I know Andy hasnt played Dark Souls 3 yet, but that game actually had weapons with special moves (they were called Weapon Arts) and this new system sounds like an expansion of those.
You're good bro. It will be a loooooong game because it's an open world game but as they said, this game is the most accessible souls game by from software. Bloodborne and Sekiro are the hardest ones for sure. So, you're good bro! You will enjoy this game, with stress but not too much compared with bloodborne and sekiro or dark souls 2. 👍so after, you MUST play sekiro, bloodborne, demons souls remake etc
On the difficulty, apparently both the DS2 and DS3 network tests were also overtuned in favour of the player, whether it's more health, strength or options than you would have at that point in the full game. It's possible there's an element of that here, so that's worth noting. Although, for the full game I have to imagine the wider breadth of tools will inherently make the game easier to some degree anyway. People also bring up the summons, but Souls always had allied summons that are basically the unofficial easy mode. But at the same time, I don't doubt that many of the bosses and tricky mobs will provide more than enough challenge. I'm just glad the magic and general movesets seem to be more varied, seamless and visually cool.
As someone who typically plays a quality build with my trusty Uchigatana, I'm excited to hear that magic will be a much bigger point of emphasis in Elden Ring.
Since skills sound like they're slottable in some way, I expect we'll still be able to play without anything magical. There's bound to be skills that are more melee in nature - stuff like the curved greatsword leap we saw in the gameplay trailer. And given that we have the traditional Souls levelling up, I doubt we're *expected* to invest in the magical stats or suffer the loss of half our abilities if we don't.
Stance break DOES work on everybody. It just takes more hits on some. Its like an invisible bar that u have to cut down to get the stance break, and u deal damage to that bar using heavy attacks/jump attacks etc. It even works on bosses.

That was a dedicated PS5 game that pushed the tech', this has to run on the older consoles. 60fps slightly prettier version of DS3/Sekiro is what I'm expecting. FromSoft's genius has never been in graphical fidelity or tech it's in visual design. This will be no different.
I just want to say something I would say I have a passing curiosity in this game. But I love Tam, Blessings, and Andy's dynamic and rapport on this one. I would love to see them on more content!

Tbf DS3 was basically bloodbourne with no sidestep/rally mechanic. Sidestep seems to be added to this one as an ability from the gameplay reveal. Looks like the jump and stealth are the sekiro mechanics they added and they brought back poise. I am with you though. I’m happy they just enhanced the DS combat by picking and choosing from prior games.
i just played the beta. got my ass beat by the golden horse for a half hour before i just decided to go around him lmao. I am terible at Souls games and had no clue what was going on but it felt really good and is pretty!
KF actually got me into the FromSoft bandwagon with the Bloodborne month back in January. Since then I’ve got the Borne platinum, got swept into Dark Souls 3, and absolutely loved Demon’s Souls Remake. Before that, no interest AT ALL. Trust me, they will hook you.
@@TheMightyMike692 Wow, that's awesome the genre has captured you like that. I attempted Bloodborne but God help me I couldn't get over the dated graphics and frame rate on PS4 and that kind of thing usually doesn't bother me. May give dark souls 3 a try while I patiently await a PS5 for DS remake.
@@NibbleMaster Dark Souls 3 has a higher frame rate using the Pro if you have one, and yeah Bloodborne was something I had to get used to looking at lol Like KF said on their Bloodborne dedicated podcast, it helps to be in a discussion or read about the game while going through, like wiki’s or talking to friends or something of that nature. Or if they’re not for you then that’s ok too!

The design is so amazing, and the animations still look pretty clean. The frame rates are the only thing that was dated for me. What looked outdated to you, just out of curiosity?
I agree. However, I feel like botw2 and god of war have the downside that they might feel like more of the same but better and Elden Ring might surprise people with its new formula. I feel that’s why Zelda and god of war 2018 also feel like masterpieces because they basically reinvented themselves within their space. Let’s not forget about Horizon. Personally, I have the most hype for Elden Ring because it feels like something new as opposed to those other juggernauts that still haven’t showed me something new. I’ve only played blood borne but didn’t finish it and only finished Demon souls on ps5 so I’m fairly new to the souls series. We’ll see what happens next year.

I've tried two dark souls games - gave up on both after a few hours. I love the setting and idea of them but they were just too hard for me, a casual gamer that doesn't have the time/patience to get good. I'm on the fence with this, with people saying it's easier.
In not a huge From Software games fan and was hoping that Elden Ring was going to be the game that gets me into it but, after watching the reveal, I wasn't that impressed. Maybe playing it is different than seeing it but it seemed too much like the rest.

I'm not a "must play on day 1" guy generally... but like God of War and TLOU2, Elden Ring is just one of those rare exceptions.

I like the way you can attach 1 different spells to weapon even if it came with one to begin with

I've never really had any interest in Souls games until watching this review of Elden Rong and I just might try to jump in here.
