Coach Melannie, a situation I haven’t seen you cover yet: It’s more involved but I’ll keep it short and it’d be helpful to see your thoughts. I think my crush and I like each other but she’s not single. We haven’t crossed boundaries nor attempted to and we’ve become good friends but she shows me a lot of these signs and others you mention in other videos. Obvious I need to wait or move on but advice on how to navigate this would be nice. I really enjoy your videos and am glad I found your channel.

I have some perspective on the "friend zone." It may not always be a problem. My brother briefly met a lovely woman at church when she and her brother came to sing. Later when he began attending a local college to study Vocal Pedagogy, they met up again and became close "friends." He began to have more romantic feelings for her, but valued her friendship, and described her as his best friend, but was debating whether or not to pursue a more serious, romantic relationship with her. Being that I was 5 years older than him, he came to me and asked my advice. My answer was short and sweet. I said, "friends can always become lovers, but lovers may not often be friends. Furthermore, if she is a woman of good character, how much better can a man do than to marry his best friend?"
To make a long story short, they've been married for 38 years, have two grown sons, both in the ministry and 7 delightful grandchildren. At the wedding reception, she came to me, hugged me and whispered in my ear, "Thank you, thank you for giving him that advice. I was feeling the same way, but didn't want to make the first move!"
The moral here is this, if you don't share a set of common values, beliefs about life, spiritual matters and goals, then after the 2-3 year honeymoon period, the relationship can degrade into a difficult one. You can "love" (be infatuated with, or lust after, but not true love), but not really like them as a person, i.e., their personality, moral character, attitudes, etc.

I for one have had a personal policy to never date a girl at work, as I know that could lead to additional troubles, especially after a break up if that be the case. There has been however, a really cute, funny & friendly gal at work, who's demonstrated interest, via some "antics" she's obviously thought up, along with her general friendliness towards me over 2 years now. Even though I'm an older gent, we've exchanged #'s recently however, I also felt at that time, compelled to immediately let her know just how much older I am. She's now kind of freaked out, possibly with her just having ignored the actual age potential difference and it's potential troubles, prior to our "getting closer", and has now been holding back on corresponding. Now when we do see each other, it's lots of smiles and "Hi" from both, yet we both seem to realise that, although there are sparks, that there must also be some common sense. I'm o.k. with friend zone I guess. That kind of hurts, which I imagine will Always be the case if there truly is "something" there. In getting to know her however, and unbeknownst to her, I finally have learned and now know what I really need in a woman, or type of woman per say. I've walked around in a haze for years, seemingly with a huge question mark over my head everywhere I've gone, without a single Clue as to what I really, deep down desire in a kindred spirit and partner in crime. Several years ago this one girl at one of my places of work was coming on much to strong for me. I mean she was way too aggressive. I was both somewhat stunned and at first didn't know what to do.
I wanted to somehow deflect her away from me and at the same time not be rude about it. Then I achieved my desired results almost without even trying. It happened within the course of a conversation. She never looked at me the same way once that she FOUNDOUT that I liked watching Pee Wee Herman.
