- Straight line power it cannot be beaten but does the MG4 X-power loose out when it comes to handling and refinement?

I've done nearly 3k in an Xpower (my first EV) and I'm totally enjoying it. Range is great, styling great, driving aids are great, Power is unbelievable but in spite of that it's not easy to get it to lose grip. 👍
I think that this car has a very nice design. The whole package is just incredible for the price.😊
MG for me, love the looks.
Glad you agree with me Paul!
We were already very excited to get our hands on this next week and now your vid has made us even more so!
What the heck is not to like. For the money. Nice review T
I bought the Xpower in that colour. It's currently at the detailers having a ceramic coat added.
It's a great car but I chose the byd dolphin over this. Reasons were build quality and dealer back up. I had an mg4 sitting in the garage for 3 months.... There's more to a car than straight line speed. Really happy with byd, really good spec and efficiency!
I've done near to 5k in my Xpower now with no problems and with loads of big smiles.
I am really pleased to hear it!
@AutoSocialUK Over 8k now , no issues and a lot of grins/missed heart beats... The xpower is a lot of fun. 👍
I am glad that MG is coming to Romania in due course, but right now, it’s not yet known what models will make up the range in Romania.
But based on what is / will be offered in certain other Balkan countries such as Slovenia, Croatia and Greece, I think Romania will get the MG HS, MG ZS, MG4 (including the XPower), MG5, MG Marvel R and MG Cyberster.
Note that Romania is in the Balkans, though a small part of it. But I do know that MG cars in Romania will be offered with a 7-year / 150,000km warranty.
Great review Tish
i love your review and that english accent sounds so lovely. this car gives you smiles per miles.
it is absolutely incredible that MG can offer us such a cheap car considering that you get a lot of car for the money and you get sports car performance which is absolutely incredible for that price. in Sweden the price starts from about 50 thousand pounds or 495 SEK.
Biggest drawback is UK doesn't get any interior options, light headlining or seat trim variations that other markets get. Makes the interior a dark pit....still no reading lights for the rear either. These things make day to day living with the car so much more pleasant.
Amazing work from MG. The front looks great and I love that colour. For design, it's just the square back which makes it look like a wedge of cheese like some Prius models.
I wish theyde continued the contouring round the back
I've driven both. For quality, you can't beat the Cupra Born, but for me, it's the xPower because the power is amazing, and I agree, it's what the Born should have been.
"Changing people's opinions about EVs." Girl..... you are spot on with that statement! Right off the bat: the colour. I love that racing green finish over Holborn blue. Makes it look a bit more aggressive.
Now of course beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. For me personally, for this XPower version I wish they made some changes to the exterior, AND on the interior. But though it's lacking in special pizzazz it makes up for it in performance and PRICE.
Around 430 hp and 600 Nm of torque is nuts! Now let me break it down. This EV, which isn't that heavy, accelerates faster than a BMW M2, Audi E-tron, Lamborghini Gallardo, Nissan GT-R, and that's just a short list. Plus, it's cheaper than those 3 German EVs, a Porsche Taycan, and even a couple of Teslas. I even had my mind of that gorgeous Honda Civic Type R with its manual gearbox, but the Xpower is even cheaper than that!!! And that's not even the best part.
Despite its obvious flaws, the MG4 XPower..... has a 7 year warranty. I don't recall any can manufacturer with an offer as generous as that!
So why should these rich and powerful Tesla, Taycan, Lucid Air, Audi E-tron owners have all the fun? This affordable speed demon is an EV for the working class! Excellent review, Tish!!!
Great spec at an incredible price
If it's going to depreciate like a stone like most EVs are at the moment, you may as well start cheap
im really glad mg listened to buyers by putting a rear wiper back on, but i kind of wish they went a bit further by offering a heat pump as well as matrix headlights as the mg4 lights are well not great in the complete dark
Afternoon Tish
Have fun continuing to ruffle feathers. Like your honest opinions.
All the fake leather reminds me of old style vinyl, wonder what the true eco credentials are for the fake leather.
I have a lot time for the brand. And esp this hyper model… SAIC haven’t half come into UK market and kicked A£se.
Front looks good but at the same time you get a cheap and nasty vibe from it also MG dealerships have a scary reputation for being incompetent at fixing electrical and software gremlins and them horrendous break calipers 😱 make it a no go.
