Maccabees talks about Purgatory. Jews believe in purification after death. They have the Yiddish prayer for the dead. All before Jesus. This is what Jesus and the apostles believed in as well.
This reminds me of the “Son of God” and “Sun of God” argument, not realizing words for male children and that great big star in the sky that we see during the day are different in different languages.
In the Rabbi’s defense, he seemingly stopped JUST shy of that argument. My guess is that the only people who make that argument are people that often forget that there are other languages other than English. Since Rabbi Singer is fluent in multiple languages, he’s simply too intelligent to make an argument that remarkably stupid.

It's true when I watch his comment about the Eucharist because somebody asked him about it and his answered is It's cannibalism that I was hurt a little because as a catholic we have so much respect to Jewish people. Thanks for making this clarification videos.
The other thing I find interesting is- and I know there are arguments that you can be Jewish but be atheist- does the Rabbi realize his arguments are the same arguments that atheists make against Theists? And do Protestants recognize that the arguments they use against Catholic Church are being used here against Christianity as a whole? I always find it funny when Protestant Christians say “Happy RESURRECTION Day!!” Because they believe that ridiculous meme created by atheists about “ThIs Is IsTaR pRoUnOuNcEd EaStEr” (again, a little etymology is really useful) and they think, what, if they call it “Resurrection Day,” they’ll suddenly believe that Jesus is the God incarnate who rose from the dead?
How would you respond to someone who is going to a church that defines Sola Scriptura differently, I have heard Sola Scriptura proclaimed and then defined in a way that I don't understand ( As the Scriptures as a Final Authority.) Also on the Tree thing, you should check out or do a video with InspiringPhilosphy, he goes into the origins ( I think but don't quote me, it was in Germany or somewhere) they would use a tree for theatre plays of the story of Adam and Eve. Again i reccomend you do a Collab with InspiringPhilosphy, A brother in Christ of a different sect however still a Christian Brother.
Purim is not in the bible but Purim is celebrating a biblical event. Lag B'Omer is not in the bible. The fact that an Orthodox rabbi is trying to make an argument against Christianity based on non biblical traditions practiced by the church is quite laughable!
I’d be willing to bet that his idea of Christianity is American Protestantism. Even now, I imagine most of his interactions with Christians are with Protestants. But even then, he has such a simplistic take on Sola Scriptura that I’m sure he’d induce many eye-rolls in most Protestant apologists too.
True, "it doesn't have to be in the Bible to do it" as in the celebration of Easter and Christmas. But... the pagan roots of these 'holidays' cannot be defended against.
@@tibo5828 These claims have been debunked countless times. The objections about the supposed "pagan" roots of Easter and Christmas are vastly overblown.
Your assessment of Rabbi Singer in your introduction was spot on.

Love it!! Keep it up on this series. I will totally be watching in the future.

Note on Easter and changing calendars: We've agreed to celebrate on the same date with the Orthodox (next year, I think).
I saw that, but I just chocked it up to “the calculations arrived on the same day this year”

Great response.😁
Great concept!

I’d love to collab with IP. But I’m not sure what we’d do.

What are the pagan roots of these holidays?
By the way, the Bible is very clear about the fact that you cannot choose to worship God in some way you seem fit to do so!
Exactly correct on the worship comment!
