nothing has been solved, not scientifically , not philosophically, not by religions. All my respect to James Tour for pointing this out from a scientific viewpoint. But Jesus the son of God knew the origin of life, the purpose of life, and God's heart for creating human beings. If the resurrection of Jesus was real, then the birth of Adam and Eve was in a similar way. God created the science, If we would not have the strict distinction between male female, and the species.....people try to deny this distinction, hybrids that cannot multiply, one generation only. Male female we get perversion and extinction, plus the whole universe hates such development.

OOL needs to show how dirt, rocks, and water (and the elements contained within) can go through the various chemical reactions to produce the various building blocks for making a cell (the first living thing). 2. This is not what some OOL research are doing. They are using purified chemicals to do their reactions. If they tried to get the same outcome in the real world (which is where OOL would have actually occurred) they would NOT get the same outcomes, because of all of the contaminates and competing chemical reactions. *Some OOL researchers are being intellectually dishonest. And refuse to add a "scoop of dirt" to their reactions... I.E. reproduce the actual environment of a "pre-life earth" I.E. Claims "basic compounds" served as pieces to build the basic building blocks....but with lipids, before there was life to build hydrocarbons, would large hydrocarbon chains/polymers even have existed to be possible to *maybe have built the lipids from??? What would have been the "natural" source of long chain hydrocarbons? Polymers, especially larger ones made of many subunits, generally do not form spontaneously under normal conditions; in fact its quite rare. Even if they do, simple statistics of equilibrium/chance stacks against larger molecules forming unbranched as the reversal breakdown is always occuring simultaneously. Even with a low probability of a bond breaking, as a polymer builds length to 15, 20, 30 monomers etc, this low probability grows exponentially as this low chance builds up by having many more opportunities to happen. Also, having linear polymer chains with no branching becomes exponentially unlikely the longer the chain gets. Finally after all these general problems with forming polymers by chance and spontaneously, forming carbon-carbon bonds...especially in a specific location, is quite difficult to pull off on purpose in a lab with great equipment; so how does unguided chance do what chemists struggle greatly to pull off with proper planning, knowledge, and needed equipment??? Mainly the mechanism of C-C bonds forming hydrocarbon chains is free radicals, which is totally random in where it happens and which of the 4 bonding sites on the carbon atom the other one bonds to. So just by dumb luck time after time with no exceptions, this random process ALWAYS bonds in the place to grow a linear string with no branching? Really? Go into a lab and build a 20 carbon atoms long linear hydrocarbon with no branching from basics like methane/propane and other "basic molecules" of C-H containing molecules. How would you do that??? Further, how would that then happen without you guiding the process outside in a puddle? Don't worry, I'll wait...

In this case, it was a gene encoding the covid (SARS-CoV-2) spike glycoprotein to make it more infective in humans. There's a novel insertion of a short poly-arginine sequence (PRRAR) into the protein that enhances fusion with the cell membrane by generating a cleavage site for the protease furin, thus increasing the chance of successful infection. Mr Tour claims that this mutation, which is unusual and its source isn't known, couldn't possibly have arisen by natural mutation, based on, I surmise, the conspiracy theory that the virus was engineered in a Chinese lab. Unless he thinks it was an act of god. He does say that people shouldn't trust anything scientists say. He claims he's a scientist. We should draw our own conclusion about trusting anything he says. Now it's fair to be skeptical about individual claims, such as Tour's claim that there have been no significant advances in abiogenesis research.

Tour pretends to be scientist, but he's not. A scientist is supposed to look at the verifiable evidence objectively and make conclusions based on that evidence. Tour is a passionate believer in the Bible. As a believer, the Bible is the inerrant word of God. As the inerrant word of God, everything in the Bible must be true. Since in the Bible God created life and man, abiogenesis and evolution must be false. Since abiogenesis must be false, evidence that supports it must also be false. Same with evolution. If someone start out with a predetermined conclusion and they are not willing to challenge or accept the possibility that that a priori conclusion may be wrong, we can be surprised when such a person concludes that evidence contradicting his a priori conclusion must be false.

OK, I've confessed that Jesus physically rose from the dead and believe in my heart he did. Before I actually studied the Bible I believed EVERYTHING that was in it, even though I struggled with some of what was stated. But over the years, the zeal I had when I was young is largely gone. I've had years of depression and made lots of mistakes, and find myself with the problem that Paul described about being a slave to sin. I find I love and hate sin at the same time. I've prayed for release- and succeed for a time- but then always fall on my face! DR. Tour says confession and belief in one's heart in Jesus's physical resurrection saves us, but then I read in the Bible that "faith without works is dead". Then elsewhere I read how God is likened to a potter, making one vessel to save and one for destruction. Confusing.

