So based on the cinematic I saw they basically wiped away that 13 braniac plan by just saying Deathstroke solo'd a bunch of them because he just found a way to travel the multiverse? It isn't really suffering. I've sunk 15 hours into this game when it was on sale for like 4 bucks, and the gameplay is really fun. The performances from the VAs are great, even if the story isn't too good, but even that so far is decent! I know this isn't the game people wanted from Rocksteady, but it definitely isn't nearly as bad as everyone says.

Like with similar games (Concord, Babylon's Fall, etc.), the story behind why SS: KtJL was such a failure on all fronts is way more interesting than anything the game itself tried to do.
First time I did that boss battle, Deathstroke ended up glitching into a wall and was unable to move or attack me so I just unloaded on him and won without trying. Deathstroke went from being the best boss battle in Origins to one of the worst in Knight. Still, I'd take an unholy amalgamation of all the worst elements of the Arkham games over the slop that is SS:KtJL.
It's confirmed the League you kill in game were clones in the update, except for maybe Wonder Woman. So you don't actually even "kill" the Justice League in the game.

I think this game would’ve already been sooo much better if everyone didn’t just have guns. If they just had their own unique weapons. Deadshot with a gun, Captain Boomerang with some crazy boomerangs, King Shark with his fists, harley with Baseball bat and Hammer. And so on. I think that would’ve made it a lot better

That's exactly what's in the game. You do maybe 40% of your damage with guns. A lot of characters offer themselves nicely for melee builds, which use the weapons you mentioned. I just started playing the game after the announcement of it shutting down, and I am _very_ pleasantly surprised. The core gameplay is actually really well designed and hella fun
I still can't get over how after however many hours you've put into the game, the grenade tooltip is still prominently displayed right in the center of the screen.

It's not even worth it playing offline. The story and boss fights still suck and the repetitive missions make the gameplay absolutely mundane. You're better off playing Borderlands if you're going to be playing a looter shooter with an offline mode...
To be fair they said they intended to add it right after release over 9 months ago. It just makes sense to release it once content will no longer be released. It probably took them longer with the skeleton crew left.

I don't like it either, but getting an offline mode at all the best it was ever going to be when the team got quickly reduced to a skelton crew. I'm sure they put it on the backburner to try to get bug fixes and the additional characters pushed out.

When I was younger my family couldn't afford video games that often so I would play the Arkham Asylum demo on 360 over and over. I think in his eyes he could never see the studio that made him feel that way for a demo grow as a studio and fail miserably, because he WANTED SSKTJL to make him feel that same way again.

Not surprising really, just maybe a little it took this long. The writing was on the wall long before this game released. I guess we could argue they tried to make it work but... Recycling the same boss every update clearly showed they had checked out long before this EoS announcement. Samey traversal mechanics for most characters, just animated differently to appear different, also gave off bare effort vibes.
You mention the interest we have in this game and it's something I've been thinking a lot about. This year had some real stinkers, and I find myself weirdly obsessed with them, the same way you would watch a car crash. I bought this on launch week and ended up trading it in after the 1st season. The basic gameplay was fun, but the fact that you just do the same 5 missions fighting the same 5 enemies over and over was mind boggling. Who the hell thought this would be a good idea? Some other games like this I've been obsessed with are Funko Fusion, Outlaws, and Skull and Bones. I want them to fail, and I think my interest is so high in them because I was burned. When you are wronged, you want comeuppance. I used to be one of those idiots who buys everything, but my days of preordering are over. What's sad though is it's always the developers who suffer and not the management that makes these greedy and baffling choices.
After watching this video, I now see the game in a new light. It’s one of the games for PlayStation Plus this month and I decided to play it, I had fun playing through it, loved just how goofy the characters were, and just the general gameplay outside of missions and it’s a shame that the game ended up being bad. I would love to see a rebuild of the game much like Cyberpunk had in order to make the game what it really was supposed to be. Also just stating, I’m a simpleton when it comes to games, I don’t look for a whole lot in them but a fun factor.
I actually enjoyed the story mode overall. I wish the added seasons had a little more story in them to give purpose to the missions. The Lawless season was a little closer to what I wanted. I’m sad we won’t get the full ride but I guess I can’t say I didn’t see it coming

