These common mistakes create sloppy heel work and will lower your heel score. #baebeasdogtraining #dogtraining #competitionobedience www.baebeasdogtraining.com
Thanks for the tips! I'm struggling with getting my dogs' attention while practicing heeling outside. I even use a toy, which he seems to be more excited about rather than food. I'll try to work on this! We're going to try novice in a month so I hope we're ready!
Don’t lure with the food or toy. Instead, reward. I train heel with shape training. Here is a link to a video of training heel to a dog with no training experience. th-cam.com/video/L6gQLiHdX7Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9bQjRCKU5eACY5xq
Any tips on how to treat small dogs? They are pulled out of position if I bend over. Or they turn to an angle in order to look up at me. I just haven’t been able to get the mechanics right yet
Normally, I toss a treat for my dog to get. I give a marker word and release them to get the treat. Then they have to run back. I rarely hand my dog the treat while heeling. I only included that in this video because so many people do hand the dog the treat that I wanted to make sure they did it correctly.
Yeah but To walk my dog with him pushing into me , me having to walk with a stiff arm to pull him back so I don’t trip over him isn’t really ideal either..
Love this. Thank you for sharing!🐾💕👌🏻

Watch my video on how to train heel so you don’t have to pull him back.
Maybe you want a loose leash walk vs a heel.
