    At my C&P, the line of questioning that surprised me was about my parents and my childhood. I, of course, answered honestly. But keep in mind that painting a picture of abuse, neglect or an otherwise unhappy childhood may be used to absolve your time in service of any culpability. 100% P&T for Depression and Social Anxiety secondary to 30+ years of chronic back pain, FYI.

      I get you, I will have to go through that, I'm sure I will be asked the same questions. But I have to remember I served 19.9 months, head trauma in an car accident, aircraft fire, a NYC mugging all during active duty. I took a drug out of pain, anxiety, memory lose and anger, I just found out I have PTSD. 30's later I will never give up. Thank you for your service.

He was more worried about dates of when my parents got divorced and why they got divorced and trying to figure out how to use the system that he was using for the appointment/exam.

    FYI: I am signed up for the services. Just had my 2nd C&P exam for my Tinnitus after getting denied and filed for HLR and waiting 8 months. "ASSUMING" I get approved, I'm doing research on what I could expect next. While in USAF, I started to develop alcohol issues because of my Tinnitus, A.K.A self medicated myself. Ended up with the shrink after DUI incident on base so, THAT parts are in my medical records(or it should be). Ever since discharge, I started to have mental health issues in a way of short temperedness, anger issues and "anti-social" behaviors and ended up in divorce with my ex wife after 7 years. My current wife had noticed my temper and irritability getting "worse" in her opinion after 20+ years of marriage. What say you???

    How does it work if you are on medication, and a lot of your symptoms go away. But if you go off medication for even a week you start falling apart and not eating, sleeping, and having suicidal thoughts? Would they still consider you not disabled because you are able to function as long as you are on powerful psychiatric medication?

I was informed by attached letter of my right to appeal however, at the time I did not know if there was anything to appeal. Aloha Brian, I called to schedule my mental health exam with telemedical and they told me that they do not have any providers in Oahu that can see me. If it's done virtual why do I need to be in the same state? I don't know my next recourse. I am a VA insider member. Thanks in advance.

    • @VAClaimsInsider
      @VAClaimsInsider  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Robert! The VA will deny a claim if the veteran does not see a provider licensed in the state they are physically in at the time of the evaluation. Being virtual does not bypass this requirement.
      Back history may help here: during Covid, 2020-late 2021 the VA relaxed this requirement and allowed veterans to see virtual providers licensed in other states. They have reverted back to stricter polices and require that veterans only see providers that are licensed in the state where the veteran is physically located.

      Your VA rating for mental health, including PTSD, has nothing to do with your guns. By law, the VA can not take away your guns. It would be an unlawful seizure without a warrant. However, while the VA does not have the authority to take away your guns or impose any other limitations based on ratings, VA ratings can potentially impact other aspects of a Veteran’s life, and I encourage you to consider your own individual circumstances.

    "don't shower for a week" got you my thumbs down. I'm about to file for Depression and I have not showered in over a month. I've talked to shrinks and they can not help my situation. You are what you are, do not give advice like that just because "it is a bad look for veterans". If I could get out of this funk I'm in and actually care for personal hygiene or cleaning the house or any number of other things I neglect because I simply do not feel like I have the energy or the will to do them, then things may be different. Is this situation fairly normal? I had a c&p exam in early December, it was pretty short because the doctor Said everything was already pretty well documented. I took time to speak about my situation anyway even though he had almost no questions. I haven't received any update since though. Is the backlog really this bad lately?

      Hi there! It's time to be patient. There is a significant backlog, that is correct. Here at VACI, our Veterans get a decision back, on average, in around 90-120 days. Keep us posted!

    The VA claims they cannot locate my service treatment records. I've been out for 30 years. I went to the national archives but it doesn't seem like there's an option to choose from but if someone has any insight I would greatly appreciate

    So once they do cal (been waiting forever), and i do go in (PTSD from MST, diagnosed by a psychiatrist amd i habe a restriced LOD on file), do i tell them how it IS on my worst day because they ask "tell me about your worst days" or do i simply discuss my symptoms that exist ON my worst day? I hope this question makes sense

    Im scheduled for a video conference c&p exam for mental health tomorrow.
    Just the thought of willingly subjecting myself to that line of questioning triggers major anxiety.
    I have two buddy letters from guys i deployed with, both of whom are rated for ptsd.. Do i need to have those letters at the ready for my exam? Or will they not want to see those?

    Everyone says if your suicidal get help. It’s all bull shit there’s no help! Begged the VA for help for years even said “ it’s to the point I want to check out the question is do I bring you with for being derilict in your duties” nothing. Fought for a year to get out side VA doctor. A “self proclaimed liberal from Cambridge University “ who tried to show me a skit where a guy comes out as gay. I don’t want to see this shit! She said I should find a doctor I calling with politically. Called the hot line- they never call back when they say they will. There’s no help! They don’t care about losing a life, do they care when you drop one of their buildings to rubble?

    I had my c&p exam today and the Dr. was easy going I answered my questions straight forward and didn't talk too much. He said he agreed with me having PTSD and he was going to put in the "remarks" that I need intensive inpatient care to help me deal with my PTSD? Has anyone ever had that at their exam?