The feeling of one of your favorite studios being shut down is deeply complex. On one hand, it is sad, you grew up playing their games, but on the other hand, it is almost relieving for it to finally be officially over. In many cases these studios are alive still in name only, pumping out cash grabs fueled by past glories. To some degree this process is made easier because often, as you said, the new management resets, if not outright dislikes older fans of the company. They're just in the way, they keep bringing up the company's old games, they don't like our new Vision. Being old is seeing all of my favorite studios become husks of themselves and eventually close down.
This was so disappointing for me. Coming off the back of a slightly less disappointing Gotham Knights. Also a mortal kombat fan, so WB has quickly grown into a company I dislike….. just sad. Know your audience

I love that the idea of the Suicide Squad driving custom vehicles around was cut because it didn't make sense, but giving every one of them guns and extreme aerial mobility and building the entire game around THAT made it in.
I find that Deathstroke’s character design looks funny too. He looks like a guy moving around in a green morph suit that has lost interest in movement.
It would've been better if they had a death stroke from the beginning, had Lex Luthor as a character, Gorilla Grog or Bizzarro reverse flash, or even a peacemaker.
I hope the servers don't go offline anytime soon. I have four battle passes to complete. I know they said they're not releasing anymore content but from what I've read they said the servers will be online for the foreseeable future. Especially after it becoming free on PlayStation today and all the sales recently. A lot of people will just be playing it for the first time today
The thing about a Live Service Game, and about Looter Shooters, is that they need a lot of content and a lot of variety. You're expected by the game design and mechanics to need hundreds to thousands of weapons, most of them disposable, so that the player is encouraged to make and chase builds, and for the live service aspect you need them to stay logged in and playing together to show off their shiny in store cosmetics. Like, they really should've had more characters, made them more distinct, and offered more distinct playstyles. Like 12 characters at launch, with 4 unlocked during main story, 4 post game, and then the update characters to come later. The next update characters shouldn't have been at the end of a long grind when they were released. And they really needed a lot more varied bosses if they were going to repeat them.

They just been releasing what was already done, maybe to recover some of the financial disaster and because, well, was already finished, so, why not release it. This shutdown is not surprising. It's not even worth it playing offline. The story and boss fights still suck and the repetitive missions make the gameplay absolutely mundane. You're better off playing Borderlands if you're going to be playing a looter shooter with an offline mode...

To be fair they said they intended to add it right after release over 9 months ago. It just makes sense to release it once content will no longer be released. It probably took them longer with the skeleton crew left.
@@UnluckyHydra It doesnt make sense actually. Game shouldve been built up from the ground up. Couldve helped it for portable steam deck users for example, people with worse internet etc. If its not mandatory, its just in the way
@TheUltimateHacker007 I don't know what to tell you, especially because I'm not part of the team. Most GAaS require an online connection. I don't like it either, but getting an offline mode at all the best it was ever going to be when the team got quickly reduced to a skelton crew. I'm sure they put it on the backburner to try to get bug fixes and the additional characters pushed out.

@2:57 is a super cheap fake out. Yes I get that it's supposed to be a cutout of batman, but if you pause and look at the shadow it has full definition, armor, muscles and everything. It's clearly the actual batman model that is placed there. Like you can clearly see his armor reflecting the light and all the shadows playing across batman before it lights up the room and "haha" it's just a cutout

Now that they added an offline mode I would have picked this up, then I remember the character designs and I wouldn´t play it for free.
I bought it for 3 dollars. The game (outside the story and characters) is not that bad. I can't imagine how this could cost 60 millions, let alone 200. It plays like an indie with good animations

I know WB Monteal made Arkham Origins, but that game ends with Waller approaching Deathstroke in prison to recruit him. Somehow he ended up as an afterthought.
It’s still wild to me that we never got to fully save Batman, which feels terrible after how they delt with that character. Like 1 season before we fully play Batman the game gets its support cut; makes you wonder why they didn’t do Batman’s redemption arc first

I think adult me is happy it failed but my inner child is sad it had to fail. When I was younger my family couldn't afford video games that often so I would play the Arkham Asylum demo on 360 over and over. I think in his eyes he could never see the studio that made him feel that way for a demo grow as a studio and fail miserably, because he WANTED SSKTJL to make him feel that same way again.
The game was on 90-95% sale and I was thinking to buy it for ~$5. After looking at this, I'm so damn glad I didnt pull the trigger and buy it. This game owes me money for how much time I've spent on it via TH-camrs.

So based off of the cinematic I saw they basically wiped away that 13 braniac plan but just saying Deathstroke solo'd a bunch of them? Lol that's both awesome and pathetic. Not to mention that it makes both the JL and SS look like absolute chumps. Let me also get this straight. Batman with a conscience beat Slade so bad he spent years obsessed over it, found his happy place and then killed the big baddie multiple times by himself but an evil Batman uninhibited by his no kill rules ends up with a hole in his head tied up to a park bench by the SS? LOL talk about crappy power scaling.

