I was so close to getting this, but ultimately went with the Asus G14 with the 2060 since I wanted something more powerful. But this is undoubtedly better looking laptop and I'm extremely impressed with how they handled thermals. It actually resembles a more curvaceous G14 in a thinner chassis. Great review.
Yeah man, if this laptop came with a 2060maxq or 3060 maxq and a ryzen U series chip (instead of HS series in G14), then this would be the perfect laptop for most people.
Great review as always, seems like this laptop still has some decent gaming chops and wouldn’t mind seeing more games tested and seeing how far you can push this.
Love your reviews! You strike an awesome balance between the wealth of information provided and the brevity of your videos. This laptop really gets my hopes up for the 2021 15.6 inch version of this laptop. Any info on thst one?
Imagine this laptop with Ryzen 4800H or 5800H. It would be a better productivity machine, since this is clearly not a gaming machine. Nice review as always.
My mom's pavilion 15 has a ryzen 4700u. It's cool and all but there's one thing that's annoying me. Whenever the laptop is in sleep mode, when i plug it into power, it turns on by itself. I don't know if it's a software feature/bug or maybe even a hardware defect. Any ideas?
Which should i buy Dell g15 5511 D560826WIN9B. This one 76k OR THIS HP LAPTOP and this laptop cost me also around 76k. Plzz guide me sir I m so confused 🥺
Hi, nice video/ review! On notebookcheck, someone said that with MSI afterburner achieved raising the power limit of the GPU, from 35w to 50w. Is it true? Please confirm
The low fan noise means means it would be a good laptop to hook up to your Hi-Fi system however serious audiophiles would want a dedicated completely fanless laptop. It would be good to see fanless laptops compared sometime.
I got the i7 variant for a 2 weeks. Everything is just brilliant except one thing. When my laptop is starting or when Im opening some app like a chrome or even settings I can hear some weird noises. I think that, it is electricial noises comes from mainboard. If I would describe that sound, sizzling or crackling will be the best words. This is not a fan noise. So Im just wondering did u have the same experience? And should I worry about that? Great review btw👍
@@BobOfAllTrades Actually I didnt have that noises first days. After 3-4 days I had a BIOS update which is Hp support assistant made it. After that BIOS update it appeared. I hope this wont make a problem. Thanks for reply👍
unlikely to see kind off business like laptops with amd this year.. the supply issues are still a big thing if you want to sell at a scale as soon as amd will overcome this problem (maybe in 4 years?! or even longer) the prices will bump up and Intel might have the lead back anyway.. (not speaking as a fan boy)
Both are basically an ultrabook that can game. G14 is much better at gaming, this is more built towards your usual ultrabook tasks (touchscreen, webcam, etc. definitely add to its costs).
Exactly what I was looking for but a 4k screen would be yummy 😋 🤤 perfection and it be under 1100 would make me hit the floor passing out from such good feature

Are we going to have an AMD version of this laptop?
I can’t speak for HP on this but I will give you some information that I have just gathered over the last year. The reason why many manufactures are going with Intel is for superior compatibility across a larger variety of software. Just using the example I had shown in this review I can take the slower Intel processors and they will mop the floor with a AMDs finest in my editing software.
This is not terrible. I'm not a huge fan of the H35 chips and if you spec it without a touchscreen its almost what the 2021 g14 retails for. But, better screen, good thermals, not terrible at gaming, there's a lot to like here.
It bugs me that both of those laptops are compared to each other because it makes me think people are focused on one aspect but at the same time I can’t blame anyone for doing so if I’m honest. I mean that’s me considering the communities that ultimately take part within this Bob of all trades comment section 🤷
The 1135G7 is actually a 15-28w chip. The H35 version drops the G7 from its name, though it has the same number of XE graphics cores. I see this as more of a business-consumer laptop that has unusually powerful graphics, since other machines in the same category have integrated graphics only or the MX450 at best.
hmmmm what should I take - ENVY 14 (*at a price of 1099 € aka 1323 $*) with an i5-1135G7, 16 gigs of ram, 512 GB ssd and its dedicated graphics card that can't do thaaaat much on that size of a laptop (60 hz screen, not that much vram) - ELITEBOOK 845 G7 (*at a price of 1199 € aka 1443 $*) with a Ryzen PRO 4750U, 16 gigs of ram, 1 TB ssd and the possibility of swaping ram and stuff... but no dedicated graphicscard... The only thing I might play on this is 1 or 2 rounds of LoL... but overall I mainly need a work device with decent perfomance... Please someone help me T_T I dunno what to do ... since both a pretty attractive and both got its undeniable advantages and disadvantages...
I think the MSI Afterburner is reading fake readings . As we know Intel and AMD both lie about their TDP. Intel's PL1 and PL2 are usually higher than their rated TDP
I’m waiting for this (or competing 14 inch laptops) with the 90hz OLED 14 inch screen that Samsung have said will hit shelves in 14 inch laptops in Q2. That screen would be awesome
This laptop has a low CPU and GPU tdp which makes gaming less effective on this laptop C'mon it's just 35 watt tdp, for a GTX 1650 ti, it should've been more than this
@@BobOfAllTrades HI BOB! Older HP Spectres had silver keys as well.. most of the previous Envy's as well. Most recently would be the Asus Zenbook 14 with MX350 from Best Buy with it's silver keys as well that also had such a weak backlight you could hardly see it at night or day. All great machines though besides the keyboard.. I don't need to "see" my keys when I type but I do need to "see" my Function rows and I ended up hitting the wrong keys because of the glare against silver keys in normal office lighting/day light.
Seems like a great laptop I just don't see the price making sense. Laptops like this need to be much cheaper to compete with the specs of gaming laptops.
Like Bob said, there's more to laptops than specs. Gaming laptops typically cut a lot of corners to fit in the specs they carry. Things like a good screen (good brightness, color accuracy, non-standard aspect ratios, and a touch screen), good speakers, solid chassis materials (most cost-efficient gaming laptops have a plastic chassis), good trackpad (glass trackpads are more expensive), bigger battery, good webcam and mic (plus IR cameras for windows hello), etc. all add up to a much better user experience for someone who just won't appreciate the value of a beefy dGPU. Even something like the G14 that does better than most gaming laptops in these departments without costing a fortune, still has a good number of corners cut to get where it's at. (I like mine but I do miss some features from my Envy 15).
thank you for mention the flicker-free display, my number one priority in a Laptop.
Thanks for review. Amazing laptop, mine is arriving this friday.
Awesome!
You keep raising the bar on quality man. Great review
This is the laptop I recommended to a friend recently. “Laptop life” is spot on. Most people don’t care about the specs as they do the EXPERIENCE.

But it would have to be ryzen 4000 because 5000 is always out of stock
Bro you’re so me. I got the g14 with a 3060 and I don’t regret it! Especially for the price to performance ratio
high quality video mate!
0:33 to be fair this 11th gen "low power" cpu looks more like a true implementation of that NUC M15 reference design, stable 35W is rare af

4:08 That area, that tiny sliver, right below the HDMI port looks kinda bent and weird.
I noticed that too! With this being a review unit who knows how many places it was at before it got to me.
Not only that, the lid itself is also bent. It should be comppetely flat but you can see that the lid is a bit curved whem its closed.
