Great idea on making this video. I was shopping on Amazon for about two hours before I decided that these two models were superior, but could not decide between the two. For those who want to hear the comparison more than once ANKER 3:45 OONTZ 4:20
@Bonus Malus I bought the sound core and love it. In my garage or living room it's plenty loud and great quality. At the park or out on the lake its pretty quiet.
@@marcolujan2457 I bought this Anker, the DOS Pro and the Oontz 3U to listen to all 3 side by side. It was racking my brain and i don't want to do that again. I went with the Oontz but it was difficult to tell which was better. Oontz was clearer; DOS had best bass and Anker was 2nd best bass. DOS used up battery much faster. All 3 were in the same price range. When I watch this video, I start thinking whether I shoulda kept the Anker. Just get one and forget about it, it's very difficult to tell.
Anker Soundcore 2 for me. I own one already and love it. I also own the Anker Soundcore Boost which has higher volume and deeper bass. Looking for a second speaker, I saw the Oontz and was tempted because it was $5.00 cheaper today. Looked for a review and found this video. All I needed to know. I want sound quality more than volume. Also, I like the longer battery life. Anker has had good batteries for me. Thanks for this video.
I got the Anker primarily because of its long play time and the button positions. I have it mounted on the handlebars of my bike and the buttons are very easy to get at.
I bought one primarily for a tiny PC sound bar, for when I don't wanna use headphones. It is amazing what a crapshoot the low-profile PC speaker market is whereas the cheap bluetooth all in one market is so nice.
I haven't tried the Anker yet, but I completely LOVE my OontZ Angle 3 Ultra. It sounds amazing, and the button layout issue can be easily fixed by placing the speaker on its side, so that the buttons face up. The battery life is also great, I'm not a really heavy user, but some times I do use it for hours and I can say it lasts for days on that usage pattern. Great video!
Both are great. I've owned the ultra for over a year and I love it. Cold hot damp ; any condition I've thrown at it, it has surpassed. I wouldn't change but I gifted the anker to a family member as a gift and he heavily uses it everyday.its been a year of that and it's still going hard. Both are great. Neither will disappoint
I've had my original Oontz now for about 5 years and for the money I really appreciate and still use it to this day. I've been thinking about upgrading it and my issue now is brand loyalty and the fact that it still works. I work in a pizza kitchen so flour is everywhere all of the time, I lost my perforated covering a few years back and it just keeps on chugging, still getting about 8 hours per charge and without having to charge it through multiple days/uses.
The reason why the Oontz angle 3 Ultra has the buttons on the side is because a lot of the younger people like to party with their speakers in their hand so it's easy for them to push on the buttons
I upgraded to the Oontz Pro and I am so glad. Huge difference. $107.72 with free shipping for 2 speakers! Amazing sound! A bit tricky pairing them but there is a booklet that helps. But I struggled with it.
Oontz Angle lived on shelf - used only for podcasts 30 minutes a day died at 16 months. It won't turn on. I'm going with Anker this time (LOVE their Soundbuds Curve)
Great review. As Soldierboy points out, one of the big advantages of the Oontz is that without a special app, it can be paired in seconds with another Oontz for true stereo sound (left and right channels) in the same room - or to play stereo sound from each Oontz in different rooms simultaneously using the same device. I have 2 OA3 Ultras and together they can fill a room with decent sound. I’m not aware of a single Bluetooth speaker under $200 that can fill a room with the same sound as two OA3 Ultra units - and certainly not with the same stereo separation. I agree that the button placement on the 0A3 Ultra is not as convenient as the Anker, however if stood on its side (vertically) the buttons are much more convenient and in certain conditions and surfaces the OA3 can deliver better bass than if placed horizontally.
Accounting for the fact that the beginning of the test song is softer, more muffled and less punchy than the end, I think the Oontz sounds better. I don't own either.
Thanks and great review...but I just wanted to point out another major difference. The Oontz has those left and right arrows on the panel ↔️ that allows one to go to the previous or next song or video, with a simple tap. I think that this is a major convenience which exceeds general preference.
I wouldn't recommend buying a single OontZ but TWO! I use mine all the time paired and get lots of compliments. Two sound better than twice as good. If using in direct sun buy the white one.
I agree with the even handed review and am going with the louder Oontz 3 to mount on my zero FX motorcycle. Would prefer the buttons to be on top but can usually control all that conveniently through my Apple watch anyway. Thanks for a great review!
