Many hatchlings stories on TH-cam are simply about very healthy chicks. But the real world is not 'perfect'. I hope the weak chick gets stronger day by day. But I still think there can be some other ways to heal her right leg. I am thinking of using a paper clip wire which is bent to a right angle and being wrapped to the chick's leg for a while to help the leg being in the right place.

Yeah I had a chick that had poo on her bum and I cleaned it off. The next day it was stuck again. I did the same thing with a warm watered napkin for a week and finally it was gone! 😊 hope it’s gone soon and hope the sick chick gets better 🙂
Hi Starkiller, Artemis passed away ealier this year. It was very sudden and such a shock and I was very sad to lose her. She was such a special hen. Thanks for thinking of her.
Hi Ava - so sorry for the delay getting back to you. (I had to take a break from yourtube for a while due to burnout and am only now seeing your comment.) Did you end up letting your hen incubate the two eggs? I would have said sure, why not. If the hen is happy to sit on two and you are happy that you may only get one or two chicks, or even none, then you can go ahead. The only risk would be that she might incubate the eggs for three weeks but no babies would hatch and then it might be hard to break her broodiness. Some people might say that it is a waste of time/effort for the hen to only hatch two eggs, but it entirely depends on what you want the outcome to be. And i have seen peoples' hens who are happy to only have one little chick to look after. Would love to hear what you decided in the end. All the best.
Maybe Defiance might benefit from some physical therapy. Check out a channel Opry Hill on TH-cam on splayed/straddle leg chick and how she rehabilitate her chick. It might give you some ideas.
Hi Tanish, thanks for getting in touch and asking. That's nice of you. I'm well and hope you are too? I had to take an unexpected break due to so much work and burnout. I have finally managed to do an update for you all and posted it just now. I hope you enjoy it. Have a wonderful day! th-cam.com/video/3KyLxqQUhyg/w-d-xo.html
Hi Varshith, I was trying to break their broodiness. You can see that in my latest video! They were being very grumpy about it, the poor hens! But very cute.
Some unasked for help ... (you’re doing great by the way). Pasty butt? She’s too cold. Increase temp. Add plain yogurt mixed with corn meal and feed this to them. That should eradicate pasty butt. Fantastic you’ve got sister chick in with her..that’s truly going to make a huge difference. Chickens are pack animals and get depressed (and stressed) when alone. 👍🏻 Here’s where I’m super concerned... She’s getting tired most likely because she’s not eating enough. You absolutely can buy her time for full recovery by hand feeding her baby parrot food. You can get it at most pet store or even online. Amazon UK might even have it but it may not be fresh so I’m not sure if you have a big box pet store near you? They typically carry it. Get some ASAP. Follow the directions on the container. Get a small 3cc needle-ness syringe and fill it up with the baby parrot feed mixed with water (pedialyte might be better choice to get electrolytes in her. Sugar water is good for initial perks, but not long time chronic issues) so that it’s mushy, not liquidy and not too dry (warm water, not cold or hot) and open her beak and put some in. Small Drop by drop. Wait till she swallows it all completely. Go SLOW. Don’t put it in the back of the mouth, she could aspirate. That’s the danger with hand feeding other than burning the crop with too hot of water. (You can also chill a chick by using too cold mush too). Front to middle of the beak is best and she should swallow on her own if she’s hungry. If she does not or shakes the food out...she’s certainly in pain then. Keep trying none the less. Do this at the top of the hour or every two hours- maybe 1 cc or 1/2 cc of baby parrot ‘mush’, drop by drop. Her energy levels will increase and so will her chances of recovery. How much she eats will change as she gets older, so be aware of that too. As she grows she will need more. I’d be willing to bet shes not eating because she’s in pain but it’s imperative she gets hand fed. She will just quickly lose energy and be stressed. The less she eats the more weak she’s going to get, the more stress..then crash. Yes, it seems like it’s her hip, but even if she grows up with it all funky it can be reset later with vet help when she’s stronger, so that’s not quite the issue at hand for right now. Getting plenty of sustenance and keeping low stress is. I’d keep the splint on. Baby chick bones are soft and can be molded back into place easier. If all goes well she should be walking fine in 3 to 4 weeks if not sooner. So I want to reassure you, this is absolutely survivable and able to be remedied and I know this can be stressful for you, but I’m trying to encourage you. I do know you can give aspirin for pain, but I have no idea about British regular dosages (assuming you are in the