    My daily dose of cuteness 🥰 Squeaky and Mr Snuggles are so hilarious. They really were showing you they wanted their yum yums right there. They are so precious. The narration makes it funny as well.
    One week left!!🥳 HATCH DAY!!

      Hi Janelle, You are so kind. :-) I also find those two the funniest of the bunch, and sometimes Precious is too. The quirkier the hen, the funnier the personality and the more insistent of getting their yum yums it seems! Tiem just flies - I cannot beleive it takes just 3 weeks for chicks to hatch. Have a great day!

      Hi Darren, great to hear from you all the way over in Australia. So glad you are enjoying the videos. I like to put some of what feisty little thoughts I'm sure must be going on in their heads onto the videos :-)
      Seramas originate in Malaysia - are you sure there are none in Australia? I know that America has them because a breeder specifically took them over there and I assume the same happened here in UK. Maybe it is worth checking some serama facebook groups to see if anyone has done the same in australia and might be willing to sell? Then again, different countries have different poultry laws and so it might be more difficult to get them where you are.
      Good to hear from you. Have a great day.

    I LOVE your channel!!🐣🐔🐓 I had Bantams years ago, they are SO wonderful.... because of all the great close up filming you do.. it's very hard to tell they are pretty small chickens, compared to full size... if you can take more long shots, when they are next to items that help show their smaller size, it would be nice... like when Mr. Snuggles was on your white wrought iron table.. I could see his actual small miniature size better.. thank you, so enjoying all videos!!!

      Hi DD, so glad you enjoy my channel 😊😊 Keeping chickens really is so amusing and bantams are so cute - gad you got a chance to enjoy them. That is a great point about not being able to tell how small they are. I think I got used to their tiny size so this did not occur to me. I will see what I can do about shots which show their little size in future. Appreciate you pointing this out 😊😊 All the best.

I love that she has grown into such a bit personality now. :-)

      Hi Cornish, I am always wondering quite what that 'paso doble' shuffle means with mine. I try to never let Mr Snuggles peck because then it gets worse and worse, like a toddler testing his limits. I either pick him up or make him bow his head so that he knows I am dominant in the pecking order. lol. He makes me laugh. Thanks for your video. I just checked it out :-) He is such a sweet rooster!

    Is that extra blue box a planter fastened into side of henhouse please?

    • @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266
      @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jane, a planter would have been a perfect idea but I didnt have time to find one that fit. This was more of a DIY planter made from heavy duty cardboard crates with a couple of layers of tarp fastened on top. Once it had the woodchip bedding in, it was heavy enough to sit there itself. If you get a planter that doesnt quite fit, you could probably drill a few holes in it then attach it in place with extra long zip ties - they are very strong. The only thing to note is that your chickens may take to roosting on it overnight! They seem to enjoy finding the highest possible spot to roost, and for us, this was it in their enclosure. They're so funny - one side of the box was about an inch higher than the other side and they all wanted to roost on the higher side. Pecking order dramatics!

    Hi! Can you show me what kind of waterer you will get ? My serama’s chabo eggs hatch on Tuesday and I need a new system also as the bottle caps need to be cleaned several times a day ! Also what are you doing with the eggs you are collecting from squeak and Lulu ?

    • @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266
      @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bhaar, I had a look online and couldnt find a waterer I liked. I have decided to use shallow dishes with pebbles in them to stop the chicks from accidentally being submerged. I think hopefully they should be fine with that system while still tiny. (You'll see in a future video.) I will not get a special waterer because we do not hatch chicks often enough, but I have seen a drip-watering system you might like here: instagram.com/p/CKf2E1DAHht/? . Search for user quailenthusiast on instagram and maybe you can message him to get details of the watering system he uses? (instagram.com/quailenthusiast/) Hope you find something you like.

    I think better not to candle the eggs. One day after hatching, candle that less developed egg. If it needed a few more days then put it in an incubator.

    • @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266
      @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sam, thanks for the suggestion. I don't have an incubator - I never planned to hatch eggs until my chickens went broody. My mum, who grew up raising chickens, also recommends not handling the eggs too much, but I have found that it has not caused any issues. This time just 3 candlings for this batch, but I think I did more than that with Artemis's eggs and they were fine. It depends on the temperament of the hen, and also not wanitng to contaminate or breaking the eggs of course. I like to check inside to ensure that if any of the embryos dies, the egg doesnt go rotten on the nest. I know hens can deal with this themselves by pushing out a rotten egg, but with my nesting box that might be hard for them to do. Plus my little broodies dont mind so much. They are well settled and happy.
      Do you also keep chickens? Thanks for being concerned and the advice, and have a great day!

    • @MeysamShojaeeNejad
      @MeysamShojaeeNejad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 I used to keep chickens in the past. I had built my own incubator, which wasn't that difficult by using a thermostat and a 100w lamp.
      Hope the eggs all hatch at one day, but if doesn't happen, maybe one hen can take care of the less developed eggs and the other hen takes care of the hatchlings.
