I was in a multi vehicle accident coming out of Dallas Texas on I-35 at 6:30 pm during rush hour traffic. I was stopped behind a long line of traffic in the far right lane to exit to Arlington when a young woman slammed into the back of my car and pushed my car into the car ahead of me and her car went under a truck. My car was totaled completely. The woman who hit it was going 70 in a 60 zone and was on her phone. She said she didn't see the backed up traffic a head of her. She was in the far left lane and moved across 2 lanes of stopped traffic into the lane I was the last car stopped in. If she had been paying attention to her driving there's no way she couldn't have seen the traffic stopped way ahead of us. That's normal for Dallas that time of day on Fridays. She had an 8 year old child in her front seat who hit her dashboard. The child should not have been in the front seat to begin with, it's against the law in Texas. The young woman in the car in front of mine was planning to be married in 2 weeks. Not happening. The injuries I sustained were life long injuries. My intire spine was torn up. I had a serious concussion and 6 cracked ribs. She shoved the trunk of my car into the back of my seat. My seat belt tightened up so tight I was not able to breath with the cracked ribs. My steering wheel was pressing against my ribs and causing horrible pain. The woman who hit me walked away with barely any scratches. Figures ! But her child wasn't so lucky. Terrible. Careless drivers have injured and killed over 5000 people in the us in a year. You can be going home after work and suddenly your life is changed forever and not in a good way. All because of someone who had no business driving. To make matters worse, the woman who hit me didn't even have auto insurance! I guess her cell phone bill was her priority! I still suffer with severe chronic spinal pain every day. The accident before that one was in my home town of Wichita Falls Texas. A 19 year old guy was playing a very stupid and dangerous game of beat the lights. He admitted to the police that he was going 80 in a 30 trying to catch all the lights on yellow. But he didn't make it. The light at 9th and Broad turned red for him and he couldn't stop and he hit my vehicle right where the drivers door was. I was crossing 9th on a green light when he hit me. He was driving a dodge ram truck with a steel guard rack on the front bumper. For 2 years I couldn't walk good because my leg would give away and I would fall down. I fell down my basement stairs twice. Until I had surgery. 7 more people hit my cars while they were on their cell phones. I didn't even own a cell phone yet. People please DON'T use your phone while driving. It only takes a split second for something bad to happen ! Ask all the people who hit me ! If you kill someone with your vehicle in an accident you caused, it's an automatic prison sentence for vehicular manslaughter! Do you think it is worth that risk ? I don't.
What? A HD tow truck was SPEEDING? Say it isn't so. Those idiots think they're immune to speed limits or laws just because they got lots of flashing yellow strobes.
Heavy duty distracted tow driver has a boss that is really upset that his insurance rates are going to skyrocket and he will have to retain a lawyer and spend hours in a courtroom.
This is one reason I HATE when a big truck or SUV is in front of my on the highway. I like to keep an eye on things at least a quarter to half mile ahead of where I am so I a plan accordingly if needed. Being stuck at the end of a backup always gives me anxiety about someone not paying attention behind me.
Had a friend of mine who was killed by a truck driver who ignored and didn’t see multiple construction and “slowed traffic ahead” signs, and plowed right into two stopped vehicles at 70+mph. Killed two people total. He’s now spending time in prison, contemplating whether the text he was sending was worth it.
Seriously. I wonder if we're all seeing the same video feed. My heart goes out to everyone there--in the accident and responders. That trauma is so deep. How the responders face these events and serve the public is just humbling & so appreciated.
Probably need to require 2 employees staffing a big truck like that, one to drive and the other handles call information and navigation. I gotta think the driver was distracted while approaching the stopped traffic, possibly trying to figure out where he needs to go by text or GPS.
Although people don't give class 8 trucks any respect, distance or enough room to stop at times for this accident if traffic was slowing and this truck slammed into the back it means he most likely wasn't paying attention or driving too fast for road conditions to stop. He wasn't cut off. Unfortunately it was most likely trucks fault. Prayers to all involved.
I wonder if the tow truck was out on a call and the driver was checking his gps for a location. Just speculation. I see delivery drivers doing that frequently. In any case, a tragedy.
The tow truck driver will likely be charged with numerous attempted vehicle manslaughter changes. As well as being charged with vehicle manslaughter, since a driver died at the scene.
I wonder how the person in unit 4 that was only indirectly struck perished, but the others that were more directly struck did not. They must have been pinned somehow and everyone else was not.
I'm glad you included the details in your description, because i could not for the life of me read that sign at the beginning. You really need to work on your recording skills because frankly, they suck.

