I saw your videos on changing the door handles and window motor on the rear doors of similar make/model. I can't thank you enough! My handles weren't working (nor the lock). It turned out that the only thing I needed to do was pop the lock out and make sure it was on the lock bar. The problem happened because the (dealership) had changed the motor, and left door panel WITHOUT the screws!! So someone accidentally dislodged it. I also replaced the screws. Thank you for your help!
WARNING IF your truck has the window switches that you pull up on (2003 later) to put the windows up then you remove the door panel and then unplug the switches from behind. The switch panel does not pop off like this video.
Another great video by 1aauto. I've had to replace my interior door handle twice on my Suburban and you do a great job in showing every step via multiple videos. Thanks! Mike
Thank u soo much! My window fell into the door n I thought I was screwed but I did your steps and fixed it myself without taking to a shop!! Thank you soo much !
Thanks for the Video. Just a word of caution. I broke off a plastic part in trying to use these instructons on a 2003 Yukon. While the panel looks identical to the one here, the power window swith asssembly is attached at the front end from underneath (pointy end) with a small screw that is accessed from below but only after the door panel is pulled away from the door. If you try to pry it out as shown, it'll snap!
Thanks for sharing this. I had the panel off the drivers door once before, but had forgot about the lift up part. Like that better than those plastic press in and rip out things.
@MrTerry2nd If there isn't a screw on the front of the lens that holds it into place, you would need to remove the door panel as shown in the video. Then you should be able to access it from the back of the door panel.
Thank you for watching! Our ultimate goal with these videos is to save good folks like you from having to spend extra money on repairs. We're very happy to hear it helped. Have a great day! 1AAuto.com 888-844-3393
Dont do this. The door window control module DOES NOT POP OUT. The front of it is screwed in. If you pry it, it will break the plastic post. 2003 Tahoe LT.
@Cousinorange Currently we do not have a repair video that shows this procedure. It may be held in with a couple of screws and/or push pins to hold it in place. Hope this helps.
2003 Tahoe is different. Cannot remove window control panel until door panel is removed - unless you want to break both clips - one secured by a bolt/screw - do it from the inside. I only found one 7mm bolt, not two. Perhaps my door had been removed before.
Like another post here, the 2004 Suburban has the window and control cluster attached from underneath the door panel and cannot be removed from the top. The second screw to remove is next to the lock release instead of inside the door panel near the control cluster. Trying to remove the control cluster from the top may cause some damage since it is screwed in from the bottom.
We currently do not have an auto repair video on that particular repair. You may be able to apply some of the basic steps that need to be taken to the rear door.
I had a hard time putting the lock in but what I did was put the bottom part in first and had it at an angle towards me while putting the lock mechanism on
should be the same on my 06 sierra crew cab right? Good video. I'm always afraid of tugging on things I think will snap off... but are screwed on by some hidden screw!
@sdrew2 Your right I just snaped the front screw tab , also the second screw holding the door in is located behind the door lock assembley, great vid though...!!
Where can I purchase the clips? My master panel will not lock in place as the small white piece is broken. I don’t know what the name of the piece is called.
this is an 02 Yukon. 03 - 07 you DON"T pry up on the window switch bezel. Doing so will break it. there is a screw holding it in front. you have to reach under and undo the wires. Also 03 and up has one more bolt behind the lock rod.... all else is the same!
Great video however don't use a screw driver. They have kits with plastic tools that helps without leaving a scratch. Check any auto zone, auto parts. Car Place.
My speaker or woofer has come loose and hanging inside the "mesh" speaker cover. Can I pry the mesh off the door panel to access the speakers without removing the whole door panel? Thanks!!
I have a question I have a 2001 gmc yukon xl 1500 slt mine does not have the memory or heat switch I was wondering if mine has a way to add or if the wiring is there and also my front seats are leather with the Manuel lumbar and recline and only powered forward and back I was also wondering if a fully powered seat from a 00/02 work and plug and play
You said in the video good for a '99 - 2003 GMC/Chevy Truck or Suburban.... but my door panel on my 1999 GMC Suburban DOES NOT look like this door panel. It's an SLT. Are the bolts in similar places?
We have a door pin replacement video but not one such as this. If you're able to unbolt the hinges from the body, you could scribe a line around the hinge before you remove it. Then you could put them back in the right location and the door should line up for you. Hope this helps out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for the video. At 4:15 looking at the the upper portion of the inside door the 3 white plastic clips that the rod for the door lock, I need to purchase them and can't find them anywhere. Does 1A Auto sell them? Thanks.
I have a 03 Silverado SS and the piece that holds all the window and lock buttons keeps sliding out and it seems like the white piece of plastic that it clips in to has broken off on the door panel. Is there a way to fix this?
i tried this on a 2003 silverado. needed to remove the control panel to access wires for the door lock/unlock. turns out there's a screw holding that control panel in place from the inside of the door panel. i ended up breaking that clip. wish i had held out for a video for the silverado instead of settling with the tahoe video. if u have an 03 silverado, remove the whole door panel first so you can get to the screw securing the control panel in place.
Hey a week ago my outside door handle broke off of my 99 GMC Sierra so I ordered the piece but now my inside door handle won’t open I pull and pull no luck pretty much gotta get out through my passenger side
+Frost Acevedo You may want to take the door panel back off to see if a rod has fallen off of the door handle causing the door handle to not function correctly. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
How do I remove the side A pillar (drivers side) on a chevrolet silverado 2500hd crew cab? (I need to tuck a cord from a bully dog performance chip behind it.) The current installation is causing windnoise. (I believe it is called an A pillar. It is the piece that some aftermarket make to install gauges.)
HI Craig, We currently do not have an auto repair video on this particular repair. Usually there are a some trim screws that hold these in place, you may have one at the top and one at the bottom. If there aren't any visible screws, there may be some type of a clip that helps them in place. Thanks for asking. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
I searched it on the web you gave me but i couldnt find the armrest or doorpull.Do you know any other store that can sell this part? Thanks in advanced

