McClintock is my favorite John Wayne movie, and let's face it : you can't replace John Wayne 😉 I can't think of any of the movies I've seen that I'd like to see remade. 🤔 I really like the braid block. Your fabrics are beautiful. Thank you for sharing
Hello! I hope you had a joyful day! I was visiting my grandkids and all 3 of them tired me out in a happy way! I hope you have a gentle and kind week ahead! Thank you for sharing your video and your talent.
hahahahaah, Eric, I'm at work, and watching you in the background and when you started doing the bend and snap thing I burst our laughing. I can't remain incognito at work if you do that you know, lol, thanks for the great laugh
RED SHIRTS "is a space adventure by science fiction writer John Scalzi that capitalizes on tropes from Star Trek and similar television series." Very funny. About the video, I think it is genius to use this 'block' as a filler. Way to go!
Hi Eric, I can't wait to put all these blocks together🙄 there might be some choice words coming from my sewing room while working on that😁 . Hopefully you will help us through and make it easy as possible.❤ Love the braid block ,you made that easy💖 Seriously, I have fun every time I sew with you. Thank you so much for your videos and for your QAL! Oh the movie remake I would like to see is The Ghost and Mrs. Muir! Have a great day!
Hi Roxy! GUUURRRL...there are already some choice words coming outta my mouth when I start laying out the quilt top! Thats partially why I had to turn the sound off on the first portion of the video where you see me putting all the blocks on the design wall. I am glad you are enjoying this series. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Hi Eric 😊 l love doing the braid block or panel your fabric is gorgeous 😍 the braid block is so forgiving 🙂 because if it's too short just add a few more pieces 👍😀 Eric you should sing 🎶 a lot more your voice is nice 😀, l'm a big John Wayne fan 💖 love all his movies 🎬 l'd like to see a remake of The Sound Of Music 🎶 😃 l so love musicals 🥰 and you can't beat those Minions 🥰😄🤣 so funny 👍l never thought to put a small strip down the bias edge 👍😀💖 l always enjoy watching your videos Eric 😍 thankyou for sharing 👍now you take care and l hope you have a great week 🥰🌸🤗💕.🌼Daisy Dale from downunder 🐨 🦘 Australia.
Hi Dale! I am surprised that there are quite a few John Wayne fans. Honestly I am not a huge John Wayne fan, but I love Mclintock for silly reasons. The Sound of Music would be an interesting remake! I remember a couple years back Lady Gaga performed the Sound of Music at the Oscars and she sounded amazing! Made Julie Andrews cry! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Lucy! Rocky Horror Picture Show...I don't know why I couldn't think of the correct title. I even dressed up once and went to a midnight showing of the movie...but was so exhausted and fell asleep. I never saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but I love the title! I will have to search and watch that movie. Thanks for sharing!
I tried making this years ago…failure! You’ve made this doable and I’m going to try it with narrower strips. I loved Ghost, but you just can’t replace Patrick Swayze!!! The remake of The Lone Ranger was hilarious but you had to be really old to get it.
Hi Barb! Yes you cannot replace Patrick Swayze! What is interesting is that he almost never got the role because the directors and producers didn't think he was the right fit. But when he auditioned with Demi Moore, the chemistry between the two of them is what sold everyone. In the end, i think it was a great choice. Thanks for sharing!
After I have trimmed the friendship braid block, I do a stay stitch around the outside edge at a scant 1/4 inch. Then it does not have to be taken out. I cannot wait to get started on these blocks. I have told myself I cannot start anything new until I finish the 5 projects I have going now.
Hi Carrie! Of course...stay stitching! I forgot about that. I don't do it very often, but it does really help to keep the block in tact. Most of the time though I left the fabric do what it wants especially if I know that I will eventually trim to size later. Lets get on the high horse and get those projects done! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Eric!!! Finally caught up, woo hoo!! First time making this block. I might need to make at least 4 of them do space them out. Can’t think of a movie I would like to see remade. I will come and edit this post if I think of one. Will a stay stitch work for the biased edges? I think it might or a zigzag stitch. See ya next video.
Hey Memoirs! A stay stitch would work. I usually don't do that especially if I know I will trim the block later. But it would definitely help on the biased edges. I am going to need a bunch of these as well. Thanks for watching!
I'm thinking that filler blocks should probably be made with similarly valued fabrics to avoid attracting too much attention away from the 'designed' blocks. What do you think?
Hi Sarah! Thats a great point! Personally I think it all comes down to what you think looks good and what your fabric choices were in sewing the other blocks. When I layout all the blocks, its just a hodgepodge of colors and values that when I added my filler blocks they didn't look so much like an afterthought but more or less like a planned part of the quilt top. But you do bring up a great point and it should be something I address. Thanks for asking!
If you carefully stitch the bias sides at 1/8" the block won't stretch or frey before you determine the final size. And you can easily trim or add later as needed
Hi Sarah J! I have never heard of RED SHIRTS, but then again I am not really a Sci-Fi type of person. Sound like I would enjoy this one though so i will have to try and find it and watch. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Kym! Nope you cannot replace John Wayne...you can try but I don't think it will compare. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lucille! Yup...Bend...and Snap! Yah I can't say that without smiling and laughing as well. Thanks for sharing!
NOW I get the bend and snap thing. That was a great movie. Thanks for the (belated) chuckle.

Ditto the call for more singing from Eric, the Singing Quilter.
Rocky horror picture show. That’s a good one to be remade. What about Chitty Chitty bang bang.

Thanks for sharing I haven’t made this kind of block before
Hi June! Give it a try; it isn't difficult to do, but can add sooo much to a quilt. Thanks for sharing!

@@TreasureHeartCreations IT's a NOVEL. Don't know how you feel about books, but this one is a hoot.
