What is the purpose of the minimum stay requirement? I don't get that. If I were to apply for a visa like this I would live in the place. The 30-day minimum stay would not even be an issue. I would be there almost the whole time. Why would someone apply for a resident visa like this and not live there? What am I missing about this? Obviously people do apply for a visa like this and then don't live there or else it wouldn't be a requirement at all, but I don't understand why people do this.
It all pivots on the property can/or must basically. I'm 41 and fulfill the other requirements, but if buying property is a must, I'm ruled out immediately
Looks like Sabah also requires you to have a history of visiting Sabah in your passport. Haven't seen yet how long back they require this though, or if you can make an exploration trip there once at this point, to see if you like it, and then just return a littler later in the year to start the application process, or if you need years of history visiting Sabah ..
I saw articles about this news as well, and I had the same question re: the property purchase (is it required or simply make approved applicants eligible?). Hopefully more clarification will be provided in the future. As for the original MM2H in the mainland, I hope the requirements are returned to something similar to pre-pandemic times. I'm sure Malaysia is losing out to other nearby counties (I'm looking at you Thailand) who offer several attractive visa options that make the application requirements and processing very straight forward.
I hope so too. I understand they want to filter out and make sure you can support yourself living there and bringing more currency import and spending to the country etc, but the 40K ringgit per month income seems like an extremely tight filter that will eliminate most people from applying for the MM2H - unless they're just predicting extreme inflation and/or great devaluation of the ringgit..
i hope all this changes within the next couple of years.. wife and i were planning to retire to maylasia... the government is making it so difficult.. i hope they smarten up
😂😂😂😂 what’s the point??? 😂😂😂. What a joke. What’s the problem with the frigging Malaysia government as a whole? I lost $2000 in 2020 after cancelled MM2H
Thanks for the update very helpful
thanks for the update.

I haven’t heard this requirement, but it could certainly turn out that way. Will wait and see!
