Brought to you by The InStitches Team! :)
I really enjoyed making this square. It is quite different & unique. Jayda, you are a great teacher:) Appreciate all the tips & tricks you share during the process with your crochet projects. Happy Crocheting!!!
Hi Donna! Thank you so much 💗
Just to say again that I learned to crochet here and I’m glad you had such patience with us beginners. Thank you.
Me too. I am forever grateful
💗 Thank you!
Me too!
Beautiful squares! Love the blue and yellow one. Also, I love the sea horse pendant you are wearing. 💖🧶
Thank you! 😊
I love this "spiky" granny square pattern! I've got to get new yarns for myself.🩷 Thank you!
To the yarn shop!!
I really like thy spike stitch in this square! Jayda, you did a great job with your explanation of this square throughout the video...very thorough. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Love your tutorials! And this month's pattern too. A nice break for me from the more complicated ones. 😊And a big THANK YOU for the tip on straightening out the twisted spikes! It made the pattern look much more beautiful when I fixed the twisted ones. Sometimes I lack the common sense to do things like that!
You are so welcome!
Love this granny, Jayda!! I see all kinds of pretty projects/ this!!! Thanks... Blessings 🌷💞
Hi Val!

Hi Jayda and Mr In-stitches. Love the granny squares❤
Hi Dee!
Granny squares are my favorite. I love all of the ones you have done so far 🥰
I am so happy to hear that Becky 😊
I love this square! I am thinking of making some up in cotton yarn to use as hot pads. I have a black & white kitchen and use seasonal accent colors so the possibilities are endless. I struggled with the June square so I am very anxious to get started on this one. Thank you for the fantastic video!
Those will be awesome hotpads!
Beautiful granny square. I am finally caught up and working on this one now.
Fantastic! It's been a busy crochet year so far 😊
Playing catch up on my favorite channel ❤ this is a beautiful square.
Hi Rose 🥰 Thank you!
Thank you Jayda 🎉I learned to crochet with you
Hi Linda! Thank you!
Lovely granny square pattern, I’ve finally caught up with this years calendar blanket. As I have been spending all my time, working on my Garden wall art hanging workshop, I’m halfway through sewing my appliqués on. Thank you beautiful for all that you give to my crochet happiness 😊
Hi Kim! That's fantastic 😁
Totally 💯 remarkable 😸, thank you 🧶 for inspiring ❤
Thank you for watching 😊
Absolutely gorgeous thank you so much Jayda
Thank you Charlene 😊
Very interesting, Mrs InStitches. 😊
Cool & pretty stitch! I’m just seeing this today, got busy with the garden wall hanging lol. Glad you’re feeling better! I was sick too, haven’t had any cold nothing for years, guess it was time 😂. Have a good weekend ! 🙏🏻😻🧶
LOL, me too!
OMG. I love this Granny Square.
Thank you Diane 💗
I enjoyed this square. Thank you😊
Hi Maria, I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you 💗
Hi Jayda, such a pretty square. 🧶🫂
Thank you Dian!
This pattern has become my new favorite
Awesome! I am so excited to hear that!
Wow! Beautiful work!
Thank you so much 😀
Finally a square that looks differant
Love it! I will need to practice the spikes though as they throw my tension off a little. Dish cloth here I come 😂🧶💜
WOoohoo! Everyone gets a spiky dishcloth for Christmas 😂
@@JaydaInStitches I ended up just starting a dish cloth, it wasn’t any better so I just preserved with the squares. They’re done but I couldn’t get around having to adjust the tension on every spike. I think it’s because of how I hold my yarn. 🧶💜🙃
18:29 pretty squared. Goingng to grab my hook and yard. Here I go with July square ❤
Hi Cheryl!
Very pretty pattern.
😊
🌷🌷🌷rhank you 🙏
😊
I love spike stitches!!
Me too!
Love it
💗
I love this granny square ❤🎉
Thank you Kim!
Hi Jayda and Mr..sorry I missed the live..catching replay..have a great weekend!
Hi Debbie! No worries, this was our usual Friday style video, not a live 😊
Yay!! I've been realizing how little patience I have since this has been delayed. 😅 (So glad you're feeling better!❤)
* giggle * Thank you for your patience Nicolette 💗
A fun pattern!!!
Thank you Katherine 😊
Pretty square
Thank you Peggy 😊
I have to admit I am not a fan of the traditional granny square, but since none of these have been the traditional granny square I am enjoying them. I do especially like this spiked granny square. I have done it in a solid color because I am running out of my secondary color. I am now attempted to do it in black and white since I heard your last comment.
Awesome!! It's super sharp in bold, contrasting colours... wait until you see the photo round ups at the end of the month!!😁
Awe I love it .
Thank you Crocus! 😊
Another grand slam!
Thank you 😊
I'm doing these squares in red, white, & blue in honor of independence day here in the states.
That will look so beautiful
I made a queen-size blanket in this stitch. Really cool, but word of warning, it does become a yarn eater the larger you go lol.
It does! Especially if you're "generous" with the spikes 😁
Cool!
Thank you Karen 💗
What is the difference between a (USA) long double crochet vs a spiked stitch ?
Hi Robert, I must admit, I've never heard of a long double crochet, but a quick trip around google shows me that it's often also called an extended double crochet. Extended DC stitches are extended upwards by chaining in the middle of the stitch but are anchored along the row you're working on, NOT below it like a spike stitch. Spike stitches are anchored BELOW the current row. Extended stitches are simple made taller using chains 😊
@@JaydaInStitches Thanks for the clarification.
🎉😂
💗
I love the calendar blankets and I have done a few of yours. I started teaching crochet to a group of older ladies and I have to say, it's very hard to do. We're working on the classic Granny square and some of them are just not getting it! I don't know how else to teach them these simple steps of making corners. Some keep stitching in the DC's instead of the chain spaces and some just keep doing DC's without chains in between. Do you have any advice since you are such a great teacher,? Thanks!❤
Repetition 😁 They might find it helpful saying the instructions out loud to themselves... but past that, practice, practice, practice 😊 If you or they need a teaching aid, you can use our Beginner Granny Square tutorial on a phone/ipad or cast to the tv: th-cam.com/video/O_5nIpXg8OM/w-d-xo.html
I swear it takes me longer to choose which color pattern im going to make the sqaure than it takes for me to actually make the square
😂 Me too!!
Was this a live ? Didn’t Get a notification.
I didn't either and I usually do.
Hi! Nope, our Friday videos are videos, not live streams - and we typically don't make our Calendar Blanket projects live streams either... so no worries, you didn't miss anything 💗
How come my spikes end up twisted but yours don’t? 😢
Hi Mary, it could be the way you wrap your yarn or hold your hook. It could also be tension. Try not to pull too tightly when you pull up your loop. I wrap my yarn from behind, so if you wrap from the front that will change the direction of your loop.
@@JaydaInStitches Thank you Jayda - the more I do this granny square, the better I’m getting at it…..I even thought, doh! Jayda, not feeling well, probably telling her husband, “Enh, she’ll figure it out.” I was sorry I pestered you, but I appreciate your reply….and I’m LOVING the squares. I’ve made 6 for each month, so hope to end up with either a very large blanket, or maybe 2 decent sized ones 👍🙏🏼🥰
I need to know if I paid for it or not?
Hi Tammy! Thank you for mentioning it at the shop 💗
This makes 2 I will not be making
I am curious to know why you said that and which other one you chose not to do.
Me too. Curious what you didn't care for. This one was my favorite.