UK) in comparison to usual dosage of US (where I’m at). Too much aspirin will sedate her and possibly kill her. I’ve used 1/4th a baby aspirin for regular sized hens...so baby serama chick would be much much smaller amount. Maybe check with a vet or local wildlife rehabilitation center for ideas on dosage, but if they don’t know, I’d skip it. You don’t have to give aspirin, but it may help her be less stressed and stress alone can kill baby chicks, I hate to say. So please consider what I’m saying here. I have 10 years experience of taking care of chicks and I want to say you’re doing a wonderful job with her, but I know you’re wanting to have her pull through. I apologize profusely if I come across as rude for saying all this, but I love chickens and want to help if I can. I’ve dealt with this so many times and I can see she needs to eat more before she starts slipping. She is making good progress though. Absolutely sending you and her best wishes to get through this. ❤️
Just need to correct myself. If you use pedialyte instead of water for the baby parrot feed, I’m not sure it should be anything more than a drop or two mixed in with water and the baby parrot feed. Too much electrolytes wouldn’t be good either. Just the nutritional baby parrot feed should be sufficient alone.
Hi Son Of Hibbs - thanks for this wonderful advice. I have saved in in a wrod document for future reference. You have given some suggestions that I didnt even find in the forums at bakyardpoultry and your advice is much appreciated. I can see that you had a much better eye for what was going on with her than I did back them. I am so glad she had pulled through for now, and you were right about her losing energy, which I was also concerned about. I managed to get her to eat some egg yolk, and the nettex poultry nutridrops i got for her definately made a huge difference to her energy levels - thank goodness for them. She suddenly took a sudden turn for the better one day but I was constantly stressed before that. It could have just as easily been a turn for the worse. Your advice is always spot on and I really appreciate the time you've taken and your thoughfulness! Thank you again. Have a wonderful day!
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 you’ve done an absolutely FANTASTIC job with her! I can’t stress this enough!!! No matter what happens, please know that. A little about me..the past 10 + years of my life, it’s basically been dedicated to my chickens and learning about chicken health. Most people aren’t that ‘weird’ (I go extreme..surgeries at the vet’s, daily treatments, spending $$$ etc) so I know a lot, had tons of experience. I’m no expert by any means! I only know about what I’ve treated in my flocks. I do wish and hope for more knowledge on chicken health to be had by the collective chicken owners sharing experiences and trials. I think chickens are such a truly valuable indispensable animal. We take them for granted. All societies are practically well nourished by this one creature, we should hold them in high esteem. Sadly, I don’t think people think much of this truth or hold chickens in esteem at all. Yeah, we eat them, (well, not mine) but even more so, this fact shows the importance we study them and try to provide excellent care. There’s still just not much known about treating various chicken illnesses. I’m really hoping to help that along. That’s why I do what I do. Having said all that, I want to say I was very afraid of coming off as a meddling know-it-all..and even if I am, (which is thoroughly possible) dang it, I love all your sweet chickens and want to help them! I’ll take the accusation if it means something I might say helps them in any way. 🙃😉😊 ❤️ By the way, giving her egg yolk was a much better suggestion than what I said to do! I’m so glad you went for that instead as it’s actually perfect food for them. She really did need it. And just FYI for any viewer, most sick chicks die because they stopped eating, not necessarily from the ailment that’s causing them to not eat. So carefully supplementing them (they can choke easily) with nutrition is paramount for survival, feeding every hour or two (if not eating on their own) I’ve brought back so many little fuzz balls (and grown chickens) on the brink of death just by this alone. They do respond well to love too, along with the extra attention. ❤️Many blessing to you and yours♥️
@@sonofhibbs4425 All the work and learning you are doing with chickens sounds amazing! I know what you mean about most other people not understanding why we find chickens such fascinating creatures worthy of our attention and care. Yes, we may eat them (not our pets though!), but that doesn't mean they dont deserve good, rewarding lives while they are here. One of the reasons I love making and sharing these videos is that it's helped me find kindred spirits online who have also loved their chickens, and some who have lost chickens and are unable to keep them any more and so get joy from watching them online. Nature will take its course and we will do what we can to help 💗💗

