I can't wait :) Thanks for showing them off, for such silly birds, there's a definite lack of well produced Serama videos on youtube.

This is a great channel. Hoping for the best for Defiance. (I had a finch which got caught in one of its toys, snapping its leg. The vet just snipped off the leg. The little finch lived for several more years. So you never know.)
Thank you! So glad you enjoy the videos. And thanks for your good wishes for Defiance. How amazing that your finch did so well after her injury. That is wonderful to hear. We'll do our best for Defiance. She is very slow to grow, so I am hoping she will reach a better size and not have problems with egg-laying in future. And also be strong enough to manage life in the flock without always needing to be separated. Fingers crossed! Wishing you all the best!
I'm so happy that Defiance is doing well. You'll have to be her mum and protect her from the other chickens. You tried to integrate her but she's safer with you and trusts you confidentially to protect her. You're a very good mum💓💓🐓🐓🐔🐔
Aw, I'm sorry that happened with your chicks. You never can tell what will upset a hen. i hope your chicks were okay in the end. Precious got so upset when I tried to re-introduce Defiance and bro that I think it was one of the things that made her decide she was done being a mom. Poor thing!

Would be nice to see some new footage. you have been keeping us on a suspense. Not cool at all. We love your little ones. The life of your serama is such a nice break between work. New footage R.K!!!!
Aaw, thanks for your comment and for missing the chickens and caring for Defiance. I just posted a new update video, and you can see how she is getting along there. (Reason for my delay is in the video description.) Hope you enjoy it and you take care
Omg they are so adorable 🥰 sad that precious is done being a mom :( but glad that Sweet pea still is. She such a good mommy! And love how chick 5 is protecting defiance! Hopefully sqeak stays broody.
Thanks Sarah for your lovely comment. Thank goodness for Sweet Pea. I guess Precious being such a nervous mom, she found it difficult to handle the pressure 😂 It's a hard life being a mom, the poor thing! Maybe if she didnt know Sweet Pea was there to mother them she might have done her job for longer. Have a great day.
Thanks! She has such an interesting personality - very contrary. She loves Mr Snuggles, doesn't love cuddles from a human unless she is in the right mood (very rare) and is much feistier than usual when she is broody! She really is so cute. Makes me laugh.
Here's something I found out with regards to getting babies to try new foods, if I make the noise that the moms make when they find food it makes the babies come running to the food and try it! Most times they liked it but once or twice they have not liked what I offered 😇
Hi Kylie, sorry I'm seeing your comment late. I havent been on youtube for a while. Thanks for posting a video idea. I may be able to do this one day, but right now they don't have a regular set routine. It depends on what is happening in the flock at that point in time and the weather, which is so variable in the uk. For example, I am keeping our 'teenage' chicks seprated from the adults right now (see latest video posted today), and also keeping Mr Snuggles separated from the hens right now for various reasons. They have enough space in their runs to run around, but prefer to be out in the garden, so when the weather is good I let them out for as long as possible in separate areas and give them a few food sources since some of them have a tussle over the food and I want to make sure the weaker ones get their share too. Thanks for watching and beign intereted. All the best.
