@@NephelyDeBussy Considering it looks like it's constantly sedated like in the video and she said it's a high maintenance breed i assume the cat live in the best conditions possible with very attentive owners, it won't have problems with injuries or temperature control. Seems like the kind of cat who sleeps all day in his very expensive little bed while the owners shower it with gifts while he couldn't care less 😂

My mom had a Himalayan. My dad called him a breathing throw pillow. They are the most easy going relaxed high maintenance beautiful cats.
Teddy is a very fitting name for an almost unmoving and fluffy cat.

Teddy says it is hard to please humans. Be a little talkative, sing the song of your people, demonstrate you particular set of skills and they say you a homicidal diva. Be totally chill and they label you a sloth, a rock. So hard to please people. This is why cats don't try. Just be. Let the two legged nutters be enslaved. We just be.
But you can't be good at anything if you are that slow? Or can you? Maybe it would work? Some combos and reactions seem like they'd be hard at that slow pace but as long as you can react under 15 frames I guess it's fine
The cat is definitely stressed, that's why it's making itself so small. Its not panicky but its stressed and not happy for sure.

Removing all the floof on the body feels like a crime.
As an owner of a Persian cat, I get why they’d do it. For example if I travel for a month and ask someone else to take care of my cat when I’m away I’ll do it, because most people can’t groom a long haired cat.
Better shave him than let a poor kitty get all tangled and uncomfortable if you know you won’t be able to groom him properly
@@mashajacaranda807At this point if you're getting these expensive high maintenance breeds you should really be able to pay for an actual cat sitter who will given them the care they need. Not go for the quick and cheap option.
@@TigerheartedWolf listen, first of all I adopted my Persian cat. Yes that is a thing, some people abandon them because they can't keep up with the grooming, some breeders "retire" cats. I got mine from a breeder who didn't want to sell him for a specific reason so he gave him for adoption. So I did NOT pay for my Persian cat, except for medical fees. So please don't make random assumptions about strangers online and then judge people. It makes no sense. At least judge based on facts you know, not assumptions you make?? Anyway, I do NOT have a high income. But getting a cat shaved is not cheap either by the way.
Second, my cat is a sentimental boy. He has his favorite humans. He loves my mom and my former flatmate. When I leave for a long time I think he's happier with a human he knows over a stranger. If the human isn't great at grooming him, I think he's better off shaved and with a human he loves and that loves him and will shower him with pets and scritches. I can judge what's best for him because he's MY pet that I've had for over ten years.
@@TigerheartedWolf my family was pretty poor growing up but adopted a himalayan who showed up on our doorstep. put up found pet posters, got her checked for a chip and everything, and nada, so we kept her. dont make assumptions about ppl's incomes just because of a pet. expensive pets can 100% get abandoned or ditched bc ppl can suck regardless of income

those ultra flattened faces are birth defects (also done with dogs) that are constantly bred over & over for the flattened trait which keeps the animal from breathing normally through their noses & so deprived of oxygen.

This exactly and reminds me of my neighbor who has a pug but their pig has more of a classic tradtional normalized type face if that makes sense it's not horribly smushed in. Their dog is also the proper weight, goes on plwntly of walks and well active.. @@jdsciano

Teddy was born without fucks to give and no desire to acquire any.
My grandparents had a blue point himalayan. He essentially only paid attention to my grandfather. When my grandfather passed away from at home the cat laid across the door of the bedroom and swatted at the undertaker. Later in life, when it was just my grandmother, the cat would not tolerate anyone but her. He would hiss and swat at anyone passing by his perch, which was on the way to the bathroom. When my grandmother would go in to hospital for the multitude of health issues she had, my mother and I would go over to feed him. Then he would be personable to us.
“Personality of a rock.” …. But meant in the most loving way 😅🥰 Teddy is unbothered 😊

I've never seen this cut on a cat; Teddy has such lush beautiful fur, it's a shame his owners won't give him a daily brush.
I thought maybe his fur was just matted up (my cat had that growing up) but with him it’s basically down to the owners being lazy shits, sigh
honestly my first thought was maybe teddy is so lazy(positive) that he doesnt groom himself well/at all, which even with daily brushing im gonna assume thats difficult to work with

Or maybe there is a reason they cant do that atm. It sounds rough but in the end of the day it is just fur, it will grow back and it will probably even look better then before. It is like with human hair. I had to get mine cut down bc i didnt care for it properly, learned my lesson and now its beautiful and long again

I'm not sure I like the shaved look, though. Plus, won't he feel cold? What a beauty. I have never heard of this type of cat. I wish I wasn't allergic to everything. Sigh.
I don't like that lion cut either. It's like those silly clips they give to poodles. Years ago, a good friend had Persians and I took care of them occasionally, so I understand the work involved with a long haired cat, but I really dislike that shaved look.
Himalayans were originally a cross between Persians and Siamese, which accounts for their beauty and sweet personality.
I have a long haired cat, and we get her shaved in the summers to help keep her cool, as well as to keep her clean and easier to maintain (it can be tough brushing a cat this fluffy daily). Teddy probably lives exclusively indoors, where he would already get hot in all that fur. The Lion cut may not be the cutest look, but the way she did it was by far prettier than if she had taken off any more. It's really about practicality and minimizing the ugliness as much as possible lol.
I'm not a fan of the lion cut either. My nephew has a gorgeous rescued Himilayan who gets a lion cut several times a year; while I'm sure it's easier for both cat and owner to maintain, it just looks a bit...silly to me. Vanessa did an excellent job though, and so did the rock...I mean the sloth...I mean Teddy.
One species that doesn't look their best shaved down is the feline. However, it is so much easier keeping them clean and it will soon grow out again.

Teddy’s fur would have looked better trimmed, rather than completely shaved. The hairs protect the skin also. Luckily it will grow back. His fluff is part of his beauty. Hopefully his owners will change their minds when they see him coming home looking like this. Sigh.

I have a cat like that. He sometimes stays in one place, in one weird position for so long that I feel the need to watch for him breathing. He’s not a rag doll or a Himalayan. He’s just a run of the mill orange long haired street cat. He’s not sick or anything, he’s just… chill. He does like to play sometimes,and man does he have a surprising amount of speed AND endurance.
I’ve given him lion cuts, at home, completely by myself before. That’s just how tolerant he is. Sometimes he feels a little spicy and wants to play and bunny kick a brush or comb more than he wants to allow brushing, but that’s really about the extent of defiance.
His little cheek pushed up against the window 🥹🥹 what a sweetheart.