There was a paper published 2018 by Edward Steele in the journal Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology, that essentially says abiogenesis is impossible therefore panspermia. This notion that there is no evidence for God's existence is not true. The science of Origin of Life is only answering one question- how did it come about? The biggest question of all is- developing the idea that life should even exist… Imagine the universe without any life forms, and let’s say, there is no God either… let’s say evolution is the process of development of everything- the question is- where did the idea of life come from? Everything in the universe is hostile to sustaining life, much less providing a seed bed for life to appear on its own.
I like Tour's perspective. I've heard him say the discovery of DNA made God all the more amazing in terms of discovering "that's how he did it." However, I disagree on one thing. I think they will never be able to make life out of non-life. I think you almost certainly cannot get life by assembling parts. They aren't going to come to life without seeding life into it from a living thing. The law of biogenesis has been empirically verified in science to a very high degree. Some people say, "well didn't God create life out of non-life?" No. God was alive and he "breathed" his own life into the creatures that he made. No I don't interpret the Bible as if God had a human body to breathe into Adam. However, Bible and science both support that they cannot get life from non-life ever ever ever. If they ever do, then I guess Tour will be vindicated and it will be a lot like DNA, not something that helps to prove naturalism at all.
You may be right that it's not possible to make life from non-life within the lifetime of a scientist, and that simply mixing chemicals randomly together isn't going to result in even a microbe crawling out of it. But that's not what's being proposed, rather that the evolution of non-living chemical cycles gradually and imperceptibly over maybe hundreds of millions of years acquired the characteristics of life today. That sort of experiment isn't feasible for the longest-lived scientist! And it may take that sort of process I'd also point out to you that even if someone managed to make a simple cell from isolated biochemicals and it started reproducing, you guys would simply reject that as life made by an intelligent designer, and not real evidence for how it began naturally. Which in your idea is by magic - "breathing life" into organisms. And you'd be right, it wouldn't be evidence for abiogenesis, it would simply be evidence that you can make life from simply ingredients. I don't think that's quite a impossible as you seem to think, because all the biochemicals involved in life spontaneously self-assemble. They've no choice in the matter, you just have to assemble them in the right sequence at the right time. We just don't have the nanotechnology to do it. It would be supremely ironic if Mr Tour's own creations were somehow used to assemble living cells from non-living materials. He'd probably have a conniption.

None of that indicates a supernatural being is required for life.

1. OOL needs to show how dirt, rocks, and water (and the elements contained within) can go through the various chemical reactions to produce the various building blocks for making a cell (the first living thing).

If they tried to get the same outcome in the real world (which is where OOL would have actually occurred) they would NOT get the same outcomes, because of all of the contaminates and competing chemical reactions.

Claims "basic compounds" served as pieces to build the basic building blocks....but with lipids, before there was life to build hydrocarbons, would large hydrocarbon chains/polymers even have existed to be possible to *maybe have built the lipids from???
What would have been the "natural" source of long chain hydrocarbons? Polymers, especially larger ones made of many subunits, generally do not form spontaneously under normal conditions; in fact its quite rare. Even if they do, simple statistics of equilibrium/chance stacks against larger molecules forming unbranched as the reversal breakdown is always occuring simultaneously. Even with a low probability of a bond breaking, as a polymer builds length to 15, 20, 30 monomers etc, this low probability grows exponentially as this low chance builds up by having many more opportunities to happen. Also, having linear polymer chains with no branching becomes exponentially unlikely the longer the chain gets.
Finally after all these general problems with forming polymers by chance and spontaneously, forming carbon-carbon bonds...especially in a specific location, is quite difficult to pull off on purpose in a lab with great equipment; so how does unguided chance do what chemists struggle greatly to pull off with proper planning, knowledge, and needed equipment??? Mainly the mechanism of C-C bonds forming hydrocarbon chains is free radicals, which is totally random in where it happens and which of the 4 bonding sites on the carbon atom the other one bonds to. So just by dumb luck time after time with no exceptions, this random process ALWAYS bonds in the place to grow a linear string with no branching? Really?
Go into a lab and build a 20 carbon atoms long linear hydrocarbon with no branching from basics like methane/propane and other "basic molecules" of C-H containing molecules. How would you do that??? Further, how would that then happen without you guiding the process outside in a puddle? Don't worry, I'll wait...

In this case, it was a gene encoding the covid (SARS-CoV-2) spike glycoprotein to make it more infective in humans. There's a novel insertion of a short poly-arginine sequence (PRRAR) into the protein that enhances fusion with the cell membrane by generating a cleavage site for the protease furin, thus increasing the chance of successful infection. Mr Tour claims that this mutation, which is unusual and its source isn't known, couldn't possibly have arisen by natural mutation, based on, I surmise, the conspiracy theory that the virus was engineered in a Chinese lab. Unless he thinks it was an act of god.
He does say that people shouldn't trust anything scientists say. He claims he's a scientist. We should draw our own conclusion about trusting anything he says. Now it's fair to be skeptical about individual claims, such as Tour's claim that there have been no significant advances in abiogenesis research.