Don't know if you will read this but, "Highest Possible Commendation" for being interested in the viewer and NOT YOURSELF!! Excellent Presentation. Made my choice simple.
Thank you for this review. I got the Oontz Angle 3 Ultra and wanted was wondering about the sound quality of the Anker Soundcore 2...I decided to buy the Anker, the price went down and it seems the battery life is better than the Oontz...also its smaller and more portable than the Oontz for my tastes :). But honestly, the Oontz is amazing, I love it, the volume, range and bass is awesome!
@@christinagordon1071 Angle 3 Ultra. Better and louder Base. But both are really good. I currently have the small Marshall Bluetooth Speaker now. Better than both the Anker 2 and Angle 3 Ultra. Its pricy but worth every penny.
Thinking about buying the Oontz speaker soon. Want to use it for electronic music so a good bass is very important to me- is this speaker good? Of course not looking to fill up a house with crystal clear music, but I want a decent priced speaker that's loud, clear, and has powerful bass
Remember when you put both volumes at same values doesn't always show how loud it can go , the volume on different systems , the gain can be slower to go up louder on one to the other , maybe one can get much louder on say 60 and other on 50 may sound louder , btw stand the oontz on end and its more in line of a traditional standing speaker and pair two left and right stereo take up much less room , ty for review
Very Nice video!!! Very well explained and You spoke Very Clearly. Understanding the person on the video is Many times a task in itself. I had a Anker speaker many years ago and Really liked it. Thanks so much.
I have enjoyed my pair of OOntz Angle Ultra's for 4+ years. I dropped an earlier model (more than once) and was disappointed that i had to by 2 new v4's (which are a wee bit quieter than the earlier model, although a tad better soun quality). I really like the angluar design particulary. I am unsure if you can pair Soundcore's but let me confirm that by doing so with the Angle 3 Ulra's improve the sound quality 10 fold. I am inclined to purchase more to hope to increase volume levels, (surround sound possibilities) although there are decently loud, and are particulary so when used within a more enclosed space (i.e. against a wall, and/or under a roof).[This will assist with a good notch up on sound quality and rectifying bass issues- I do respect that the separate passive-bass which can be creatively enhanched, and put to good use). I have been using them mostly with my phone and so I have had near zero use of the controls (except on/off, and occasionally volume - I generally have them maxed out).. Also, I do tend to use an equaliser app aswell, to assist with the not A+ (bass issues mostly) sound quality niggles. A lovely pair of highly enjoyed speakers with have had numerous enquires at BBQ's, etc. I have been taking great pleasure walking around with one in each of my jacket pockets, or attached to my bicycle. Really great sound/volume for the price, but- do buy a pair! good battery life too. I might recharge them every 4-5th use, merlet because I notive the volume levels starting to drop. One slight niggle is that there isn't different left/right designs and that you have to turn one of them upside to balance, as the bass is on one of the three sides. (-I tend to use them vertically) x
I find the top controls better too. I often take my Anker into the bathroom when I am having a shower. I can easily mash the buttons on top with a damp hand without getting the internals wet. I'm not sure that would be the case with the Oontz as I would probably need to use two hands - one to hold it steady and one to press the buttons.
Hi, I don't own both so I can't really answer your question, sorry. But, I would say you cannot go wrong with the Anker. It's a very good unit with excellent sound quality and very good battery life. Thanks.
Very nice review, very impressive presentation. One question that bubbled up for me, however, is that I know that if you buy 2 Oontz, you can pair them....which is HUGE! This topic was not addressed in this particular video. Perhaps the Anker does this too? But if not, nix on the Anker....I wish to buy 2 speakers and pair them up. I think this video would have been better if it addressed this topic. Otherwise, this was great, you are very good at this!
Realized that Oontz 3 ultra has an app also to adjust the EQ, and connect two speakers together in Dual Mode...has anyone tried the app and does that helps making the bass richer on Oontz?? ... Ultra 3 (4th gen) now also seems to have USB-C charging...that's some improvement!
I had bought the JBL Flip 4 bluetooth speakers based on all the positive reviews I read online, but was disappointed in how muddy the sound was when I raised the volume. I returned them and bought the Oontz Angle 3XL Ultra speakers instead, and boy am I happy I did. These blow the JBL out of the water! Granted, they are bigger but I am willing to deal with the larger size to get this incredible sound. And don't believe those who say it doesn't have enough bass, this baby rocks!