And no self driving car are not going to be the answer for many years to come. Every time I go somewhere I see somebody blow right thru a red stop light of a stop sign like it is not even there
Be sure to call Pantusa Towing out of El Paso and ask them why the driver of truck 24 (Antonio Zubia) caused this accident, and whether the rest of their drivers will be endangering the lives of other citizens on the roads. Also ask them how much they're gonna pay to help rebuild the lives of all of those impacted due to the carelessness of their operator, whom according to the excerpt from their website below, has almost 30 years of experience, which definitely doesn't show here. "Antonio “Tony” Zubia is a heavy wrecker supervisor. Even though he has only been with the Pantusa team for eight months (As of June 2022), Tony brings 28 years of heavy-duty driving and recovery experience to the company. "
It’s called an accident for a reason and as tragic as it is it is extremely unlikely this man caused this wreck on purpose. We live in a world where people can’t wait to hang someone for their mistake but then when they mess up they beg for mercy. Wake up people. We all make mistakes. This man will also be devastated and his life won’t ever be the same either. If it were you that caused an accident you would be hoping for others to have some mercy on you.
Just remember what you said here when you inevitably break down in your ford. Don't call a tow truck ever again. ask yourself what you could have done better to avoid breaking down.
@@Redeemed-10 The term accident is thrown around much too loosely. The driver certainly didn't intend for this to happen. There are often unintended consequences for bad decisions. If you are driving a vehicle that takes more distance to stop, you have to maintain more distance. Other drivers will often fill the gap you are trying to leave so you have to slow your speed to where you can stop in less distance. A tractor trailer combination weighing 80,000 pounds with all brakes functioning as required will take over 200 feet longer to stop than most cars when going 70 mph. That's with both vehicles braking at the same instant. Reaction time has to be added.

I don't.
Cell Phone Zombies + Driving = Above !!!
Tow truck drivers have never been known for their intelligence .At least I've never seen one at a MENSA meeting.
Traffic in El Paso is crappy as construction has made things interesting driving in that area.
Are these comments written by bots? WTF?
What’s on these People minds. These accidents are killing People. 😢
There goes almost a million dollar rig.
It WAS the tow truck drivers fault !
The tow truck driver will likely be charged with numerous attempted vehicle manslaughter changes. As well as being charged with vehicle manslaughter, since a driver died at the scene.
How are so many disracted drivers speeding into stopped traffic ? So avoidable except for the stupidity.
you said it correctly, stupid. YOU CAN NOT FIX STUPID.
Too much drug, booze and and distraction on the roads today. Zero regards.
Good thing they allow us the tools to Sedate ourselves from madness
That be my worst fear on the roads is the rear end or a head on collision. I constantly look back when I’m on the highway especially
my deepest condolences to the family's
firefighters have the toughest job on this planet
I wonder how the person in unit 4 that was only indirectly struck perished, but the others that were more directly struck did not.
They must have been pinned somehow and everyone else was not.
judging the fact car 4 as a older model pontiac grand prix didnt help
He has 2 very small children under the age of 3 I think. I saw a press conference she is sueing
I'm glad you included the details in your description, because i could not for the life of me read that sign at the beginning. You really need to work on your recording skills because frankly, they suck.
Leave it to a half-baked tow truck jockey to create a mess like this.
Man, I have seen so many of these as a Coast o Coast Trucker. I was lucky in Fresno, Ca. when they had a 92 vehicle Accident in Tolley fog.
First Class graphics on the HD Wrecker, Fourth Class driver
I'm so sick of watching incompetent drivers...
How much you wanna bet he was texting and driving?
Dollars to doughnuts he was distracted by a device
Would you considera lot lizard a device
@@jasontimothywells9895 Well....definitely a distraction. I thought by their name and all that they stayed, you know, in the lot. I didn't realize there were to-go lizards.
@@bobmahnamahknobmaybe his breaks failed

Hey Zak are you filming this?
Doesn't Zak work for KNN? That's not Onscene
Like fuel tankers, I see these tow truck drivers ( of all sizes with and without towing ) driving like maniacs...I think , like leo and emergency vehicles they think their privileged , whether responding or not
Jose wasn’t paying attention
So very sad too see. All the best too you all.God bless all your days ✝️🕊️🇺🇸
May God be with all victims, their families, the tow truck driver, his family and first responders, in Gods name, Amen 🙏
I guess Houston's not the only city in Texas where Tow Truck drivers drive like maniacs!
one of the guy who died was a good friend of mine 😢😢😭😭😭
im sorry for your loss
Prayers for family and on uint 4
Distracted...
Holy crap that's a bad one!
Hell of a way for the wrecker to drum up business
Horrible. I hope everyone is ok
Well ,apparently you didn't read the story
When are we going to return to driving our cars and trucks when we are on the road and quit playing around behind the wheel? And no self driving car are not going to be the answer for many years to come. Every time I go somewhere I see somebody blow right thru a red stop light of a stop sign like it is not even there
Looks like they will need another Heavy Rescue to rescue the Heavy Rescue truck from the scene
He is human. Anyone can make a mistake in any act in life........
@@joec6804Exactly! I agree with you.
One person killed, eight injured. Nine vehicles involved. Tow truck driver was not injured.
