    Editor's note: these lenses are compatible with Android as well! I personally use an iPhone, so all of my experience is Apple-based, but Android users have total access to T-Series, too. On that note - which lens are you going to pick up?!

    • @NizarNoor

      Going to pick up the Tele one for my Pixel 8

      There is no Moment app on Android. I'm not sure how they plan on handling the focusing issue. Would be lame to continue to push Filmic pro on Amsroid now that it requires a subscription.

    • @davidcassoday5932
      @davidcassoday5932 ปีที่แล้ว

      @NizarNoor might want to contact Moment. I think these require a new case. I'm not sure if they would release a case for the 8.

      I’m guessing manually focusing with other apps that allow it should work to, right?

  • @JamesCMcKinnon
    @JamesCMcKinnon ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Moment needs to be fair with their customer. Why didn't they talk about the manual focus on their video or on websites. I'm trying to love their product, but lately their reputation and attitude towards their customer is the worst.

    • @StevenSchultz
      @StevenSchultz  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To be fair, Moment does talk about the manual focus component of the Tele lens on their website! That’s where I learned about it in the first place. It’s in their “getting started” guide if you want to check it out for yourself! They just recommend using manual focus for tack sharp portraits on Tele lens specifically. Autofocus works great on the other lenses I tested!

      @@StevenSchultz Thanks for your reply. I still think they should have made those claims in their videos and on their page for a 58mm lens. I understand how modern-day mobile tele lens all struggle with auto-focus, but I feel like every time they release a new product they try to hide those imperfections. They still make you believe there's no vignetting on the m-series lens with iPhone 14, they don't talk about the manual focus. I used to love their videos, but they are just not honest with their customers.

    I love the excitement of the new lens, I'm just not happy that it is not compatible with my small rig and moment cases, I feel like I have to buy a whole new system when I already have the 18mm the 58mm 60mm and the anamorphic lens, it'll cost me a fortune to replace all those in the T-series T_T

    Boy oh boy - Moment should read these comments. Looks like lots of people a skeptical of Moment products now. Too bad, they were trail blazers once but now they are playing catch-up. Manual focus only? You have got to be kidding me.

    • @philipcolumbus3054
      @philipcolumbus3054 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t believe that is true. According to the posts here, manual focus works better than AF for closeups with the telephoto lens. Landscapes can use auto-focus. It seems to apply to one lens in one use case. It’s hardly a blanket statement of capability as you imply.

    Is the bayonet mount attachment any stronger than the previous version? I burn through those universal mounts way too often

    • @StevenSchultz
      @StevenSchultz  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I can't speak to that because the mount attachment I got was pre-production and not very refined. It was sturdy, but I'm very interested to see what the final production mount feels like. Thanks for watching!

  • @LouisLuzuka
    @LouisLuzuka ปีที่แล้ว

    do you know if they're heavier / I'd assume so because of the extra glass

  • @costagf
    @costagf ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does this mean they can't be used effectively with AF either photo or video? Are they MANUAL lenses only (for sharp images) or is this something only the preproduction lenses lack?

    • @StevenSchultz
      @StevenSchultz  ปีที่แล้ว

      The only lens Moment recommends using manual focus with is the Tele 58mm for stills! Autofocus on the other lenses worked great for photo, didn’t try video. The Tele seemed to autofocus fine for landscapes, but manual focus was better for close portraits to get exact focus on the subject’s eye.

    I feel main problem of this lens - native camera doesn't work. And focus is not the only problem - native camera too smart and continually toggles between cameras in the background attempting to find most suitable one per scene and becomes unusable because lens covers other cameras on phone. After all I hope at some point we will have native camera support or even native phone camera lens mount someday.
    I've got some chineese 65mm for 25$ it's a bit soft, but it actually can normalise oversharpened iphone camera look and not that expensive as 150$ moment lens.

    I’ve preordered 4 lenses (58mm,18mm, fisheye,x10 macro) and would’ve bought the M series had I not done research on the lenses performance on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Benefit of doubt at the beginning but once they know there should’ve been a notice on the product of defects due to the larger sensors. As for the compliments regarding focus, yeah folks use the software to run the hardware not a new concept.

    Why I will NEVER do business with Moment again. I ordered the newest T-Series case, drop in mount and anamorphic lens for my iPhone 15 pro max only to pay and find out that Moment couldn’t fulfill the order. The lens was now on back order for like 2 weeks. So they shipped the case and mount. The case is extremely cheap! Well not in price as they charge $40 for the POs case and $5 more for the cheap ass plastic drop in mount! When it came time for them to ship the lens as the order stated they said they didn’t have any lens yet and hoped it would ship the following month. That didn’t work for me and I asked for a full refund. They refunded the lens and then sent me the return email for the case and mount. Now it says they are charging me $10 to return something I never opened or used! On top of that you have to print their return label and packing slip! $10 to return something I never used and on top of that I have to pay to print out a return label. Not because I didn’t want it but because Moment couldn’t fulfill the order I paid for. Welp, that will definitely make me never purchase anything from Moment again.

    • @StevenSchultz
      @StevenSchultz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The lenses I tested were all pre-production - the final production copies will have better coatings to reduce flare! Curious to see the difference when they ship. Thanks for watching!

      Hi Nicole! If you have an iPhone 12, I would recommend look at the Moment M-Series lenses and cases. These new T-Series lenses are optimized for newer phone sensors (iPhone 14 & beyond), and the M-Series lenses and cases are better suited for your phone. Hope that helps!!

    • @i24p71
      @i24p71 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Old lenses produce blurry images on the iphone 14 pro phones which has larger sensor sizez. That's why they upgrade they lens lineup with larger diameter to improve them optically.

      Here’s what you need to know;
      The T-Series Lenses work on phones made after 2022.
      Such as the iPhone 13/14, Pixel 7, or Samsung S23
      If you’re using a previous-generation phone, check out our M-Series lenses
      To attach the lenses to your phone you have two options;
      Moment Case + Drop-in Lens Mounts
      We have Moment Cases for tons of phones
      For T-Series, there are drop-in lens mounts for the iPhone 13 & 14 models. M-Series we go all the way back to iPhone 7.
      T-Series iPhone 13 Drop in Mounts
      T-Series iPhone 14 Drop in Mounts
      For other devices, we’d recommend a T-Series Universal Lens Mount