Hi Ana, THanks for watching and for waiting so patiently. I just posted an update video today. I hope you enjoy watching it. My reasons for delay are in my desciption section of that video - I know a lot of people have been wanting to see what has happened with the flock and Defiance. I hope your chicks were okay after thier mom gave up on them. Luckily mine had 2 moms, one who stayed with them a little longer. I do wonder sometimes if more nervous hen moms give up on their babies more quickly. What is your cochin like? Also, I wondered if it was because I was interacting with their babies a lot so they thought the babies would be fine. I am hoping next time I will make sure the mom and baby bond stays strong by not feeding the chicks myself, but it is so hard to resist checking on them when they are such cute little tinies!
With me they would always lie around the side of the loft warm against each other while the mother kept them at a distance quite sad in the beginning, but as time went by they became completely for themselves after 3 days and with extra attention and snacks and hugs all was well again. The mother was already lowest in the pecking order but she was not scared or anything she was just done with it and wanted to go to the next round but that was not allowed for a while but now she is happy again for her on a nest of 9 eggs
@@Johan.V10 Glad to know the babies were fine. I bet they became your best friends very quickly once they realised you were the only parent left! 🙂 Good luck with your new hatch!
I hope all the baby's are doing okay and that there feeling safe around sweet pea and Defiance is strong but just might need the help through out her days of being alive
With your next lot of eggs for hatching you need to test them with a magnet on string or a crystal on string swing it above each egg if the magnet swings back & forth over the egg it will most likely hatch a cockerel but if the magnet swings in a circle above the egg it's more likely to hatch a hen give it a go only put the circle swinging eggs under your hen which will help increase the number of hens hatching rather then getting mainly cockerels 🤞🏻
Hi Ali, how amazing it would be to be able to predict if unhatched eggs are male or female! I read that in birds, the chromosome that determines gender comes from the females rather than the males. i wondered if maybe Sweet Pea and Precious are more likely to be boy-moms, since their eggs gave us 5/6 males! The next batch of eggs are not theirs so fingers crossed for more females. Have a wonderful day.
I have used this method & hatched out 4 female chicks it's certainly worth trying 👍🏻 best of luck with all your birds & hope defients keeps battling on.
@@ducky3229 That is amazing! Were there any roosters in your hatch? I might give it a try in future. Our current hatch is done. I will show results in the next couple of updates videos. All the best.
No there was only hens in the hatched eggs no cockerels it's certainly worth you trying it in the future all the best with your birds & I love the videos 👍🏻😊
Hi Harvey, thanks for wondering about her. She is doing well - maybe better than expected in some ways - you can see her update in the new video I posted today. She has come a long way since the days when I had to hand feed her and was worried she might now make it. Phew! Thankfully she has a strong spirit. Take care

