Supposedly the Rev disappeared for 3-5 days and when he got back he had this song and almost easy written in entirety, lyrics all instruments, everything, just ready to be recorded... the man was an absolute musical genius. RIP Rev.

This song is literally about dying too soon, so he "escapes the afterlife" to go back to earth because he's got so much left to do. He'll be back "when the time is right"

Agree 100%. A7X is one of my favorite bands but I have been scratching my head with the songs you've chosen (your pollers have chosen) I mean...A Little Piece of Heaven? That song is wack lol.
@justinmcmillen6544 its cuz alot of us a7x fans think of alpoh as their greatest song (imo it really isn't there's a lot better like save me and buri3d alive) but that's why alot of commenters say they should react to alpoh but I also think it's cuz they really just wanna see the shock on people's face when listening it for the first time

The only thing you missed out on with the lyric video is seeing their late drummer, The Rev, singing his part while killing it on drums simultaneously. Any songs from their live at LBC set are amazing and show the whole band’s participation and how great they sound live!
He definitely needs to check out the LBC performance, one of their best ever.

I always took this song to mean leaving a relationship that he felt was too good for him. That's why it's an afterlife, it's like a heaven but not for him at the place where he was at in life. Not ready to settle down.

"Almost Easy" is one of my faves for karaoke. People don't expect a woman to sing it. (The woman is me, lol. There are no guest female vocals in rhe actual song.) Also, it features The Rev's signature double ride on the drums. 🤌💕 R.I.P. Jimmy

This was the first Avenged Sevenfold song I ever heard and I was hooked straight away!
I was taken aback by how happy the chorus is compared to the rest of the song.
The background singing was their deceased drummer as well. In fact he wrote this song (along with many others) and the manner of his death makes his own sung lyrics in this song much more chilling.
Fact: the one screaming “i need another chance to live” is actually their dead drummer/friend whom they sing “so far away” for
C'mon Lad, you were so close to that air guitar/conductor coming out. It's what most people do with their hands. A good air guitar contains the equivalent power of a thousand dad jokes, and comes from a similar place in your soul.
Also, tree pollen has come out a bit earlier this year with the blossoms, maybe that is what's setting you off a bit? It's catching me occasionally.

This is one of their bigger mainstream songs and one of my personal favorites. As always, the Rev on the drums and Synyster Gates on lead guitar just fucking sing with their instruments.
Another amazing one I recommend is Bat Country, crazy and fun without being too unorthodox.

Dunno if this is within context, but I’m someone who always loved the vocal aspects of music. I never could learn a real instrument for multiples of reasons, but I always liked to “paint” with the melody and rhythm of songs I could feel deeply. I’ve never been good at contextualizing my thoughts/feelings, but you doing stuff with your hands made me feel understood lol.

One thing that I don't see mentioned much in the comments is that the song was written by their drummer, Jimmy "The Rev". He also has some of the most incredible vocals on this song.
I think the most literal interpretation is the protagonist is having a near death experience (or some kind of Dante's Inferno type deal), has gone to heaven and reconnected with deceased loved ones, and thinks "No, I'm not ready, I still have more to do with my life, and I hope you'll let me back in when my time comes"
And as with any literal story, you can take away whatever metaphor adds the most value to your life and artistic experience.
I also recommend Brompton Cocktail! One of my favorites! God DAYUM Jimmy was a monster on those drums!
The live version of this is 🔥 they're always amazing onstage. Live at LBC is their best concert, you should check it out!

A7x is very underrated band. Imo especially the vocals of m. Shadows.
I get that someone may not like them especially for Shadows vocal tone but I love bend more cause of it, it separates him from other singers more. Never had issues

The lack of cohesion but a tale in every song is pretty much exactly why A7X is my favorite band. I love watching you react to the same things that get me every time. I've also never heard this version of the song so those strings came as a surprise to me.
basically every album is a 180 from the previous one which really makes the gap between releases feel small.

The break in this song is crazy.
This song usually makes me cry when I'm drinking. I believe because I've associated the lyrical meaning to a couple put in a coma, but only one coming out of it.... similar to Hollow by Pantera.
there is a big reason why this song is on there! in fact you'll likely find that many songs from this album find their way to your channel. Seriously impressive, cinematic experience this album, totally outside of any comfort zone for metal and for me, the most accomplished piece of work by avenged. Which is controversial when you consider everything they have achieved, but as a music writer, this is the album. plus it holds a lot of nostalgic value to myself through the best and worst of times in life. So there's a few metal bands that also play strings in the middle of all the guitars and drums. A band named Imminence from Sweden. The singer well songs screams and also plays the violin which I never thought a violin with heavy guitars would sound so good together but it gave me chills it was so good. And parkway drive also does the same thing and they perform live with the strings. It's fuckin incredible.

dude, this song was on like NHL07 and was my introduction to A7X. its still my favorite song by them. there is just something special when that chorus hits.

nobody is a bit boring to me but cosmic and the stage are both easily top 5 for them. most of the stage songs are also probably a good fit for him as well since they are more about concepts and a lot less dark.

Love watching your Avenged Sevenfold reactions, you really get in to it... love that.
They did a concert some years ago which was made in to a DVD (it's on here) called Live in the LBC - the sound mix on this concert is like nothing I've ever heard before and the performance on stage by the group is top draw.
I wouldn't expect you to watch the whole thing, but would you consider giving a listen to Critical Acclaim Live in the LBC please?? It's all over TH-cam and I promise you that you'll really enjoy it.... Also I know you enjoy lyrics, there are subs included so you can see the words too

I got a little disappointed that you didn't really like "So Far Away" (from what I could remember) but everyone has their own take and taste on the same song. Ive compared them to tool before. The different time signatures, the story telling, the performance, the straight up insane skill each individual has in the band. If rev was alive he would rival danny carey as best living drummer. Great vid Teddy!

I have had a lot of friends growing up that loved Avenged but I always felt the same way, nothing ever quite grabbed me as all of their songs have the same general feel to them and so it never quite hooked me. It's like all of the best generic parts of metal but I love unique and unexpected bands more often. This song is fire though!
Either save me or the stage needs to be next my guy. Those songs will fucking blow your mind 10x what this one did. Especially the stage.
