I also have an EK9, 97-98 model, also known as the Pre Face-lift, got it in 2018, and it's really fun to drive, I'm glad it survive until it reach the Philippine soil without being cut into half.
I am of the younger generation, never grew up drooling over old civics. But when I had my first car, I decided to buy a 95 eg civic sedan and I was in love. Even now that I'm driving a 2011 lancer, I still miss the feeling of daily driving an old civic, even without much performance mods, the analog feel and as you said, the experience, is just something else. Makes me feel like I'm having 2nd hand nostalgia of a car that wasn't even in my childhood fantasies. Been trying to find a decent ek hatch here in the Philippines (that's also within budget) since I really feel like I want back in on old hondas, maybe because I'm still quite young that my body craves for a bit more torture in exchange for fun? 😅
Looks like a really fun drive! That’s awesome you got to drive one I’m so jealous. If I had the chance I would have bought one when I was younger as a daily driver and loved it, and my body would have regretted it 😅
I think as you get older and used to more comfortable cars... cars like this start to become unacceptable as a daily driver; but when you're young and don't know any better I can see that working out haha.
Nice video man. I would love an original ek9. I am building a ej9 (1.4 d series) swapped with ek9 b16b, gearbox and 5 stud conversion. Just got it running. It's a sensation like no other feeling vtec. Just gotta finish it now. Still wouldn't daily it though :)
@@kevinhowley1586 yes I did too. Missing wires, coolant lines, clutch line. Planning to drive it stock with immo defeat for debuging things then will go ported RBC + 80mm throttle + Hondata V4.
Well... Have an EK9 on my garage from 1999 and... It has power steering, a much better steering wheel (Momo) and a very different interior. Don't know where you found that one but it needs some TLC.
The car definitely has had a hard life. It's spent the last few years as a rental car on a car share app so it's definitely rough. I think if it was in good shape the guy wouldn't rent it out. I'd love to try out a pristine one.

I'm glad someone from the younger generation appreciates the character and experience of the older cars =)

Considering the prices EK9s are trading for now, an EJ9 conversion sounds awesome. Enjoy the VTEC magic =)
Same for me but went with a EP3 type R drivetrain and DC2 hubs. Far from 1st startup but I already enjoy the journey.
@@Spark972 hell yeah. Did you dc/eg subframe as well?

Nice job