This all is down to what you want in a car a scratchy plastics then go for a pre face lift vw id3 at around £28,000 for 8,000 miles on the clock or a bog standard MG4 which is cheaper ?, this X power is cheaper than the cheapest new id3 so I know what I’d buy even if its it’s used for a wee blast from the lights or just to overtake safely, the MG XPower is good in the wet and as good as any competitors cars at this price point
Do you get in a car and finger the plastics do you? 😂 why does it matter
@@XiCurtisiX to help with soundproofing use better quality of material not cheap crap plastic, maybe you should finger yours once in a while and then you will have your answer 😂
I’m buying one , can’t wait to get it . Those other car you mentioned are slow donkeys 😂 . I agree with you 100%
Drive it on the motorway at 70mph and experience the lovely unfixable vibration 👈
X-power every time
That is a wierd way to put hands on the steeringwheel😂
Great video, I admire what mg are doing. However those fake take covers are embarrassing 😮
I think you'll find they are not fake.
the orange covers are flimsy plastic over existing normal brakes@@mikemorley2797
The mg4 xpower eyes are almost as beautiful as your eyes 😂
What happened to round steering wheels?
In getting 1 in 2 months time - love the styling until you look at the back
I love the back as well!! The lights are super cool!
Do you get matrix headlights on the x-power ?
M-otoring G-enius🧐🧐
Nice car. Pitty MG have nothing to do with Longbridge anymore. But why do we need that much power with speed limits coming down. The MGB and Mazda MX5 showed everyone power doesn’t equal fun.
Pure brand exercise. I wouldn’t have bought MG brand for a £1 and re launched as a mostly Leccy and cheap brand. And look at the success. SAIC have done wonders here and I see current MG as just that MG. May as well be called ABC. They’re not MG. Never have been. Nowt to do with the old lineage whatsoever
@@zzhughesdsame could be said about many car brands eg mini, at least MG didn’t come in and change it straight away like mini did
@@willsmyth639 yes.
The design is indeed Bob on. I agree. It’s a mash up other cars. But …… but works. Other cheap cars. Look like a Duster. No bad thing but they’re devoid of styling. This has styling
NEW MG4 XPower review - plus DRAG RACE against Audi e-tron GT! | What Car?
What Car?
Do you on X Tish lol?
I know I still call it Twitter too and always will untill its gone which is bound to happen sooner rather than later the way Elon Musk is running it
Forget how it looks , forget the price and even how it drives. The reality is that mg ownership is dire and focussing on its speed and saying it’s embarrassing any other car is hugely misleading. I owned an mg for a year and the experience is one I would never repeat or wish on anyone else.
Is this car perfect? No. But you're as close to perfect as a fella could want, Tish (imho)! ❤😘Looking forward to seeing the next installment of your "Travels With Tish" video (hopefully soon!). 🥰
You can be enthusiast presenting the X. Sit in it and drive it 70,000 miles might kill your obvious energy.
Are you missing some letters out that sentence?
For the price it's not going to be great but it's GOOD
Same could be said of the 2022 id3 at the same price as the MG4 XPower or MG4 which was £9000 cheaper
I'll give credit to this company for manufacturing vehicles, but I just don't like this vehicle at all. There's nothing I can say about this vehicle that's impressive, not even the interior.
The acceleration?
A bit like your comments.
The price?
I'd have one any day if I was a driver
Who says Britain cant build EVs 😂😂😢😮
My favourite BUTTON is not in the car!❤😅
It looks cheap inside, the door panels and the dashboard are too plastic i think!
Hell will freeze over before I buy a chinese spymobile.
Imagine thinking you're doing anything worth the chinese spying on. The self delusion is real here folks >
@@ruddaga82spying on the national grid you clown
ROFL.. you'd better get rid of all your electrical equipment then as they will all have Chinese components
@@rtfazeberdee3519 What argument are you making? Are you saying that an adversary totalitarian state doesn't spy on UK infrastructure and citizens, or that it does, but you don't care, and like the grown man with the nintendo mii avatar you find it a good subject for humour?
@@R4STABAN i thought that was obvious - if you think their cars are spyware, the you should also be aware that virtually everything thing electrical will have a Chinese component in it and it you don;t want to wear a tin foil hat, you should get rid of all your electrical equipment including phones, computers etc.