So simple yet if I hadn't have watched this I would have probably broke something before figuring it out! Thanks for making it simple!!!
I've had a window off it's track for weeks. Because of this video I'm fixing it TODAY! Thanks a ton.
Thanks for this very useful and helpful video. My 02 GMC 2500 has needed new speakers for about 18 years.
WARNING IF your truck has the window switches that you pull up on (2003 later) to put the windows up then you remove the door panel and then unplug the switches from behind. The switch panel does not pop off like this video.
Thank you, I watched the video and went out and removed the door panel in about five minutes! Good job!

Another excellent video !! Keep up the great work guys, very helpful for us back yard mechanics .Thanks
Great video! Saved hundred$ when I had to replace two window regulators. Thank you
Thank u soo much! My window fell into the door n I thought I was screwed but I did your steps and fixed it myself without taking to a shop!! Thank you soo much !

Thanks for sharing this. I had the panel off the drivers door once before, but had forgot about the lift up part. Like that better than those plastic press in and rip out things.
I really enjoy the videos you guys post. Will recommend your company to my friends.
This the exact same way for 2002 Escalade. Video was helpful
Thx dude - crucially you showed me how to put the panel back on.....
@MrTerry2nd If there isn't a screw on the front of the lens that holds it into place, you would need to remove the door panel as shown in the video. Then you should be able to access it from the back of the door panel.
@smallblock283 LOL tough critic. It will definitely show you that there is potential to drop stuff. Make sure you keep track of it all for reassembly.
This was awesome. Now I know I can replace my door speakers in my 2002 Silverado with a lot more confidence. Thank you so much.. LOU Boston

@Pachyderm12 You would need to take the door panel off so that you can screw it back into the door.
Great Video, I had to replace the speaker in my 2000 Sierra. Easiest Iever took a door panel off.
Dont do this. The door window control module DOES NOT POP OUT. The front of it is screwed in. If you pry it, it will break the plastic post. 2003 Tahoe LT.
Correct!!!!! He is working on a 02 or very early 03 as he mentioned 03 Yukon; however, it looks like an 02.
Most of these are already broken from wear and vibration
This is a yukon not a tahoe...
@Cousinorange Currently we do not have a repair video that shows this procedure. It may be held in with a couple of screws and/or push pins to hold it in place. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help man couldn't find that second bolt be hind the handle😂
If there aren't any screws that hold it in place, you may need to remove the panel to access the bulbs.
Great video; included all the sticky details like which way to push the parts so you do not break the plastic...thanks.
+Thomas Jordan You're welcome. Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com
This was very helpful! Only difference n my 06 Sierra was one star screw.
The 1999 was the change over year for the body styling. This is for vehicles without the 5.7L
2003 Tahoe is different. Cannot remove window control panel until door panel is removed - unless you want to break both clips - one secured by a bolt/screw - do it from the inside. I only found one 7mm bolt, not two. Perhaps my door had been removed before.
@usctrojansdoug No, that is the older body style, we do have a video for that.

@ediboyzee Yes it should be the same on your vehicle.
@CLUBDUBCITY Yes, same procedure
Keep up the good work
Great video! ... Do I need to pull the door panel to replace the door speakers?
@sdrew2 Your right I just snaped the front screw tab , also the second screw holding the door in is located behind the door lock assembley, great vid though...!!
Where can I purchase the clips? My master panel will not lock in place as the small white piece is broken. I don’t know what the name of the piece is called.
Unfortunately I believe that bracket is part of the door paneling.
Great video, thanks again

@warreng30 Very similar yes
Is the operation the same for the rear passenger doors?
Great video however don't use a screw driver. They have kits with plastic tools that helps without leaving a scratch. Check any auto zone, auto parts. Car Place.
@deadly107 Yes
My speaker or woofer has come loose and hanging inside the "mesh" speaker cover. Can I pry the mesh off the door panel to access the speakers without removing the whole door panel? Thanks!!
Thanks for that... but what do you do when the window broke and someone raised it too high and now the glass clamps and cables are loose?
Do you have a video on how to remove the rear driver door?

+Don ellis Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
great video!
My Silverado is an 02, and it has that bottom bolt. This video rules. Too easy and no plastic clips to replace.

Thank you for this video!

How do you replace the bulb on the door panel light? I own a '99 silverado and the bulb is burned out. Thanks

Super helpful! Thank you.

I broke 2 door parts clips using this video. There is not enough detail to remove items properly.
this was nothing like my 1999 Yukon SLT..
