    I really like being able to bring a more modern look to the age of tradition of granny squares

    Looking at this option I thought of placemats! I’ve done a number of your blankets and now I always turn…like you I don’t really need to but I like the visual texture of seeing how the stitch looks on both sides with the extra bonus of it being reversible….but I will make it rectangle. I keep going back to your channel, working my way though your videos, while I am crocheting. Your voice is so nice to listen to and I’ve picked up a lots of tips and ,like this one, it’s given me an idea for another project for Christmas gifts. Thank you so very much. Bye 💁🏼‍♀️

    This Canadian gal just starting making this beauty in a cherry red color & white for contrast & it's so gorgeous. I'm going to make this about 42x42" & make it into a lovey. I like this stitch so much better than the regular granny as there are very minimal holes. Since I'm not good at making animals I'll attach a small stuffed one to the center like I have in the past & it will be lovely. I think I'll attach a white monkey with floppy arms & legs as I have a few on hand for special items. Thanks again for another great tutorial. Stay healthy & safe darlin

    Lovely alternative granny square pattern. Will be doing this when the wool arrives to make a throw for my sofa to protect it from the sun. I found that it worked better with a chain 1 in the corners and it made it squarer than a chain 2 in the corners.

    • @suedudley8123
      @suedudley8123 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm having a similar problem, my square has a "waist", it measures narrower across the middle than the outer edges -- I may try your chain 1 in the corners instead. Thank you!

    I love this solid granny square it’s not only a lovely pattern but I love how there’s not so many holes as the traditional granny ..
    I want to use your joining method ( the one with the pink granny square and grey border ) do you think it should be ok ..

      Thank you ,, I am about to finish one square, I used cream and a mauve/pink yarn and it looks lovely..
      The yarn I used is just a bit rough ( not to soft ), maybe steam blocking might fix that, but today I’ve purchased a much softer yarn which is a 10 ply and crotchets up beautifully and it’s squishy soft ..
      Thankyou again Rebekah
      My daughters name is Rebecca/( Becky sometimes 😊) too ( different spelling ,, I love that name too ❤

  • @jodyfarias3284
    @jodyfarias3284 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, I just posted a similar question. I also am having the same problem with getting it to lay flat. I thought it might be my tension so I started again and I had the same issues. I wanted to make it into a blanket for a friend and I loved the way the stitch was looking, but I don’t love the fact that it doesn’t lay flat! 🤦🏻‍♀️

    How do you crochet so that your granny squares don’t twist if you don’t turn on every round (as you mentioned in the video)?

  • @dawnamendola8690
    @dawnamendola8690 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have seen this question asked several times with no response ...I can't get it to lay flat . I'm 12 rows in and I've tried several things to try and get it to lay flat ... I went UP a hook size, I'm making sure that my spike stitch is pulled up high enough to avoid pulling , I even tried adding a chain in between the clusters and nothing has helped . Obviously it must be the nature of the stitch since so many people are having the same issue , it's annoying that it doesn't lay flat but it looks so beautiful I do not want to rip it out or stop , I'm hoping when I add a boarder it may help it . Can you please comment on this issue .
