Question i have a mk6 gli w oem bi xenons. Is there a way to downgrade to halogen. Im trying to install all this aftermarket headlights only fit mk6gli w oem halogens . Or is there an adapter to b able to get em on my car?

I heard the light is quite poor with halogen H7 bulbs, so using this light without HID kit has no sense. What do you think using LED bulb instead of halogen? Is it ok ? Thanks.

I have one side that won't work. I have tested all the components on the other side and they work. you have any idea what the lack of power may be? I have an 06 A3.

I have a 2017 GTI and did this upgrade from halogen to hids with the becautoparts golf r reps, they say you don't have to code the computer with this upgrade but my LEDs flickered with the low beams on, and I had to code LEDs in the computer to get it to not flicker, not sure if it was the hid kit or what but after code change it worked perfectly.
I also bought installed Ed's replicas into my GTI but I did not need to do any coding what so ever. Now I bought the GTI lights so maybe since you bought the Golf R version, it may have prompted the flickering for you? Im not really sure but maybe the Golf R headlights are setup differently, however I have herd other people install the Golf R version into their GTI and have had no issue. I also did the HID conversion had no issues.
is there any companies that offer xenon headlights for the Audi 8V?
So for my Mk5 r32 my headlight tabs broke and honestly they are in horrible condition so I am looking for new headlights and I found a pair but it says that they aren’t xenon compatible and that they are for halogen. Is there any way I could make them work on my car that has xenon? Thank you.
I want to go from xenon to LED. I need to tap the bulb into existing powersupply which I know how, but I also need to make the xenon ballast not power on, any1 know how to do that?

2:33 Actually, both Ed's and Helix (directly from OPD) offer a preinstalled HID kit. I cannot recommend doing that option enough. It's only $100 more and they do the install of the bulbs for you.

@Deutsche Auto Parts Is the xenon retrofit headlights brighter than the original halogens? I'm only considering making the switch because I can barely see at night with my current halogen headlights.
If you're going to switch, get the lights directly from OPD. They come with the HIDs preinstalled with the lights. If you get the lights from DAP, they don't offer the HID kit and actually charge more than OPD does for just the headlights without the HID bulbs.
I have stock/original zenon on my car and i was thinking if it is possible to swap them for leds.

d2r are for reflector lamp housing. Just convert to d2 wiring
Also most Xenon bulbs come with a rubber grommet that the wires come thru already

You have to get projectors specifically made for xenon lighting, not just use regular halogen projectors. There's a difference.
What is the difference? Most halogen projectors have manual height adjustment already.
@@ytlurker220 the design of the projector. An HID projector is designed specifically for the shape of an HID bulb, just as a halogen projector is designed for the shape and filament placement of a halogen bulb. The light cutoff shields are also different and HID projectors are rated for higher temperatures. HID bulbs can and have scorched and damaged the halogen projector bowels. It's not good to just throw HID bulbs in halogen projectors.
@@dylangajdosik964 I see, the biggest difference is that cutoff line that can be adjusted to allow for bi-xenon functionality including a high beam in a low beam configuration. It's surprising they burn brighter considering they consume less power.
I bought the Jetta sport 2016, came with halogens. My vw service rep advised against modding the lights to bi-xenon. Same car comes out for 2017, and yep Full LED package available for $1095.

Why can't I put something comparable to the Lighting Package LEDs into my MK7? I know this is old, so I appreciate any reply. I'm just looking to upgrade for the cosmetics.
Lighting package MK7 has a different headlight connector (it think is has 12-14 like compared to the 8-10 the halogen has)

Will the car's computer sense a different wattage from the xenon lights and give an error?

I believe you can. It's even better with projector.
I believe my 2017 golf also has a projector for halogens.

ECU 55 -> Basic Setting -> Basic headlamp setting -> adjust headlights now -> acknowledge basic setting -> done

Maybe this will work in USA but in Germany you will need to test it after changing it you cannot just do it in you garage with Tape on your wall as well you will need TÜV certificate and the law in Germany says if you use Xenon light you will need the water cleaner for the light

Anyone know of a way to connect halogens to a MK7 with an LED package? the bi xenon lights are literally like $1400 what a scam
I ended up getting Ed's replica lights vs the helix ones. By the looks here the installation was a little easier, I didn't have to drill any holes or anything. That said the installation was a huge pain in the ass (the housings and the retrofit kit) and if I could go back in time I would just pony up for the sport trim to get all this shit included from the factory.
I also bought Ed's replicas and installed them. Yeah they were a pain in the ass to install but well worth it. I'm actually kind of happy my GTI didn't come with the upgraded lights from the factor because the Ed's replicas look so much better since both of the "U" light up.
Who's Ed and where can I find his lights?

xenons on stock halogen assembly = dumb people its just wrong reason i keep my rear view mirrors pointing back they will blind themselves works great with tow mirrors on my 2500
This is an insufficient and misleading video on this topic for anyone contemplating an HID retrofit. For example, you don't mention:
- That aftermarket projector kits come with the opening and grommet allowing addition of an external HID kit. You don't need to be drilling new holes in the housing yourself.
- Where and how the external HID components can be mounted
- What happens to the high beams with the projector housing
- Using the beam pattern from the OEM halogen lights does not help to adjust the HIDs. There is no sharp cutoff on the halogen/reflector light pattern that can be used as a reference for the HID/projectors. This process requires a correct HID beam alignment from scratch (i.e. measure and mark).
There are much more complete and accurate guides to this process on VWVortex.
+Jack Wadle thanks for watching. This was never intended to be a DIY. We we looking to answer the basic questions around this topic. To cover your points.
1. That depends on what you are doing. The lights shown do not have a hole and you need to drill them. They also did no include a grommet so the grommets being included will likely vary.
2.again wasn't a DIY so we didn't cover.
3. This will vary by car and by the light you're retrofitting and potentially the HID kit you buy.
4. Yes the beam patterns are different but will still function as a guide. This was mentioned to make sure people adjust the lights.

Changing out headlights is not considered a retrofit. Also adding Xenon bulbs to a halogen headlight is also not considered a retrofit.
Not sure but by definition Retrofit means: To add (a component or accessory) to something that did not have it when manufactured
