This needs an RGB backlight that constantly cycles through colors for no reason. That would be the cherry on top

lol my gameboy pocket ips display did exactly that with what i can only guess was a cold solder joint or the initial blob was picking up interference. stopped after i re-touched the sensor wire with the iron
The shell should be also backlit by a dozen colorful leds for that authentic 00's modded console look and feel.
This looks like something that would have been a contest prize.

Got a Super Mario Maker 2DS to mod and have already gotten it all set up for my needs. Currently playing through my fav. Pokemon game (Soulsilver) and Tetris!

That actually looks really pretty withthe gold glitter, silver glitter and neon buttons. Just replace the brown start/select buttons with some blue ones, and a neon yellow power switch.
This is like a 4 year old's custom Lego house, all different colours that don't go well together

Other than the brown rubber buttons it looks pretty typical for a late 80s/early 90s thing. It's totally rad, dude! Play it louder!

I think "Ugly" builds should be more of a thing. I remember when IPath made a limited run of shoes from left over peices so they were all unique. Retromodding should sell "left over" grab bags with a selection random butttons and shell components for goofball builds like this.

Brown buttons might look good in a woodgrain shell!
if you made it all gold and used the same type of plastic you used for the A and B buttons for the power button and D-pad but in different colours you could make an infinity gauntlet themed gameboy
Feel like at the fox kids club in the 90s they had a gold and silver game boy that they had you could play with like this

Hey, Elliot. Would you give advice on issues with modding? I’m doing a GBA right now and put in a AGS-101 screen. Got everything hooked up and turned it on. The Gameboy turns on, but the screen is completely black. Have you ever run into an issue like this? Is there anything I should check before assuming the screen is just bad?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
