    👍🏻that is some serious good welding dude !! i’m welding for about 30 years now, you have ticked all the boxes...
    purging, cleaning all with acetone, even the wire, etc.
    you’ve earned my respect !! 👍🏻

      @@dawsongamblin5246 it's perfectly fine are you joking me I've had a manifold that's probably on it's third owner now completely supporting the turbo and it's mint few years old and thousands of miles and hundreds of passes on it stop hating these hold up on tons of cars making big power with no issues and if ever there is he would take care of it he's a stand up guy

    good job Hayden! I feel that you are getting better and better every time I see a welding video, I love the fact that you are very meticulous with your deburring/polishing and the fact that you clean everything with acetone prior to weld. You are doing it the right way!

    I tend to reach as far my wrist and tourch will allow then start my weld moving slowly but staying in puddle and moving tourch handle slow down only to twist handle other direction. To allow tungsten to flow across tube. If you do this right, you can weld a tube 3/4 and match to one inch tack.
    Note: I start like you with spot tacks hit peddle at 90-120 amps
    I still run a one inch track on tight spot where tubes hard reach. Each tube would have different locations most of time. Remember to bend wire to allow first 5-10cm of reach.
    Practice makes better welder. Push yourself. Set a higher amperage and pulse to flow out weld and keep heat down. Not your heat signatures shows your hand pause. Don't pause or rest, keep going....

  • @bobhenderson7961
    @bobhenderson7961 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hayden cleaning the inside of the tube is just as important as cleaning the outside, can pull in contaminants from insides into the root resulting in eventual cracking

    Great video.
    There’s one thing I don’t understand. Why do you run your purge lines in on the top? Argon has a higher density than air. That means air stays on top of the argon when purging from the bottom with a vent on top of the part.

    That welding plate was a sweet idea - saves a bunch of messing around. Quick changing for the purging, just need to swap drilling, multiple drillings for different manifolds and thick enough to prevent distortion. Going to steal that concept for the next one I do - bit of time making it but once it's done it's ready for the next one.
    Ah, checked some of your other videos - cool as welding :-)

    Is there a specific reason for the extended stand off before the first turn on the tubes. Is it part of the tuning or is it a fit up/ clearance issue. I'm just curious. Really nice job.

  • @MYCHANNEL-on1cp
    @MYCHANNEL-on1cp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    nice welding, but as a welder, would like to see it in real time, mainly with the inbetween sections, where the tungsten is way out and feeding filler from the side
    is your gas set to 80 the whole time, or only when you have the tungsten "too" far out?
    thanks for sharing!

  • @markmitzlaff5187
    @markmitzlaff5187 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just our of curiosity why don't you just do full pen autogenous welds? Is it because of the fitup? Just asking because I've done alot of brewery and semiconductor systems in the past and that was usually the method we used.

  • @tigerseye73
    @tigerseye73 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice work. You're an excellent fabricator. Don't know if I would have bothered with this project though. I was always taught just get the exhaust gas to the turbo in the fastest and shortest path possible. You may actually be losing pressure wave energy with those beautiful snake pipes. Did enjoy your video.

    You took too long or too much amps to weld the joints, hence the colour

  • @rankena
    @rankena 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Doesn't it need an additional arm support from below? It's quite far from the engine and it holds a heavy turbo. Won't it brake within time due to vibrations of the engine and long "lever"?