Really nice comparison and proper details. And I like your audio (voice!) my friend :)...sweet and soothing!...SO for me Anker it is with better bass and sound quality!
The Anker logo across the front in such L A R G E font is a negative for me, the OontZ design all over is preferable. The top buttons on the Anker is more accessible. If you put it in a cup holder in the car, the side controls on the Oontz is easier. Thanks for your detailed review!!!

The sound is alot clearer and the bass is twice as good. I'd go with the Anker all day.
You forgot to mention if you own two Oontz Ultra 3 Bluetooth speakers you can pair them together and have both of them play from your device at once. Pretty cool.
If this is actually micro USB charging then it's a hard pass. I had an Oontz Angel about 6yo. Loved it. Micro USB port failed. (Not cables. Tested/verified. Though I'd try a different brand but similar. During the time I had it I had bought a few Anker battery pack with amazing quality. Since Soundcore was theirs I'd try one of the Anker Soundcore ones. Amazing sound. Micro USB failed in just over a year. Liked it enough to get the same one. Lasted about 6mo b4 the micro USB failed. This time under warranty. They offered the Soundcore 2 for the trouble. Again, great sound. Micro USB failed again. Now I'm getting pissed. I reluctantly dealt with Anker directly. They then sent me a Soundcore Boost. Best sounding most powerful bluetooth speaker I've ever heard. Except the Bose one. Brother owns not me but the sound was killer. Anyway, the Soundcore Boost would eventually stop charging. None of these speakers were ever used outside. Only as substitutes for my tablet or chromebook speaker. No constant plugging and unplugging to wear out port or broke the port. I could get nearly all of them to flicker the power light by gently moving the cable end around a bit. I could get the light to stay on if I remained stil or the connected would break. I do blame Soundcore for every failure since USB type C began seeping into the OEM market. Micro USB's have failed on 2 of ps4 controllers, 2 different tablets, (thank God for wireless charging) and my HTC10. It's not just Soundcore. Micro USB has been a problematic charging port to begin with. My options are a either a speaker with usb c connection or another micro usb and try using a magnetic usb charging cable. The ones that use magnetic end pieces for micro USB, usb type c and whatever the iPhone connection is. I dont use Apple products. Those tips usually fit very snug and since that piece never comes there would be no possibility of it breaking from wear and tear. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Now close your eyes. Imagine we're standing closer together than the W.H.O. guidelines allow. Imagine were face to face. I make a fist and extend my arm. You follow suit and boom we "fist bump." Thanking you for a great video and thanking you for letting me ask 4 advice in the comments of one of your videos. Peace. Stay healthy. **Forgot to mention that
I have a anker soundcore 2 love it sound quality bass is amazing for the price had it 3 years now if it breaks I will not even shop about for anything else I will just be buying another one
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
Made the mistake of thinking that no way there would be any issues with aux-in latency on the Soundcore 2. Well surprise suprise. the lag I have with 2 of these is simply horrendous. Should have done my homework just a bit better. This is by no means an exception either. Seems like it happens more often than not without a resolution being offerd by Anker. Other than that, they are okay. But bought them mainly to be used with the aux-in option. Should have chosen with a little more caution on my part.
Oontz angle 3 is NOT good if you want to use them for watching movies on your laptop. Streaming sound doesn't sync well over bluetooth. I LOVE the sound, so simply listening to music sounds great, just not when watching people speak or sing. Very annoying.
Oontz Ultra 3 had much better mid to mid low sounds. Better bass on the SoundCore 2. Totally agree - outdoors/car oontz. Indoor - SoundCore2. As a side note - they both are now completely waterproof at IP7 rating. Thanks for review.
Good review. However, I couldn't disagree with you more as to which of these two speakers creates the best sound. I just purchased both of these and gave the Anker to my wife and I'll be using the superior sounding OontZ. For clarity, tone and balanced sound throughout the tonal range the Oontz is so much better. I listen to quality music, jazz, well produced rock and some classical. The Oontz, to my surprise, is partnered with Cambridge Soundworks. They produce high end audio and it shows in the technology that went into this modestly priced speaker. It's a great sounding speaker given it's size and price. However, if one listen to the type of music you sampled in this video. I could see why you might prefer the Anker. It's not bad, just muddy for my taste. Best!