You mention the interest we have in this game and it's something I've been thinking a lot about. This year had some real stinkers, and I find myself weirdly obsessed with them, the same way you would watch a car crash. I bought this on launch week and ended up trading it in after the 1st season. The basic gameplay was fun, but the fact that you just do the same 5 missions fighting the same 5 enemies over and over was mind boggling. Who the hell thought this would be a good idea? Some other games like this I've been obsessed with are Funko Fusion, Outlaws, and Skull and Bones. I want them to fail, and I think my interest is so high in them because I was burned. When you are wronged, you want comeuppance. I used to be one of those idiots who buys everything, but my days of preordering are over. What's sad though is it's always the developers who suffer and not the management that makes these greedy and baffling choices.
After watching this video, I now see the game in a new light. It’s one of the games for PlayStation Plus this month and I decided to play it, I had fun playing through it, loved just how goofy the characters were, and just the general gameplay outside of missions and it’s a shame that the game ended up being bad. I would love to see a rebuild of the game much like Cyberpunk had in order to make the game what it really was supposed to be. Also just stating, I’m a simpleton when it comes to games, I don’t look for a whole lot in them but a fun factor.
All I wanted was another Arkham game. Even if it was a reboot, i would've been happy. But no. a decade of wasted potential for this.
I actually enjoyed the story mode overall. I wish the added seasons had a little more story in them to give purpose to the missions. The Lawless season was a little closer to what I wanted. I’m sad we won’t get the full ride but I guess I can’t say I didn’t see it coming

The feeling of one of your favorite studios being shut down is deeply complex. On one hand, it is sad, you grew up playing their games, but on the other hand, it is almost relieving for it to finally be officially over. In many cases these studios are alive still in name only, pumping out cash grabs fueled by past glories.
To some degree this process is made easier because often, as you said, the new management resets, if not outright dislikes older fans of the company. They're just in the way, they keep bringing up the company's old games, they don't like our new Vision.
Being old is seeing all of my favorite studios become husks of themselves and eventually close down.
I know Concord set a new low for a GAaS failure, but Daaamn this is bad. At least they kept the Offline mode (A little to late tho)

This game has completely destroyed any confidence I had in Rocksteady. The creative choices they made are so devoid of anything desirable and the writing makes dog vomit look appetizing. This is not a team I can trust with anything going forward until they can prove otherwise.

At least the game ends on a semi-high note? Deathstroke looks good, and is the only character in the game to have dialogue that isn't the cringiest thing you've ever heard. I know that's not saying much, but credit where it's due. That said, this game got what it deserved and it will not be missed.
With all honesty I did enjoy the game particularly the story but I wouldn't see how this game was supposed to be played for the boring repetitive fights that were fun at some point

I love that the idea of the Suicide Squad driving custom vehicles around was cut because it didn't make sense, but giving every one of them guns and extreme aerial mobility and building the entire game around THAT made it in.
I find that Deathstroke’s character design looks funny too. He looks like a guy moving around in a green morph suit that has lost interest in movement.
It would've been better if they had a death stroke from the beginning, had Lex Luthor as a character, Gorilla Grog or Bizzarro reverse flash, or even a peacemaker.

I know they said they're not releasing anymore content but from what I've read they said the servers will be online for the foreseeable future. The thing about a Live Service Game, and about Looter Shooters, is that they need a lot of content and a lot of variety. You're expected by the game design and mechanics to need hundreds to thousands of weapons, most of them disposable, so that the player is encouraged to make and chase builds, and for the live service aspect you need them to stay logged in and playing together to show off their shiny in store cosmetics.
Like, they really should've had more characters, made them more distinct, and offered more distinct playstyles. Like 12 characters at launch, with 4 unlocked during main story, 4 post game, and then the update characters to come later. The next update characters shouldn't have been at the end of a long grind when they were released. And they really needed a lot more varied bosses if they were going to repeat them.

I went into this game Blind. Bought because it was on sale for the Holidays 2024. Enjoyed the story and the ability to game with a bud. I loved the mobility of Boomerang. Gun played felt easy but it was fun. While I was playing I was wondering “why can’t they do this with the actual super heroes?” Did the whole campaign multiplayer loved it! Rip
It feels like this game and the initial trailer were set in an alternate universe that wasn't the Arkhamverse and then they switched it to the Arkhamverse and now were stuck with trying to make it work
