That barbwire is basically useless unless it is tensioned with a tensioner. Plus it can easily be cut in 10 seconds unless you have several layers. Just a suggestion in lieu of barb wire on that tier wall. Plant some Bougainvillea spectabilis all along the bottom of the wall. In your wet tropical environment it will quickly spread up and across covering the entire wall in less than one year. The advantage to Bougainvillea spectabilis is that it has hundreds of 3 inch strong thorns throughout the plant that will deter anyone or any animal from grabbing it or climbing it. Plus the leaves turn a beautiful pink or purple (depending on variety) color that goes on perpetually in a tropical environment so that wall concrete would become a wall of pink and purple color. Plus since it is the leaves that turn vs actually producing a flower they do not attract bees or other pests. Bougainvillea spectabilis is available in most regions of the Philippines. 20-30 five gallon sized bushes evenly across the bottom would do. They generally cost around 500P per five gallon sized plant.
Note that the barbed wire isn't really there to stop anyone, rather have the same role as a "no trespassing" sign. We will eventually (probably) install a bit sturdier fencing etc, but our border is around 2 km...there's no way I can afford a good enough fence. But yeah, it's temporary, just to show that people aren't allowed (which is enough most of the time here).
Amazing job keep it up ! A question where are lightswitches and head lamps wires it should be in the walls no? 11:30 you say about water tank in roof and you do not want because of wind or ice? I dont think it does snow in PH. If you put washers on door hinges wont go up a bit? Balut is amazing the duck egg did you eat it? Taste like chiken liver its very tasty ! In Greece they work for 30 bucks 8 hours or 25 euro !
Thank you! We won't put wires in the walls, rather use plastic molding. Not for everyone, but we like it! We don't want the tank on the roof because it'd be an eye sore (look bad). No snow/ice here! 😁 As for the duck embryo - no thanks! I would definitely throw up, not even trying it! Workers here are way more affordable (5-6 euros a day), but typically you get what you pay for. We found people that we really like, and are neighbors, so we make sure they have steady income + give lots of extras.
We plan to use the rebars, and the kids shouldn't be running around regardless according to us. However, things work different here, and since the kids are happier and healthier than in the West, I'm not going to tell other adults how to raise or handle their own kids. Our area is safer than most areas they are around here in the province, including their own home. It's a different culture and since their kids aren't confused about their genders, or on ADHD medications etc...I think we should learn from them rather than the other way around. That said, we're installing barbed wire and more to restrict the kids' movement.
That's a good question! We have enough juice to run everything except the welding machine, so hopefully it's just that that is the issue. It worked fine until a transformer down the line broke, so the assumption (mother of all...) was that the issue was with the line. We'll go check the welder at someone else one day, to find out!
Yummy cornbread and grits.
Yeah, corn has pretty much taken over the role of rice for us. And we have like 1.5 tonnes anyway! 😆
you got 2 choices mate.
elevated water tank to increase head pressure. or install a pump and accumlimater.
Yeah, pump+pressure tank will most likely be the answer for us.
Looking great. Attached the barbed wire to your power. That’ll keep them out. Lol
Haha, yeah, Filipinos REALLY don't like electrified fences (I remember the comments when Armstrong built his first house).
@@ABetterLifePH maybe just hang signs on it that say electric fence. lol
You and my wife think the same! 😆
🌽😊

@@ABetterLifePH Thank you for reply !
Your "boy" is good
Their whole immediate family is great!
Have you tried balut yet 🤣🤣
As far as I know, hell has not yet frozen over! 😂
If theres kids running around there you should remove that exposed rebar pointed upwards. Thats a danger for any age.
