Thanks for the info on rear shocks! I am getting ready to replace mine on my 97 CV. I have seen videos where the guy cut away the upper sleeve on rear shock and grabbed the strut with vice grips. My ? is how would you grab the strut and not gouge it? Doing it your way seems much easier, does the strut spin when I tighten it in rear? Again ...THANKS!
Yes. You'll need to source aftermarket shocks that have a way to hold them still while you tighten the nut. New shocks will not have corroded shafts or bolts so you may get away with just holding it with your hand as you tighten the nut. It shouldn't be too hard to tighten compared to the old units.
Them new tires look nice, great thread design, I would of mounted them tires self, their actually not that hard, then all you need to do is install them on your car and take to a tire shop and have them balanced, and your ready to go 👍
Just so everyone knows, if you want to do this job, do not want to drill holes, do want want to spend an hour loosening rusted nuts, and have an extra $50 to spend, look at the snap-on RTB-18. It makes short work of this job.
I looked up that tool and my initial impression is that it could have made this job allot easier. If I have to do this job again, I'll likely purchase one.
Hey shadowrider I watch your crown vic videos alot theyre very helpful especially the window motor plugs but I have a problem I was at the junkyard with no battery and a locked trunk on a 97 vic do they have a emergency release inside to release the trunk when no power is available?
There's a release for the fuel door, but not the trunk. At least not for the 1995 model. You'll have to grab an old battery from around there and use the power trunk release to get it open without damaging anything.
Quick tip use the wrench to hold the nut and twist the tip of the shock with the vicegrips much faster than repositioning every time
Nice job! Gotta love tire rack plus mom & pop type shops. Really save a ton of money on tires that way.
Very true. I think I easily saved about $200.
I have to say that car looks good with black walls because those are kind of sporty rims looking good
Those are the OEM wheels that came with the car and for OEM, they are very tasteful.

How can you be a mechanic and not have a set of GearWrenches? Buy a set, now!
Brother with as much wrenching as you do, get a set of ratcheting wrenches, Gearwrench or on the cheap, Harbor Freight.
On a grand marquis 1986 are same?

Why in the world would you use used shocks?
Why would you put used shocks on there smh
Get yourself a set of crowfoot wrenches. Much faster.
suspension work is my least favorite.
It's not my favorite either but there is one job that I consider worse: exhaust. I can't stand working on old, rusty exhaust systems.
Once you jack the car up all you have to do is remove 3 🔩... Easy!!
Please don't talk too much!!!
Bro you talk to mucho
