I am soooo happy for Alice. She led her team masterfully in the team final for Silver, just beaten out for bronze in the AA event but her steadiness has won her a very well deserving GOLD medal on beam. Congratulazioni Alice!

No help but I watched it live and it was well deserved. The Brazilian team also was scored unfairly I think, they did a really excellent job.

@@Ochan1991 Nah I thought so too but when I rewatched I saw she dropped her difficulty. She missed her main connections so lost like 0.5 in CV. Almost no balance checks tho, but played it too safe with the connections unfortunately

@@nicolemariebrown4076 that's not the point, the point is that D'amato won the gold and her performance deserved to be highlighted somehow. They didn't even show her full exercise, if it was Bile's they surely would have shown it.
@francescadelogu5969 if you look at the recaps they do on this channel, that's how they're doing them. It's like if you didn't get to watch the event is shows like a reel version of how it went. They did the same for the ones Biles won or wasn't part of. It's how they package this particular update. In some they just show snippets from the winning routines only and don't show the other competitors. I've seen them do it like this for multiple events...just the highlights

And yet Alice's performance is unavailable on TH-cam, Biles 2024 Olympic performances, falls included, are everywhere, even on the most important dedicated channels, which I can understand, but we are talking about a gold medal beam exercise.
Popularity, in this specific case, is more important than a real achievement I see. Biles is a beast, we all know that, but let's give some space to the others for once.
@@francescadelogu5969 francescadelogu5969 they don't have the rights to show the full routines till waaay after the current oolympics is over. I'm speaking specifically about this channel. Check the dates the previous Olympics full sets were posted, it's never while the games are stillnfresh. The IOC is very strict about taking down videos that show full competitions in the current Olympic year. I usually have to wait quite a long time to watch the full routines for previous Olympics.

It's about money and investing money into training athletes. All countries have done that, besides passion and will power. Not about the population size

Performance in sports comes down to investment and culture. Most developed countries have a huge sports culture and lots of investment at every level. This is why countries like the US dominate when it comes to total medals won.

Simone Biles is undeniably a LEGEND and one if not THE greatest gymnast of all times...but it's plain disrespectful how you would show ONLY her introduction and not even one from the girls on the podium LET ALONE THE OLYMPIC CHAMPION'S and put her exercise last after the three podium winners.
She is the GOAT and no one is taking this away from her, but other gymnasts deserve respect as well and to be celebrated for their victories. This event was Alice D'Amato, Zhou Yaquin and Manila Esposito podium and moment, they deserve their recognition and solo spotlight like team USA got in other videos.

they put all exercises as they athletes performed in chronological order. Biles performed AFTER d'Amato.

Because is the point in which the figures ended more or less... the beam was tried before by all athletes, the mistakes are very understandable , not seem nothing strange

Notas baixas para uma final, em 2008 a Jade tirou 15.300 na final por equipe, Daniele 14.925, o nível da ginástica vem caindo muito.
Na verdade o nível manteve ou até melhorou. O problema é que mudou muito o código de pontuação. Os elementos perderam em valor de dificuldade e foi abolido meio ponto dado à todas ginastas que cumpriam os requisitos obrigatórios da série. A nota de execução tb mudou. Agora são descontados pequenos erros antes ignorados. A falta de artístico tb é severamente penalizada, assim como pausas e falta de ritmo. Uma nota de execução de 8 pontos hoje, poderia ser tranquilamente um 9 no código antigo.
Todas las ganadora excepto la de oro tuvieron errores de caídas

There hasn't been a decent beam final since London 2012.
In Rio and Tokyo the medal winners were pretty much just the only gymnasts who stayed on, and in Paris literally only the Gold medalist went through without a mistake.

At 1.58 you can see for a moment what Simone Biles is in her soul, without all that pompous and undeserved superhero epic that her fans attribute to her. He's just a hypercompetitive person who doesn't know how to lose and hates his opponents. A true American hero

There's no such thing as luck. If other competitors fall, that's means they're not as stable or as mentally/physically tough to handle the challenge in the beam.

The gymnastics in Paris Olympics was a joke. Beam final especially An ordinary routine without falling off can win it. Judging was suspect on many other things also.
For once, I am so elated to see American athletes lose. Glad to see the judges heavily penalized them for their falls. There seems to be air of arrogance about this team, happy that Chiles' undeserving bronze is stripped too.
They aren’t arrogant minus Jordan and Simone being a little bit arrogant. Suni, Hezly, and Jade are super down to earth and humble. Even Jordan and Simone aren’t bad; they unintentionally come off as arrogant occasionally

Have you watched other beam finals? This happens often.
This became a common thing since FIG started to make difficulty more important than execution and artistry. Until early 2010's, most of favorite to win delivered excellent routines in final events. They used to be very confident.
Normally there is background music/noise at competitions to relax the gymnasts, to simulate gym training. There wasn't that on that day, so the "silence" threw off alot of the girls. Simone talked about it in the press conference later that day, if you watch it.
@@kenchi4789 FIG also created very stupid rules recently like gymnasts cant rest to perform their skills on beam. They wanted everyone become like Catalina Ponor or Larisa Iordache. Supposed lack of rythm is penalized.
