We first visited Goathland (aka Aidensfield) back in April 1994 when Heartbeat was in its fourth series when Kate Rowan was still in the show, IMO when Heartbeat was a far better series than what it became later on after Greengrass had left, after that it jumped the shark. We stopped off at the garage (Scripps) and my dad had a chat with the two chaps who ran the place (wasn't a tourist attraction then) wanting to know about the filming, then we went on to Greengrasses farm where my dad talked to the owner of the farm, and then onto Goathland station, back then you could park up down the road next to the station, unlike today. Most people who watch the repeats of Heartbeat now seem to have no recollection of the earlier series, especially when it comes to Scripps' Garage and Funeral Services; most viewers seem to think that that garage has always been named Scripps, but in fact it was previously named Mostyn's garage and Funeral Services after the character Malcolm Mostyn, whom vanished without trace after series 3 never to be seen again. The garage was still named Mostyn's up until mid series 11 from 2001 after Greengrass had left, kind of odd really considering Bernie Scripps had been in the show since series 5 after Kate had died.
Hello friends yes we are the same anytime we are down at York then we always take a trip to Goathland. Last time we took Yorkshire Moor steam train 🚂 to Goathland it’s sad they don’t make anymore episodes of Heartbeat now. Thanks again for your nice comment and take care coast to coast caravanning 😃