Tour pretends to be scientist, but he's not. A scientist is supposed to look at the verifiable evidence objectively and make conclusions based on that evidence. Tour is a passionate believer in the Bible. As a believer, the Bible is the inerrant word of God. As the inerrant word of God, everything in the Bible must be true. Since in the Bible God created life and man, abiogenesis and evolution must be false. Since abiogenesis must be false, evidence that supports it must also be false. Same with evolution.
If someone start out with a predetermined conclusion and they are not willing to challenge or accept the possibility that that a priori conclusion may be wrong, we can be surprised when such a person concludes that evidence contradicting his a priori conclusion must be false.

OK, I've confessed that Jesus physically rose from the dead and believe in my heart he did. Before I actually studied the Bible I believed EVERYTHING that was in it, even though I struggled with some of what was stated. But over the years, the zeal I had when I was young is largely gone. I've had years of depression and made lots of mistakes, and find myself with the problem that Paul described about being a slave to sin. I find I love and hate sin at the same time. I've prayed for release- and succeed for a time- but then always fall on my face! DR. Tour says confession and belief in one's heart in Jesus's physical resurrection saves us, but then I read in the Bible that "faith without works is dead". Then elsewhere I read how God is likened to a potter, making one vessel to save and one for destruction. Confusing.
When a lie gets told enough times by the right people it becomes a religion! That's how Christianity started!

He put out a challenge and some questions, one of his 'questions' was 'specified information'. What specified information? No creationist can actually point out what this information actually is. It's just a rebranding of irreducible complexity and intelligent design, except even more abstract, so it's even harder to prove that it exists in the first place, rendering it harder to disprove. Tour is a good example of how cognitive dissonance can infect anyone if their presuppositional belief is strong enough!

Whether James Tour got published or not depends on what claim he was trying to make in his paper:
If he was simply passing a critique on abiogenesis - essential expressing an opinion - then he might get published but it would likely be neither interesting nor of much value to the scientific community.
If on the other hand he was making the bold claim he wants everyone to believe - that abiogenesis is impossible (especially without a god) - then his paper would undoubtedly fail peer Review because it is practically impossible for James Tour to prove such a negative assertion, and he doesn't have even the tiniest skerrick of evidence that any god has ever existed.
As good also made the atoms some powerful reading glasses must have been needed.

This notion that there is no evidence for God's existence is not true. I think you're conflating evidence with empirical evidence, though you might say that the impossibility of abiogenesis is tangible evidence that an alternative should be looked into.
Testimony is evidence. It's used in courts every day. There is also evidence for a separation of brain and mind.

The science of Origin of Life is only answering one question- how did it come about? The biggest question of all is- developing the idea that life should even exist… Imagine the universe without any life forms, and let’s say, there is no God either… let’s say evolution is the process of development of everything- the question is- where did the idea of life come from? Everything in the universe is hostile to sustaining life, much less providing a seed bed for life to appear on its own.

I like Tour's perspective. I've heard him say the discovery of DNA made God all the more amazing in terms of discovering "that's how he did it." However, I disagree on one thing. I think they will never be able to make life out of non-life. I think you almost certainly cannot get life by assembling parts. They aren't going to come to life without seeding life into it from a living thing. The law of biogenesis has been empirically verified in science to a very high degree. Some people say, "well didn't God create life out of non-life?" No. God was alive and he "breathed" his own life into the creatures that he made. No I don't interpret the Bible as if God had a human body to breathe into Adam. However, Bible and science both support that they cannot get life from non-life ever ever ever. If they ever do, then I guess Tour will be vindicated and it will be a lot like DNA, not something that helps to prove naturalism at all.
You may be right that it's not possible to make life from non-life within the lifetime of a scientist, and that simply mixing chemicals randomly together isn't going to result in even a microbe crawling out of it. But that's not what's being proposed, rather that the evolution of non-living chemical cycles gradually and imperceptibly over maybe hundreds of millions of years acquired the characteristics of life today. That sort of experiment isn't feasible for the longest-lived scientist! And it may take that sort of process
I'd also point out to you that even if someone managed to make a simple cell from isolated biochemicals and it started reproducing, you guys would simply reject that as life made by an intelligent designer, and not real evidence for how it began naturally. Which in your idea is by magic - "breathing life" into organisms. And you'd be right, it wouldn't be evidence for abiogenesis, it would simply be evidence that you can make life from simply ingredients. I don't think that's quite a impossible as you seem to think, because all the biochemicals involved in life spontaneously self-assemble. They've no choice in the matter, you just have to assemble them in the right sequence at the right time. We just don't have the nanotechnology to do it. It would be supremely ironic if Mr Tour's own creations were somehow used to assemble living cells from non-living materials. He'd probably have a conniption.

Either physical trauma, critical chemical reactions cease working due to outside influences like poison or they simply break down due to age. In some cases we have been able to reverse certain fatal damages (i.e kidney dialysis machines, artificial hearts) but we don't know enough to "fix" the subtle and balanced chemical processes which have been evolving for almost 4 billion years. None of that indicates a supernatural being is required for life.
