I did the exact same as the fellow below with a gaggia basket, but using a wire frame a wire brush @ 0.5m Came out very even at 9% open area, with extremely small StDev. Great tool! It would be nice if there was a database page where we could upload and compare the various baskets.
Thank you so much for the app and this video. So for measuring the "width" where exactly does one have to measure? Inside the opening lip of the basket or near to the bottom of the basket which is tapered down?
Wanted to bore the holes of my stock gaggia basket because they had tonnes of burrs from the factory grinding process. This data was super helpful! Used a 0.3mm needle and some polishing compound to even out the holes.