I hope your hen and chicks are doing well. Bantam mamas and their babies are just so absolutely adorable! You are right about nearly all of them being cokerels - I couldnt believe it and kept hoping it wasnt true. Lol. They are all crowing now! Fingers crossed for pullets in the next batch, as you say. Thanks for your kind words! Have a wonderful day!
HI Kylie, it does take a few days for the broodiness hormones to go away, so yes Lulu was still trying to get back into the nest back then. But luckily she was also spending some time with Mr Snuggles in the garden too.
Hey Monika, sorry I've been away for so long and thanks for waiting so patiently. I just posted an update video today. I hope you enjoy watching it, and hope you and your family have been keeping well. Comments about my delay are in that video's description. Have a great day x

Hi, thanks for being concerned about Defiance. She injured herself when she hatched (I think) and so has a disabled leg. It was painful for her for a while, but I'm glad to say she is now pain-free and doing much better. She was nervous about being outdoors with all the other chickens, and so closed her eyes a lot. However this was part of a necessary step to introduce her to life outdoors so that she can one day live a fuller life among the flock. Don't worry - I always keep an especially close eye on her.
I've had some horrible results doing this, reintroducing chicks to mums. Some great ones too. Mostly bad though. But when it went bad, oh it was horrible. 😭 I have also had moms start rejecting their babies after a couple of weeks and sometimes after I reintroduced their other chicks. They just start packing everyone all of a sudden and I have to pull all of the chicks from her permanently.
Thanks for letting me know. Have you ever had hens be good moms one time but then attack chicks or give up on them early in future hatches? I was wondering if they stay consistent over time. I think Precious had the same reaction as you describe - she got upset by the introduced chicks then started pecking her own ones, and then went off being a mom in the next couple of days. The next time she hatched chicks she stayed being a mom a couple of weeks longer.
In hindsight I can see it is the case too - their combs had turned pink - but I kept hoping one of them (Chick Three) might be a girl because the comb was slowest to develop. They are all crowing now. Definately roosters!
Hi Harvey, when works gets stressful sadly I do not have time for videos. i had been filming them all along, but the editting takes many many hours. If only I could spend more time making these videos, i would love it! However I can tell you that so long as people like yourself are still enjoying these videos, I will always post an update so long as I am able. I know some people have gotten attached and really value them all. Take care now
I kept hoping for so long that her buddy would be a girl! Then I read somewhere that both girls' and boys' combs might grow, but boys' combs will go pink/red sooner. And even then I kept hoping. Lol!
Chick 5 is indeed a rooster.. i think you got 2-3 rooster to be in there. Precious can detect that defiance got some issues that’s why she dont want to accept her. That’s the sad reality in animal kingdom when mother noticed something odd with her children she will surely neglect or tries to kill them for her other children to survive more… try re-introducing them at night time they will surely accept them.
Hi Steve, thanks for your thoughtful advice. I was too worried about what might happen to them if I left them with the moms overnight because the chicks were quite old - in my heart I knew 3 weeks might be too old, but I thought it was worth trying. And you are right - most of the babies are roosters! Eek! I hope to be able to rehome them. Have a great day.
I don't have one right now. May be in future. I see so many wonderful chicken keepers on there (like Mad4hens - she's one of my faves) - so I really must try to get onto there one day. All the best.
Thanks for waiting patiently. A new update was posted today. Sadly sometimes my work gets very busy and stressful and that has to take priority. (Gotta earn a living!) But I'm so glad you all enjoy watching the videos whenever I'm able to upload them. Take care
Aw, I was also torn about whether to let Lulu or Squeak be a mom. Lulu had never been broody before and I was too worried that she might not last til hatch or might be more of a nervous mom. You never know what the right decision is until you give them a chance, but I also did not want two hens hatching separate broods of babies at the same times. I dont have the capacity to separate the moms after the babies hatch, which could have meant they might kill each others babies afterwards. It was different with Precious and Sweet PEa because they were sisters and were willing to sit on the same nest, so I hoped they would co-parent.
Yes, that was probably part of the issue. In the early days Precious did try to take care of Defiance, even with her leg problem. I was hopeful, but I think it was also too long of a separation. I thought it was worth trying. Never mind! All the best.
@@naturallifes1734 Hi Varshith, new update video was posted today. Thanks so much for caring and watching my little flock. I hope you're keeping well :-)
Hi Varshith, thanks for caring. I'd have loved if Sweet Pea would have taken them, but they were too young to be left with her because they may not have gone to her for warmth etc, and they were too young to be outdoors without a heatlamp. And Defiance with her disbaled leg would have been especially vulnerable to bullying. My plans were to reintroduce them to the flock once Defiance was stronger and fully feathered - I'll give updtaes on this situation in future videos. All the best.
If a momma chicken starts to peck her babies that means that she's tried of staying with them and is really to abandon them . They'll start to abandon them as early as 4 weeks. If sweetpea starts to peck the babies she's likely to go unbrody and kill them .
Hi Ana, thanks. Have you ever had unbroody moms killing thier chicks? I thought they just pecked them and chased them away. Luckily our babies are fine.
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 Yes I have had an unbroody hen kill the chicks. Thankfully yours are fine, be on the look out if sweetpea goes unbroody. If she continues to show little interest and won't let them lay under her that's a sign. I'm just trying to warn you because I know some hens will kill their chicks after going unbroody. By the way how is squeaky doing sitting?
@@anaprice2769 Thanks for letting me know. Seems such a shame after all the hard work to them kill their own chicks. Mine got into some bother with their mums after the mums gave up on them. I didnt want to spoil it for anyone reading through the comments....

