I just bought a tube of RTV silicone and just siliconed the piece back. Took two minutes to do, and 24 hrs to fully cure. Once cured it is good as new. You dont even need to take the door apart to apply the silicone but I highly recommend using painters tape to keep the stuff from getting on the car interior as it is difficult to clean but can be cleaned while wet with rubbing alcohol.
Thanks. Is there a way that I can wire up my windows to work with the key off. It's ridiculous that my kids can't even get fresh air and the rear door glass lift has no key lock where does the passenger door.
Take door panel off and you’ll see entire rod assembly. 1 of 2 things causing it 1 plastic lock piece square replace it. 2 little clip that holds door rod is broken/bent replace it. #1 fixed the same issue I had on mine.
@ the plastic lock is fine but it looks like someone had lubed the rod where it connects in the white pallid pieces to slide back and fourth so I wonder if the lock actuator thing inside don’t have enough power to slide it enough . It locks and unlocks fine but my lock don’t slide so I guess I can try replaced those first tho but they seem fine
Man i just fixed mine up with 2 zip ties, my bracket on both doors where the clip sits broke but had a piece left so i put a ziptie on that piece that is left to hold the ziptie which will pull the clip in towards the door panel, didnt even have to tighten it much and it holds well, cut the extra ziptie sticking out and tucked it in with a flathead screwdriver and bam, the only issue was the lining of the switches was a bit off from the panel but i can glance over it
No, I've never encountered a loose window in 20 years of driving this generation vehicle, Tahoes and Suburbans. If I had a loose window, I would remove the inside door panel with the window in the full up position and use a 10mm socket to tighten the 2 friction fittings with the rubber liners that secure the window glass to the actuator assembly. You will see the bolts that need to be tightened about 6" below the window opening in the car door and about 6" in from each end.
I fixed mine almost the same way. It worked well. Thanks for the tip. Saved me some bucks. Hello from Buckeye, Arizona.
You are welcome.

If you want to modify the existing wire harness, you can attach the power wire for the windows to a red that is always hot, under the dash.
THANK YOU ! This video answered lts of questions i had. I have the same issue and will gather all tools needed and fix it soon !
You are welcome. I am glad the video helped you.
What was the broken part called when you looked it up on eBay for $80 ?
probable the entire door panel
@@1LElife THe whole door panel would cost much much more !
Were the buttons not working in the 1st place ??
The buttons work fine. The beige panel that the switch sits in was not properly attached to the interior door pane.
Thank you. Every other videos malfunctioning window switch, not this issue
You are welcome.
Cool. Good ideas. You “McGuyver’d” that door!
Thank you. Yep, MacGyver and I are old friends.
Great job thanks for the video
What gauge and type of wire did you use for this job? Thanks!!!
I don't know the wire specifics. I used what I had laying around in the barn.
Thank you sir.

Have you happened to do the loose windows issues these vehicles get over time? 👍 subscribed

I saw another video of a 3d printed clip a guy bought off eBay to do repair.
Sounds good.
I used Superglue and Zip tie the whole thing to hold over night and damn it’s holding up
Nice job
Nice job
Thank you.
Thank you.
Nice, I'll be working on mine soon.
they make inserts to fix this for $10 on ebay
Thanks for commenting. I wasn't aware of that.
Can you provide a link. Not sure what to search.
@1LElife, yes a link would be great! Thanks!
*They're all broken!* 😂
Noooo, I used double sided tape on mine
You must have better tape than I do. I tried that first.
@OldGuyDIY maybe
Nothing wrong with that repair.
Thank you. It is working well for me.
