Difference between lords/vassals and corpos is that the laws of chivalry still played, and families were VERY important being a kinslayer or betrayer was deplorable.

we already know regardless of lifepath V ends up as a Merc, and you cant join the corp's or gang's (but you can get them to like you and offer corp/gang stuff). the 4th corporate war was between arisaka and militech (it ended when militech detonated a nuke on the 120th floor of the arasaka building) jhonny silverhand probably wont like a corpo at the start if you choose corpo what with arisaka kidnapping his gf and forcing her to create/recreate the soulkiller virus, and employing adam smasher who may or may not have killed jhonny's body (things get a bit vague what with a nuke going off around that time).
I'm definitely going for this lifepath. The ambiance looks so oppressive and dark, I kinda want to go for a "destroying the monster from the inside out" kind of badass V.
I'm going with nomad first, then corpo, then street kid. My own self as nomad, then my 2020 corpo character, then a street kid that i'll run for Cyberpunk Red

Not sure if this show aired in Europe, but there was a spy drama/comedy show called Burn Notice in the late 00s, whose narrative reminds me much of the Corpo life path. It's about a counter-intel spy who gets burned (wiped job history, no credit, loss of contacts), and takes odd jobs around a city with his friends to generate cash- so he can continue his investigation into why he was burned. Each episode even operates like a fun sidequest in an RPG, and each season of the show forwards the main plot. It might be worth watching to generate story ideas for your Corpo characters, plus its just a fun show. Thanks for the continued content and great videos, your dedication is appreciated.
listening to Mike Pondsmith talk about the world, he says things like "I'd be a bad Jedi because I don't see things as clearly good and evil" and "you aren't out to save the world, you can maybe save yourself" so assuming some of that was picked up by CDPR, there will probably be plenty of grey within Night City's neon glow.
Think you’d have alittle more trust in the Nomad and Street levels. In Copo can’t trust anyone, just a feeling. Nomads need each other to survive in badlands. Where in copo, you can have a lot more independency with money, street kid will probably have a similar level as the nomads but alittle more cut throat. Iduno maaaa
Yeah, as a Corpo, I'll try to be as pacifist as possible, but I'll kill only as necessary. If I played as Street, I would kill anyone who shoots at me without hesitation. If I played Nomad, *everyone* is getting a bullet.

Definitely going to do this one first. As a person, I identify with Nomad V way stronger, but it seems like Corpo background can definitely benefit the story. There is just something about the personal stakes that V could have when going after Arasaka, not only that, but how his/her relationships with Johny Silverhand can play out. I also hope that the game will allow me to go full paranoiac about every single thing and person while role playing as an ex counter-intelligence corp
You guys NEED to check out Akudama Drive its a new Cyberpunk anime that just came out only 1 episode so far but it was amazing, its like 2077 but in Japan has similar over the top style

Eli King Are you asking because of the old D&D alignments? I’ll never tell. Not a big table top guy but I always love those descriptions. Most rpg video games are either black or white and don’t give the best rewards for being nuanced.
Maya BShell It does seem that in this type of world it will be hard to be that good. Some missions may put you in a predicament to choose the less of two evils. Although they said you can fail missions. Maybe you can fail the mission to uphold your character’s honor. And you can trick your character out with non lethal alternatives. That would be an interesting play through and challenging.
After the 1.5 Patch I finally bought it for my Series X. Love the world they created, everything running great. Waiting a year to play it was worth the wait.

A good way to look onto the power dynamic of a free-lance mercenary and what it means to topple the king-on-top is to look at Far Cry 2. As an expat mercenary in a destabilized country you find work among opposing factions, taking each job no matter the side and helping the few mercenary friends you have do the same. Always having a target on your back. The factions choose you to fight the other side because in the cease-fire you have plausible deniability. As each mission passes the objective becomes more and more damaging to the other side, and the country as a whole. Local leaders giving the contracts will command the player to destroy crops, burn fuel depots, and destroy medicine on the smallest of whims to stay in control and continue the war. Then one local leader will tell you to assassinate the other. Once you do so they'll send a kill-team to ambush you. All in an effort to get what they want with no loose ends. Once you became a big enough problem both sides will "join forces" to come after you and all your other mercenaries, pinning the war on everyone except themselves. It is as cutthroat as it comes. Yesterday's lieutenant is now the new local leader, and he will tell you to assassinate the opposing local leader that you just put in power. The cycle continues all over again. When both sides join forces or start a cease-fire they'll do it just to make it look like peace-talks to turn the eyes of the world away before they continue the fighting. Any grunt you kill will be replaced, any leader you topple will have the next in line ready for their turn to commit a war crime, any friends you make of the mercenary bunch just like you may leave you for dead or turn on you once the odds stack in their favor. Ultimately everyone's looting and burning the country down not to get their share, but to get the lions share. Even if V eliminates the lowest of scabs to the highest gang leader, even Arisaka himself it will only create a vacuum for the worse and put a bigger target on V's back. In a city where everyone is arming themselves to the teeth, wearing the flashiest attire, killing or scheming their way to the top; the only way move is up or fall off the cliff entirely. I wonder, what could V possibly do short of another Arasaka nuke that would change anything? If even for 50 years before it starts all over again?
Jhonny won't trust you. he has a bit of a grudge against arisaka what with the whole thing around arisaka, his girlfriend, and the soulkiller (net virus)

Don't forget that corporate V is left for dead and completely stripped by Arasaka, so chances are corpo V will want to take them down just as much as Johnny, even if they won't like each other. I have a feeling Johnny won't like anybody from the start anyway.
Is it just me or does Cyberpunks depth with choices altering the story remind me a lot of telltale games main draw. To be honest a choice system like telltales thrown into an open-world game is one of the main draws for me.
I LIVE for dystopia. Corpos epitomize this kind of world, which is why I'm going Corpo first. I hope I can get a stringent apartment overlooking the dark, neon-lit city.
The Corpo lifestyle definitely has more of a Blade Runner vibe imo, not to say that the other two paths are any less appealing; I'm sensing like a Mad Max for the Nomad. Whilst each path will eventually end up on the same narrative line, It's going to be very interesting to see how different the motivations are for V based on his/hers background preference.

