    I have been using my XMG Fusion 15 for half a year now, I bought it based on this review among others. It's an excellent laptop. The battery life is a bit shorter than expected and I have used better trackpads. But the screen is vibrant and fast (this is my first computer screen with anything more than 60%), I absolutely love to type on the mechanical keyboard, and the performance is what you would expect from this hardver. The best thing, however, is thermal performance. XMG probably uses different power limits than Aftershock, becuase I get playable FPS in Silent mode as well (the lowest setting), only about 15-20% less than in Balanced. That means 100+ FPS in Doom Eternal, for instance, at 39-40 decibels! And if I ever need more juice, I put on Balanced, which is still quiet for a gaming laptop (44-45 decibels).

I can imagine it is useful for people, who want to game in train or at school, but all I need is to move to different town and game there. So I want 17 inch. Am I unfair to 15 inches? is that a AhVA screen with 801:1 contrast?
    That seems low...
    Also, I seem to notice (even in the video) some ghosting (0:34-0:36).
    While the rest looks very good, that screen seems to be VERY bad. I hope they get a TN high refresh rate or an OLED high refresh rate screen later on, since it would make this unit almost ideal.
    I will wait for OLED high refresh screens for laptops anyway myself, but this an insanely good step in the right direction.

    Great Review Jarrod. I know you've answered similar questions in regards to the difference between this and the Aero 15 OLED, and I'm trying to decide between the two. My main concern is fan noise. While I understand in performance mode this machine can be quite loud, which one of the two machines is the quieter version.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The results are all in the videos, so all I can really do is go back and listen to the fan noise like you would 😛 after checking the results, at max the Aero was a little louder, but that's assuming you stick the fan at max speed, with the Aero for instance if you have a custom fan curve it won't necessarily hit that, whereas there is very minimal fan control with this one.

    • @blueboots

    Aftershock Support--Drivers page is empty, stuck in Limbo of "upgrading". I checked in March and on 31st Oct - did it ever existed? While one can write to support to request the drivers, this is raising a question of Aftershock commitment to their products. Eluktronics on the other hand provides all drivers (including BIOS and Control Center), thus personally I would much rather buy from Eluktronics and give Aftershock a miss.
    Great and detailed review, thank you!

    Jarrod. I underatand that you are very busy. Could you please compare this to the acer triton 500 as the acer triton 500 has decent battery life and adequate cooling. I will be purchasing my first gaming laptop next week and will require a portable, powerful laptop that is reliable from a company that has great service. I live in new zealand so service here isnt great at the best of times due to the low population. I was considering razer blade 15 but from what information i have got from reddit and the internet razer laptops are like jaguar cars. They are "cool" but unreliable with inadequate support. I will not get the gs65 either due too poor thermals and poor build with many customers getting their product with a bent panel. I need something that doesnt scream gamer and something that will blend in a bit as i will be using it for school. Can you tell me about the customer service (if you know) for aftershock and acer amd provide any further information that can help. I understand if you do not make a video. If Acer send me one with the same specs I could look at doing it, unfortunately I'm not in a position to request this from them as I already have 8 other laptops I need to prioritize at the moment. Just based on what I know about both, I'd probably pick this one. The motherboard isn't upside down, larger battery, mech keyboard, and SD card slot.

One great point as it seems so many laptops are taking this out having an "mic jack" AND "headphone jack." Using audio sometimes there are mixers that have software and you can use USB-A, but there are times one needs to use the "mic jack" when wanting to record audio. For this reason this is a great interest of mine. Don't really do any gaming but Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Music Editing (Presonus Studio One) and also dj'ing (Traktor, Rekordbox, VDJ) are the main things I would be using. Maybe, not sure that one is sold through the AU store though unless I am blind.

      I hope it is :) they're advertising it as a budget blade stealth

      Oh I think that might be the same as the eluktronics mag-15u? Which is the same as the leader machine I reviewed a few months back

    Hey Jarrod was there any latencymon analysis done on this machine?

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I always put it after the speaker discussion, it's at 4:58. I have screenshots of all the other tabs, if you want them you can email me and I'll send them over.

    Jarred are you planning to review the Aftershock Terra 15?

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at the moment, I haven't had time to reach out and request it, but they also haven't contacted me asking if I want to check it out. If they ask me first I'll definitely accept, but yeah bit much on my plate at the moment to dive into going out of my way and asking for more machines.

      Thanks for the quick reply, no worries, only reason it's interesting is it's using a "full" 2070, otherwise just another 15.6" laptop.

      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it does look really interesting I will definitely follow up with them when I get a moment. What's taking up my time at the moment is the new eluktronics Max 15 and 17, they sent them all the way over from the US to Australia and I need to get through those first

      Nice. I lost interest in it after finding out it's basically an Aorus 15 (same barebones manufacturer Quanta).

      It's a little louder compared to most laptops, but feels nice.
