There's a constant problem nowadays that so many movies think their job is to set up a sequel, when the actual purpose of a first movie in a series is to earn a sequel.
Actually the main job of the first film is supposed to be to just tell a full and complete story (ideally one that’s worth telling). Whether or not it’s successful enough for a sequel doesn’t mean it should get one.
They do some smalltalk but they all come across as a bunch of strangers just trying to lighten the mood but quickly ends up being awkward. Like these guys are ashamed to be with one another
Zack is the worst modern director. His contrived, childish, corny movies only exist, at this point, to provide fuel for TH-cam content creators. 4 movies about *grain* is peak Zack…
The Anthony Hopkins Robot that's probably had less than 30 minutes of Screentime throughout both of these movies has more of a personality and is far more interesting than any of the main characters.
With the extended version of part one, I am more and more convinced that Snyder is physically incapable of trimming down a story or editing video footage.
This is how i imagine AI generated movies to be. Loads of popular cool ideas all mashed together in a way that superficially appears coherent. I guess character emotional development and acting within character are much more difficult for AI to replicate.
When I saw the first movie I thought it actually was an AI generated script. When I finally made it to the credits and saw it was by Zack Snyder I immediately said “Oh, that makes sense.”

I still don't understand how any spacefaring civilisation doesn't have some kinda of decent food production system on their ships, or ships dedicated to creating food. There should very little need for any planet to create food for ships. Even having harvest planets to supply other planets food doesn't make sense unless you are tapping into Stargate technology. Just the technology to put food into statis long enough to be harvested, packed, shipping, unpacked, and then transported to where it needs to be would be insane.
Hollywood movies are so behind for stuff like this. They love the idea of creating civilisations that are very advanced technologically, but they can never expand smartly and interestingly on said technology. Animated movies are way more advanced in that aspect because creators embrace the crazy possibilities such technology could bring. In animated movies (even the ones from 50 years ago), very advanced technologies can allow entire civilisations to create the perfect environment to grow crops no matter the season. That's the kind of things you expect from crazily advanced civilisations. Hollywood writers and directors are so limited in their imagination it's gotten embarrassing at this point. All they can think about is "cool useless effects" or "see through screens that make it so you cannot even see clearly what's going on on the screen."

Can we take a second to acknowledge that the Motherworld's walker tanks are literally almost copy and paste lifted from the video game Destiny? I noticed it when I wasted hours of my life watching this, and sure enough, the tanks look exactly like the Fallen walker tanks in Destiny.
Zach Snyder's overuse of slo-mo really shows that he imitates things he sees in other movies that he thinks look cool, but doesn't understand what those techniques are for. The Purpose of Slow Motion is to show the details of action that would be lost to the audience if played at full speed; so unless the details demand that extra attention, slo-mo just wastes time. Zach Snyder seems to think that if you show something uninteresting in slo-mo, that alone makes it more interesting somehow.