Great to hear from you Morris, and thanks for always watching and for your lovely comment. i posted a new update today. Such great news about your chicks - I hope they are all doing well, and that you got plenty of females (unlike my hatches!) Are both mother hens getting along with each other?
These babies are so cute, I've been watching your flock for months now, finally got the greenlight to pick up some Serama eggs that'll arrive this week and go under our always broody silkie.
I can't wait :) Thanks for showing them off, for such silly birds, there's a definite lack of well produced Serama videos on youtube.
Hi, great to hear from you and so glad you're enjoying the videos. Good luck with your serama hatch - very exciting. And it'll be great for them to have a silkie mama to introduce them to the flock. They are so incredibly tiny when hatched! And such smart little birds right from the very first day. Fingers crossed your hatch goes well! I bet it'll be so adorable to see those tiny little babies with their silkie mama 💓🐓
Mrs R.K., I just discovered your lovely channel while you were on hiatus. I caught up on all the videos and fell in love with your beautiful flock and your warm, wonderful and witty commentary. You are such a loving chicken mama. I was relieved when you were back with the latest instalment. I look forward to following the future escapades of all these darling chickens. Warm wishes from Canada. 🇨🇦
How wonderful to hear from you and thanks for your kind words! It means a lot. I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos and getting to know our little flock. They have such endless dramas, and I'm sure they'll have somethign interesting for you in their next video 😂 😊 Sending you my best wishes. Have a wonderful day.
Welcome back, you really disappeared for a while!
Aw, I'm back here again, and i guess you do disappear often huh, hope you're okay!
Cute Chicks 😍 my baby chicks were born in May this Year and they are soo big , fluffy and nice to me . Great to see this evolvement from you :)))
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the update on the flock. I hope your chicks are doing well. They must be nearly grown now? I bet they love you because you are good to them! Take care
Thanks to God Finally u back. I missed your Chickens so much. I used to watch your channel regularly whether i missed it or not...
But thanks. Please keep updating. Lots of love for all the sweet chickens❤❤❤❤
Hi Monika, I'm so glad you enjoyed the update and I will post another when I can. I have lots of footaeof the chicks growing to go through. How fast they grow up. Sending you my best wishes and see you in the next video! All the best.

Thinking of you and your serama family. :) I wonder how many roosters you ended up with?
Thank you! As to the question of roosters - OMG is all I can say. Aha. I answered your question in the new video I posted today. (Not sure if you want me to spoil it for you in these comments.) Hope you enjoy watching! All the best
Aw, thanks! 😊 I hope when she is big enough she will be happy with her chicken buddies too. Fingers crossed. Have a great day
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 💓💓💓🐓🐓🐓🐔🐔🐔
So glad to see the little family doing well! My broody started attacking her babies when they got their first feathers.
Aw, I'm sorry that happened with your chicks. You never can tell what will upset a hen. i hope your chicks were okay in the end. Precious got so upset when I tried to re-introduce Defiance and bro that I think it was one of the things that made her decide she was done being a mom. Poor thing!
Very cute
Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you tell us what happened to Defiance, you owe us like four month of filming??? little defiance might be big, I hope she did not remain handicapped.
What state are you at.
And nice seramas.
Thanks. I'm in England.
And I like precious she is cure
Yayy I have been looking forward to this 😁 glad your back 😊
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed it. Have a great day
Can you make a nether video and show us the routine for the chickens
See ya later pretty lil' Gemma the gem 🥰
Aw they grow up so fast, but get cuter every day! 💖 Marzipan could be a cute name for one 😊
Marzipan is a sweet name! They really do grow too fast. So many cute moments gone by too quickly! Have a great day
When will you be posting more videos?
Hi Ana, THanks for watching and for waiting so patiently. I just posted an update video today. I hope you enjoy watching it. My reasons for delay are in my desciption section of that video - I know a lot of people have been wanting to see what has happened with the flock and Defiance. Appreciate you coming back to find out and wishing you all the best. Have a great day
Pls give update. I m missing them
Thanks Monika. Sorry it's been so long, and I did think of you when my video had been so delayed. I'm so glad you enjoy watching. Take care

