    This is exactly what I was looking for, I was looking at the yellow 3D piece and I was confused on what I was supposed to do with it. You saved me some frustration

    Just the video I need. Same exact issue with my 2004 on the passenger side. I thought I'd buy a new bezel as well, but now I think it's just the clip because it's only loose on the handle side like in your video. It's hilarious how much plastic is in these things. Haha

    Could’ve showed the white plastic trimmed before installing. The yellow plastic pc. doesn’t need to be glued, or screwed into place. Just slide it into place and pop the control as he shows at the end, works perfect 🤙🏻

    How did you fasten the yellow plastic 3D-printed piece you bought into the door pull? Does it just fit with friction from the front part of the switch panel pushing against it, or do you need to epoxy the piece into the door pull?

    • @jc13781
      @jc13781  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question, yes it just slots in you don’t need to fasten it. Because the door panel clips into it and it can’t go anywhere. It’s a clever design.

    How do you attach the 3d piece? Does it just slide in or do you epoxy it in place? Thanks

    • @jc13781
      @jc13781  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It just slides in once you have the area prepared. The way the pieces fit together it’s not necessary to glue anything.

    👍 excellent. Thanks. Have you dealt with the loose/jiggly windows on these same vehicles?

    • @jc13781
      @jc13781  ปีที่แล้ว

      the windows in my truck aren't loose or jiggly, but the window regulators themselves are awful and slow and sometimes stall out in cold weather.
      if yours are loose, i would remove the door panel, and search around to see if any of the fasteners have come loose. also the tracks that the window rides on should not be worn out. if they are it would be time to replace them.
      the reason i made this video was because i had searched EVERYWHERE for a solution to this issue, and saw zero good youtube videos, or forum posts on truck forums, or really anywhere else. it was only out of dumb luck that i saw this weird little 3D printed thing on ebay and figured i would try it out, and out of sheer surprise it worked flawlessly.
      i only wish i had a 3D printer so i could make the part myself instead of sending so many sales over to the person who is currently selling them hahahaha

    Can't I just put small screw there without the clip

    • @jc13781
      @jc13781  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s one way to do it, but every time you open the door you’re putting stress on a screw that will eventually strip out of the plastic.

    There's a cheaper easier fix. Put a 1 1/2" screw into the white plastic (so it's being screwed in towards the rear of the car) where the yellow 3d printed piece is. Position the screw so its right on the inside edge (closest to the seat) of where the clip would be and leave the screw out enough that the head is just on the front side of where the clip would be. Also keep it about 1/4 inch below the grab handle surface. When you place the switch assembly back in the screw will keep it pressed against the door.

    • @jc13781
      @jc13781  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is that the white plastic is not very strong and this area of the door sees a lot of flexing and pressure from people opening and closing the door. A screw will ultimately strip itself out and the plastic can become cracked and even more brittle. This is a very temporary solution, that will eventually ruin the door panel completely. You could fill it in with fiber reinforced epoxy but I mean, why? Why not spend $9 and just have a simple fast solution that takes 20 minutes.