I bought this Oontz because it was billed as "the perfect shower speaker." It's not very good. Water has gotten inside of it easily. (SOLUTION: Put it in a ziplock bag with a cup of dried rice for 2 days with the charge flap open.) This is the second time it's happened to me. I am buying the Anker because it is IPX7 vs IPX6 for the Oontz. I will agree that it is a great sounding speaker for the money and size. The battery lasts a long time. If it were not for the poor water repellency, it would be perfect for my needs.
i cant tell the different lol. not enough bass on both. just save a bit more and get those UE Boom when they r on sale like right now on bestbuy canada its 100$ + tax.

It is perfect for indoor use and the bass is there, as many reviews have stated. I have the Oontz Angle3 ultra. I purchased it to use on my rather loud diesel forklift that I operate outdoors all day. It wasn't quite loud enough for that, for podcasts and such...but for indoor or patio it's perfect

You forgot to mention if you own two Oontz Ultra 3 Bluetooth speakers you can pair them together and have both of them play from your device at once. Pretty cool.
I didn’t forget to mention it. It was mentioned in my full review of the Oontz
In case you were wondering, you can do so with the Anker's as well
If this is actually micro USB charging then it's a hard pass.
**Forgot to mention that
Thanks, Jim!
So for giving classes in a room which one is better?
great review. thanks for the thoroughness
Thanks!
I have a anker soundcore 2 love it sound quality bass is amazing for the price had it 3 years now if it breaks I will not even shop about for anything else I will just be buying another one
I had oontz angle 3 it was very amazing. Oontz really good
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower.
Very interesting and useful comparison.
Thanks
Made the mistake of thinking that no way there would be any issues with aux-in latency on the Soundcore 2. Well surprise suprise. the lag I have with 2 of these is simply horrendous. Should have done my homework just a bit better. This is by no means an exception either. Seems like it happens more often than not without a resolution being offerd by Anker. Other than that, they are okay. But bought them mainly to be used with the aux-in option. Should have chosen with a little more caution on my part.
ANKER IS THE WINNER PER BASS
Great review! Efficient and Clear!
Thank you!
Im buying both just because your voice convinced me
I ordered the Oontz
How was your experience?
Question? How can a device be too loud?
Oontz is USB-C, does that mean faster charging?
thanks a lot, I was going with the Oontz, but after your review I changed my mind. Thanks
Thanks for the comment
Brilliant! Thank you!!
You’re welcome
Thanks for vid. You've made up my mind on which of the 2 to go with. Both speakers are quality. If I could, I'd give you 2 thumbs up!
Thanks!
So which did you picked?
Javier Mireles what did you go with?
Ty for sound level
You’re welcome
I just put my angle 3 in the water bottle pocket of my backpack, it fits perfectly and won’t fall put
Thanks for the comment
Oontz angle 3 is NOT good if you want to use them for watching movies on your laptop. Streaming sound doesn't sync well over bluetooth. I LOVE the sound, so simply listening to music sounds great, just not when watching people speak or sing. Very annoying.
4ndyk4t firmware update is available
Solved it with firmware update. Update your firmware and it should be fixed
Anker wins
Excellent review
Thanks
Thanks for the video. Waiting O. The delivery of my anker.
Best!
Thanks for the comment
Hey, does the angle 3 ultra have good bass and volume?
Great video
Thanks
It’s still hard to decide I want loud and clear sound for $40 😩
DOSS Soundbox Pro Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review and Bass Test th-cam.com/video/4nmbspamsiE/w-d-xo.html
Anker bass is a lot better
Thanks for the comment
thank you!
If it were not for the poor water repellency, it would be perfect for my needs.
i own both of these, the oontz is louder.
Victor Hassan sound quality?
But is it better in your perception?
i cant tell the different lol. not enough bass on both. just save a bit more and get those UE Boom when they r on sale like right now on bestbuy canada its 100$ + tax.
sounds? about the same, both not enough bass.

OOONTZ FOR ME
Best for anker
Good all
Anker.
Anker is ipx7
I hate anker speaker but they work and cheap price.
I stay with sony only
Anker is better and the Oontz is a boom box lower quality sound.
oontz sounds cheap
Thinking about buying the Oontz speaker soon. Want to use it for electronic music so a good bass is very important to me- is this speaker good? Of course not looking to fill up a house with crystal clear music, but I want a decent priced speaker that's loud, clear, and has powerful bass
@@radishfox308 so is this good for outdoors, I mean being really loud and still having good sound quality
Thank you!
You’re welcome
