Yeah I see the big difference love the early bronco dang it thought I was done shopping for a while well we all know how that goes appreciate you sharing I love knowledge, and this hobby this is the beauty of the Hobby, Rock on
As always, great technical breakdown of both, mechanical changes and their pros/cons, as well as driver training, lol :) Really enjoy seeing when you post something new 👍🏼
Simply just beautiful, pause I've been telling my friend to stop using 120 mm shocks or a 110 mm shock even a 100 mm is no good. On my own home build rig I put two stage 80 mm shock which I can take to 90 mm. I also used a reverse output transmission on my rig for no torque twist at all. I'm not a fan of a panhard bar with my 4-link suspension. So I didn't do a Three Links in the front and panhard Bar. I ran four links in the front and no panhard bar plus no bump steer at all with Servo on chassis. I just sat down and figured out all the problems we have with the Hobby and did away with them with my own designs. Also I didn't put any plastic on my rig just hardened steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. All in all it's a great rig if I do say so myself LOL. But yeah great video and I really like the look of the Bronco. Even though when I heard about it I was like what another Bronco LOL have a great day and don't stop crawling
Would love to see more videos on your 10.3 bronco.i got mine used with a rc4wd metal roof and boy does it kill cg.so far I've internally limited my shocks and went with ottsix 23% overdrive and holmes motor/servo.slowly becoming my favorite truck.
I'm really loving the look of this little truck. My friend is running shorter shocks on his 10-3 jeep after he did the straight axle swap. The thing is way more sure footed now.
Hi Logan, only just watched your video on the Axial early Bronco, I was thinking of purchasing one of these trucks and after viewing your mod with the 90mm shocks I think I will. Thanks for the content your shooting locations are magnificent keep up the good work 👍
10 months later... I finally ordered one. I'll be adding a little weight the wheels and pen springs inside the shocks with thicker oil. Can't wait to get this thing on the rocks.
Nice video. Definitely suspension and tires for first mods. I can’t believe they haven’t addressed the clicking noise in the transmission yet. And they raised the prices.
I like throwing mechanical pen springs in the body of the shock under the piston/valve. It physically pulls the strut in word lessening to a lower mm shock height and has you increase your outer spring rate on the collar you’ll increase the strut length if want to. All rear shocks need to be firm to hang the wheel in a over a hole climbing up and side hill. It works really well you can buy the springs in true value ace hardware etc.
Great video. Nice footage, and good narration. Lower definitely looks better on all of the 10iii models. I’ve thought a lot about lowering my JLU, but the trails I run most are littered with rocks and roots of all sizes. I’ve found the extra clearance more to my liking than the improved side hilling and climbing. Those rocks I mentioned were always getting hung up on the ribs under the floor boards, so I added some steel sheet underneath to help the vehicle slide over. It has made a huge difference. I would recommend it for any 10iii.
I would do the same upgrade. Just week ago found your channel… scx10.3 bronco review. Great content, and i like your informative style as same time crawling with the trucks. You got there great crawling spots. Keep on working these videos 💪👌
Totally agree! The shorter shocks improve performance and looks to boot. I just got my Bronco on sale for $100 off regular price, had to pull the trigger. My first upgrade (free) was adding a line of weights to the wheels. Have got to keep those nice wheels with spinners and order new shocks. My second upgrade will be installing the shorter shocks since the high center of gravity and excessive torque twist are ruining my fun. Could you tell me what shock/spring combo you used on yours?? Also ordered a Marty McFly action figure to drive it. Thanks and keep them awesome videos coming.
I changed out shocks to 90mm axial shocks with old axial springs. Also changed wheels and tires to Dark blue bullys and KLR X4s to have that old school skinny tire look lol!!!
Hope Axial is paying attention! Great comparison video man. That thing looks exactly like a early bronco should with the 90mm’s, plus the the gain in performance. 👌🏻
Glad I found your video. We just got this scx10iii bronco. This torque twist is frustrating. Doesn’t all last Saturday at little Moab chasing it down the rocks. 🤬 tried a thicker shock oil tonight in that right rear shock. Still twisting. Gonna try the shorter shock when we come down to sand hollow in 2 weeks.
Yeah I really like the stance better sitting lower, but it’s been raining here all day, ain’t had a chance to get her out and test. This is Michigan been getting a lot of rain.
I am back watching again, just got my 90 mm shocks on, then I noticed the front driveshaft rubs right against the transmission casing it’s all Scarred up could be causing a lot of the torque twist have you noticed it on yours
Just ordered SSD 90 mm shocks for mine once I get it Hope they be shipping out soon it’s September now. ButYes will be my first upgrade again appreciate you sharing
I used to run my wheely king/crawler king with 1inch long gas tubes under the shock pistons so I didn't have to buy shorter shocks. The wk probably had larger piston diameter because no piston hole was blocked by the tubes. Maybe these crawler shocks has no room for tubes.
Great video! I have some 90mm desert lizards on standby. I’m going to maybe run some heavier bead locks as well. I did think about getting some longer bolts and moving the stock shocks down to the rod links. That thing looks ten times better dropped. What shocks did you switch to?
Hi love the video just bought one for £270 and want to change shocks like you suggest is it 90 mm hole to hole what make did you use and what shock oil should I use please
This was GREAT stuff. Thanks for putting it up and in such a consistent manner to compare the differences. I really like the format to appreciate the improvements. As for my first mod, being a bit of a cheapskate after dumping over five bills on one of these, how much can you gain only from underfilling the 100mm dampers, or maybe changing the oil viscosity, if that would help at all? I know the spring is the one that really gives you the ride height, but dampers can and do influence too, depending on how much they're filled, so I'm wondering how much of an impact this would have.
I just picked one up yesterday and it looks goofy as heck at stock height. I think I might throw some pen springs in… I know it’s maybe not the right way to do things, but I tried it on my Capra and it actually worked pretty darn well.
Hey Logan, cheers from Calgary Alberta, Canada. Great video, very technically informative. I stumbled across your channel, I now subscribe lol and like .. 👍 Quick question, I had heard about the shock situation on the Bronco, and you just put it to rest for me anyway. I am wondering if I need to be concerned with pivot ball fitting the new shock body upper attachment point? Thank you Sir.
What did you put on for 90mm shocks? I just got this truck and am not sure what will fit for shocks. Can I put Traxxas shocks on it? What did you go with? Thanks

You sold me. Ordering through your affiliate now. Great video. So refreshing seeing someone slow down and scale crawl.
Heck yeah, this is a beautiful place. RC heaven for sure I would love to come crawling there but I live in Michigan sure this is a little far away
Lots of great crawling here in Michigan!!!!
90's are the only way to go on this rig...and it looks so much better...great video

threw the jlu transmission in mine. all metal axles with portals and hyrax beadlocks for me, and 10mm wheel spacers. love it made it so much better

They were Axial 90mm. Yes lowering the mount might work. The spring retainer might bind with the upper mount though
Would it actually harm anything to just cut off the top mounts to make space for the spring cups?🤔

I haven’t tried that mod yet. Yeah let me know
Usually the first thing to get replaced is the stock servo they're usually garbage. Also the motor depending on how it performs out of the box.
I’ll usually run the RTR servo til it dies then put something good on it
