that i like with a backlit keyboard but its not nearly as bright however I do like the Thinkpads a little more than the mbp keyboard as far as keys go

For anyone wondering.... On most hp laptops, pavilion included, enter the system BIOS at startup and navigate to hardware, keyboard backlight, and change the settings for backlight timeout as you wish. You may want to enter "safe startup" before trying this if you aren't sure of your BIOS navigating skills. 👍💜 you have to do this because that is the only way on hp laptops to change backlight timeout settings, it cannot be done through windows 10, only through the BIOS.

Finally! An EASY solution for my Dell! Bios startup didn’t have the setting, and this worked for me. Hard to see my keyboard late at night when it was set to only 1 minute turn off. THANK YOU!

maybe you need to first press a typ of "fn" button for it to work. if this doesn´t help then specifically search for a term like "toggling keyboard lights on ´insert notebook´"