If one thing dystopian futures has taught me is that corporations and people no matter how powerful they get should always be held accountable for their actions, to the people.
We all hat games where we start in the hood (street kid life path) and games where you start as the outsider (nomad life path) but the corpo life path seems like the most unique choice to me...

Corpo life path is The most interesting path! Unlike nomad and street kid who i think just caught in the middle of corpo vs gangs bs .. Corpo V , is vengeance life path , with the help of Nomad and Street gangs .. i hope the story is like this ..
As a corpo, I feel like I'll be like judge dredd, adam jensen and christain bale in equilibrium. A hired merc guard to take out the top people at big corporations

I created a character in Cyberpunk 2020. My character is a doctor (not a ripperdoc, a genuine doctor) who lost everything because he treated a little girl whose family is from the slums over a extremely wealthy client.
Even tho im more likely to pick the street life path, but at the same time i wanna pick the Corporate path on some Mob/Mafia type shit. Organized crime, Fraud at times, association, hit men, undermining and coming up with schemes etc. Bc i kno the street life like the back of my hand, i wanna get a different feel.
Your analogy with kings obeying no laws can work only in your vision of medieval times. The way it was perceived at least in theory in those times was that there are two things above the king. The God and the crown. You see the crown was not a symbol of power. The crow was above the king, it was the symbol of him serving the land and peopole he's ruling and protecting. after a year gone by, due to how you explained things and expectations, they really didn't fulfill a lot, it almost feels like the game should have been 3 different storylines except we all take the same story, a handful of different endings, and side quests that are hit or miss for some
I wonder if trading stonks in the stockmarket will be available to all lifepaths 🤔 in GTA 5 that was a main way of making money in the endgame, after all the big heists were done: you'd have a tip about how some side missions will change the stonks so you can do some extra savvy investing, and if you wait until later in the game it really multiplies well. another area of the game which shouod be fun to mod!
Neo-Feudalism meets Laissez-Faire Capitalism is one heck of a combination of dystopian systems. Also regarding some of the story trailer stuff it might aswell be that corpos are very homogeneous. Doesn't contradict any of your ideas though.
Think Imma do the first play through as the nomad that goes to the city then RP the 2nd play through as the nomads street kid, then the last playthrough as the street kids now much richer corpo kid.
For my game im going to be a "good" corpo. One of the outliers. it would be cool to to know how many people hate corpos and im just there fuckin with them.

Now, the game finally released, and none of this matters. The Corpo life path is completely gone from the game after the intro. So sad.

Don't forget that corporate V is left for dead and completely stripped by Arasaka, so chances are corpo V will want to take them down just as much as Johnny, even if they won't like each other. Is it just me or does Cyberpunks depth with choices altering the story remind me a lot of telltale games main draw.
To be honest a choice system like telltales thrown into an open-world game is one of the main draws for me.

I LIVE for dystopia. Corpos epitomize this kind of world, which is why I'm going Corpo first. I hope I can get a stringent apartment overlooking the dark, neon-lit city.

The Corpo lifestyle definitely has more of a Blade Runner vibe imo, not to say that the other two paths are any less appealing; I'm sensing like a Mad Max for the Nomad.
Whilst each path will eventually end up on the same narrative line, It's going to be very interesting to see how different the motivations are for V based on his/hers background preference.
cant believe its so close to release. Been waiting on and off since its announcement. It looks to be like a game thats going to raise the standards big time and studios are probably not happy about that lol.

I think a Corpo stealth assassin build will be my second playthrough.
We all hat games where we start in the hood (street kid life path) and games where you start as the outsider (nomad life path) but the corpo life path seems like the most unique choice to me...

Corpo life path is The most interesting path! Unlike nomad and street kid who i think just caught in the middle of corpo vs gangs bs .. Corpo V , is vengeance life path , with the help of Nomad and Street gangs .. i hope the story is like this ..

I created a character in Cyberpunk 2020.
My character is a doctor (not a ripperdoc, a genuine doctor) who lost everything because he treated a little girl whose family is from the slums over a extremely wealthy client.
Even tho im more likely to pick the street life path, but at the same time i wanna pick the Corporate path on some Mob/Mafia type shit. after a year gone by, due to how you explained things and expectations, they really didn't fulfill a lot, it almost feels like the game should have been 3 different storylines except we all take the same story, a handful of different endings, and side quests that are hit or miss for some
Even before i see this video i decided to make corp my first path, mainly because eveyones going streetkid and nomad first
I wonder if trading stonks in the stockmarket will be available to all lifepaths 🤔 in GTA 5 that was a main way of making money in the endgame, after all the big heists were done: you'd have a tip about how some side missions will change the stonks so you can do some extra savvy investing, and if you wait until later in the game it really multiplies well. another area of the game which shouod be fun to mod!
Im going for this one and then hopefully can accumulate street knowledge and connections before going back to the corpo top.

Also regarding some of the story trailer stuff it might aswell be that corpos are very homogeneous. Doesn't contradict any of your ideas though.