Mine cochin bantam did not want here baby’s when they where also 4 weeks old. She is now on a new nest👍👍👍
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 So true to everything you said!
How is defiance???
Hi Harvey, thanks for wondering about her. She is doing well - maybe better than expected in some ways - you can see her update in the new video I posted today. She has come a long way since the days when I had to hand feed her and was worried she might now make it. Phew! Thankfully she has a strong spirit. Take care
I love to watch your videos, I have a bantam hen with her own babies right now :D And I believe you do have 4 precious cockerels, sad you can't keep them all! They're so cute :')) I hope you get more pullets with Squeaky/Lulu's batch
Is lulu still broody
HI Kylie, it does take a few days for the broodiness hormones to go away, so yes Lulu was still trying to get back into the nest back then. But luckily she was also spending some time with Mr Snuggles in the garden too.
Hey pls give update of the chickens
Hey Monika, sorry I've been away for so long and thanks for waiting so patiently. I just posted an update video today. I hope you enjoy watching it, and hope you and your family have been keeping well. Comments about my delay are in that video's description. Have a great day x

Defiance looks ill you better take a closer look and help her
Hi, thanks for being concerned about Defiance.
New video ???
Done 🙂
💕💕🐣🐣🤗
Thanks
The 4 baby chicks with sweet pea are roosters
In hindsight I can see it is the case too - their combs had turned pink - but I kept hoping one of them (Chick Three) might be a girl because the comb was slowest to develop. They are all crowing now. Definately roosters!
Hey pls give update
Done :-)

Where is the new video .I am eagerly waiting for your video ......Pls upload quickly 🙏🙏
Aw, thanks for waiting. new update was today and I hope you enjoy watching.
You take a long time to post new videos do you? How is the sick chick doing?
Hi Harvey, when works gets stressful sadly I do not have time for videos. i had been filming them all along, but the editting takes many many hours. If only I could spend more time making these videos, i would love it! However I can tell you that so long as people like yourself are still enjoying these videos, I will always post an update so long as I am able. I know some people have gotten attached and really value them all. Take care now
Defiance is definitely a girl but her friend is definitely a pretty Boy
I kept hoping for so long that her buddy would be a girl! Then I read somewhere that both girls' and boys' combs might grow, but boys' combs will go pink/red sooner. And even then I kept hoping. Lol!
Chick 5 is indeed a rooster.. i think you got 2-3 rooster to be in there. Precious can detect that defiance got some issues that’s why she dont want to accept her. That’s the sad reality in animal kingdom when mother noticed something odd with her children she will surely neglect or tries to kill them for her other children to survive more…
try re-introducing them at night time they will surely accept them.
Have you a instagram?
I don't have one right now. May be in future. I see so many wonderful chicken keepers on there (like Mad4hens - she's one of my faves) - so I really must try to get onto there one day. All the best.
She haven’t been posting for 2 months the hell
Thanks for waiting patiently. A new update was posted today. Sadly sometimes my work gets very busy and stressful and that has to take priority. (Gotta earn a living!) But I'm so glad you all enjoy watching the videos whenever I'm able to upload them. Take care
Give some eggs to Lulu to hatch
Aw, I was also torn about whether to let Lulu or Squeak be a mom. Lulu had never been broody before and I was too worried that she might not last til hatch or might be more of a nervous mom. You never know what the right decision is until you give them a chance, but I also did not want two hens hatching separate broods of babies at the same times. I dont have the capacity to separate the moms after the babies hatch, which could have meant they might kill each others babies afterwards. It was different with Precious and Sweet PEa because they were sisters and were willing to sit on the same nest, so I hoped they would co-parent.
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 oo ok .Do whatever it will be all right .Many many good wish for your hens ☺️☺️☺️

Update done! Thanks fo much for watching and waiting patiently. You girls and guys really are the best.
Update done. Enjoy!
They reject the weak chick, inoder for healthier to survive, sadly normal in animal world
Yes, that was probably part of the issue.

I hope you're keeping well :-)
Leave the 2 chicks with sweetpea she is not peacking
(i think it was their mums who pecked them anyway - I wasnt there when it happened) but fortunately all were okay. More updates on Squeaky in the next video.
