    As a “simple pond”, I bet it’s nicer than 95 percent of backyard ponds. It’s a nice piece

    Great to see a simple, well engineered pond without all the baking sowers an returns that seem to be on everyone’s pond these days. Simply beautiful.

    Great simple pond with nice fish and a garden. Just goes to show that it can be done without having to be a scientist. I like the fact that the owner just feed 4 hand fulls of food a day..great answer.

    Excellent simplistic pond design! which aside from filter upgrade, stands up to modern builds and the test of time. Seeing this video now does not make me feel so pressured into making sure my build has all the bells and whistles. Especially when you see the quality of the fish, and more so your thoughts Tim.
    2000 gallons, interested to know how deep the pond was?

    tim can i ask a question, why do you use nexus filters and not drum filters, are drums not best

    • @TimWaddington
      @TimWaddington  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer Nexus. I have no issues with drums but I have always used Nexus, we install some drums and have posted a few we have done. However Nexus are no hassle which for a dealer is very important. You have to remember that 95% of my clients are not prepared to pay that much either.

    What’s the maximum gallon pond you reckon a 220 could cope with in this type of configuration Tim?

    • @TimWaddington
      @TimWaddington  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say they work best up to 3000 gallons but I’ve seen them work well on bigger

  • @003Darren

    Hi Tim, Thank you for showing this excellent pond. I was thinking of going down the same road and plan to upgrade my 20 year old pond and build a new pond with no bells or whistles! The garden space I have will only allow a 1500 gallon pond ( got to keep the wife happy) and will be square block build with a bottom drain using a gravity fed set up. I hope you don’t mind but can you answer a few questions! Can I get away using an easy pod or would you suggest I use a Nexus 220? Also I am confused with the pump! Can one pump on the outlet ( return to pond) also remove the waste or do you need two pumps? All the best mate.

    • @andymurton7404
      @andymurton7404 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to ask the exact same question Darren.
      I have a nexus 220 gravity fed with that same pump on the nexus return that feeds two underwater returns to pond. I just use the blue waste valve at the bottom of nexus to drain away the muck when cleaning, i like the idea of being able to pump it out though !!

  • @carlycat5372

    If I used your heating units , how much would it cost approx to heat a 2400 gallon pond ? I’ve tried to work it out as you said in one of your videos the input was 1.3 kw , but my brain isn’t working haha
    Also would you consider doing a pros and cons ( if any apart from cost ) video on here ?
    Kind regards
    Carolyn

    No skimmer? How does he deal with the protein layer that often forms on the waters surface?

    • @TimWaddington

      He doesn’t deal with anything, many ponds don’t have skimmers.

    We would really like to buy our fish from you but we are in Scotland, also would you recommend a Nexus 220 or could we get away with an Easy pod as it’s more within our room and budget ? Many thanks ,look forward to hearing from you.

    Paul Giles

      @TimWaddington  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Koi will try and destroy them

    • @leerussell1944
      @leerussell1944 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For what it's worth, a year after your comment, koi will only damage any fully immersed plants. You seldom see koi ponds with nice margins, full of plants such as iris, canna, sedge etc. Even deep water lotus and floating frogbit can be kept with koi.
      There's many plants you can keep, and improve the looks and more importantly the water quality for your pond. Why the koi community turn their backs on these I'll never know. I consistently get readings of 0 nitrate on an arguably overstocked pond through use of plants and a nice deep gravel/grit bed. Not to mention gin clear water. This is stuff all seasoned tropical fish hobbyists know and use.