To me it looks like Defiance is trying to recover and fighting to have a full life even if she or he has to live indoors as we hope there can be days where Defiance can hang out with Mommy A.K.A Precious
Hi Sonic, I hoped the same as you. I am still making efforts to make sure she will hopefully live a full life among the flock as she gets stronger

Hello Mrs R.K.
This makes me sad,
It seems that her little foot is curling a bit, maybe a splinter under the foot, holding the ankle could help stabilize her better ?
seeking the advice of a vet could be a good idea ? I think another viewer also mentioned it .
Hoping all will go well for the little one .
have a nice evening .
Thank you Louve 💗
What do you feed your chick
Hi Chaniya, I feed them baby chick crumbs mainly. The brand I used is Allen & Page which I get from amazon uk.
Mam what you decide to whom you give all chicks is it precious or sweet pea
Hi Kunal, sorry for the daly getting back to you. I have uploaded an update video - you can see them co-parenting there. Let me know what you think.
From seeing your yesterday video i think both are co operating with each other and they are both a best mom for their chicks
Vet visit time for Defiance would be in order.

Hello, we've been wondering about the Chick and not seen any videos lately, We hope all is well X
Hi Helsteeds - thanks for getting in touch. I was suffering from burnout and found myself unable to post for a while (explanation here th-cam.com/channels/v_X3fqEjynMlctWU6dM6SQ.htmlcommunity). Thanks for being so kind and checking in. I posted an update video and plan to keep updating in future, though nowhere near daily anymore! It is wonderful to hear from you and thank you for your kind words. How are your lovely little roosters doing? Are they still getting along? I was thinking of you both recently when I was struggling to be able to tell if our chicks were roosters or not. it was so much easier to tell for me last time around! Wishing you all the best
We mostly voted to keep the detailed videos but now i for one wish id said do simple ones! I hope the pressure didnt get too much. I bet nobody would mind if you returned with much easier ones.Best wishes and hope everything is ok 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔
Absolutely correct
Hi Jane, I am just getting around to seeing this comment no- thank you for your kind words and suggestion. I may well do some videos that are simpler to edit in future just to keep everyone caught up. I do like doing the thought bubbles as well - sometime it occurs to me the chickens may be thinking some hilarious things. They really are such funny little personalities. Or big personalities I should say, for such tiny creatures! I hope all is well with you as well - have a wonderful day.

@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 i was so wanting you to return at that point! You do the videos however you like of course but thank you ♥️
Are you okay
Hi Sve, thank you for asking. I am good now - I got burned out quite suddenly (explained in a post here th-cam.com/channels/v_X3fqEjynMlctWU6dM6SQ.htmlcommunity) and was not expecting to be away from youtube. Thanks for being concerned. Wishing you all the best.

Aaw, Hi Ninjaking, thank you for caring. You are so kind. I'm sorry for disappaearing on you all for a while - things got very stressful for while after the chicks hatched and with caring for the sick chick. I wrote a comunity post here to explain: th-cam.com/channels/v_X3fqEjynMlctWU6dM6SQ.htmlcommunity . I hope you are doing well. Thanks for being such a loyal viewer. I alway enjoy hearing from you. (I also have posted a new video now with updates.) All the best.
p.s. just saw you hatched your own baby chicks! So exciting! It's great that that last egg hatched - i laughed when you sang happy birthday to the baby - that was great!
Madam what are you doing??? Please upload next video about these cute babies. Please
Hi Aritta, thanks for watching and sorry about the delay. I had to take some essential time off from youtube unexpectedly (explained here: th-cam.com/channels/v_X3fqEjynMlctWU6dM6SQ.htmlcommunity). The new video is up now and I hope you will enjoy it. best wishes.
Yeah I had a chick that had poo on her bum and I cleaned it off. The next day it was stuck again. I did the same thing with a warm watered napkin for a week and finally it was gone! 😊 hope it’s gone soon and hope the sick chick gets better 🙂
So glad your chick was fine. I did the same with mine. I had no idea this was even a problem before i had chicks!

Thanks 💗💗
Mrs R.K where is Artémis ?
Hi Starkiller, Artemis passed away ealier this year. It was very sudden and such a shock and I was very sad to lose her. She was such a special hen. Thanks for thinking of her.
😓 rest in peace Artémis
Need some advice isit ok to let your hen hatch 2 eggs
We waited a week and candled the eggs and they were nothing se we deiced not to let her have chicks she broke out of the brokenness
@@r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266 how is danfice doing love watching your videos
ask a vet to check if there is a problem related to the bones, the problem must be fixed before she grows and get more weight on this leg.
💗
Maybe Defiance might benefit from some physical therapy. Check out a channel Opry Hill on TH-cam on splayed/straddle leg chick and how she rehabilitate her chick. It might give you some ideas.
Hi Arrow's owner, thanks for suggesting opry hill - what a lovely channel, and such a useful video she did.

Show lulu and sqeak nest
Hi Varshith, I was trying to break their broodiness. You can see that in my latest video! They were being very grumpy about it, the poor hens! But very cute.
Some unasked for help ... (you’re doing great by the way). Pasty butt? She’s too cold. Increase temp. Add plain yogurt mixed with corn meal and feed this to them. That should eradicate pasty butt.
Fantastic you’ve got sister chick in with her..that’s truly going to make a huge difference. Chickens are pack animals and get depressed (and stressed) when alone. 👍🏻
Here’s where I’m super concerned...
❤️
By the way, giving her egg yolk was a much better suggestion than what I said to do!
I think that's wonderful. Also, have you discovered the Pavlovafowl channel on youtube? th-cam.com/channels/X1ZrB4FT0mPuxcttCM6ljQ.html I think you may enjoy it. I love watching her videos. Wishing you all the best.
