The United States has stricter traffic and alcohol laws. However, I found that the number of fatalities and injuries involving car accidents is continuing to increase at an alarming rate.
The medics and rescue crews when trying to get a person out of a severely damaged Tesla probably have one thing they are worried about! Can they extricate the person before the battery pack goes nuclear??? If it goes while in the middle of it they can't do anything except back up and watch 😮😢 nothing today can stop the inferno once it starts! Needless to say it won't be a good ending for the person or persons in the Tesla. Im retired from towing for police departments ive seen way more than anyone should. 😢
What most of you dont get is, if he rear ended that Mazda at high speed, his car likely wedged underneath the Mazda, making it slide up over the hood, into the cabin area, of the Tesla, because of the cars, shape and design. Its explains the damage and the injuries of the Tesla driver.
Many people seem to think that because the tesla is so crumpled, it's a sign of bad quality. Which is a pretty ignorant pov, as it's actually good for tesla to be so crumpled, or the guy would likely be dead instead of barely alive. It also didn't seem like the damage intruded into the driver space even if the car is crumpled, so that's pretty much the best you can hope for, but the extent of the damage still looks strange. This can't just be a simple rear end, everything about the tesla is fked. Even the both rear wheels are off and there are side impact craters. It is likely that this wasn't the case of a tesla rear ending a completely stopped mazda on the highway, it likely happened as the mazda was traveling at fairly regular speed, and tesla came in at significantly higher speed. Likely over 100mph, so mazda got rear ended, and that somehow sent tesla into a spin, or tesla lost control and smacked the concrete barrier before rear ending the mazda. The impact to concrete barrier seems to have been quite intense too to tear off both rear wheels and crumpled the rear of the tesla all around. Looking at the placement of the cars, the mazda is somehow looking at the back side of tesla. And seeing the direction the fire truck is facing, it seems that after the rear ending, tesla somehow ended up in front of the mazda. It even seems like the mazda hit the tesla one last time before they came to a stop. So it seems that only part of the energy of tesla was transferred to the mazda during the rear ending, and the tesla driver got impacts from all around. Anyways, whatever really happened, definitely significant speed involved.
I enjoyed your analysis of the incident! That poor guy is in really bad shape, indeed it looks as if his car spun and impacted something else. You put it together better than I was able to… I hope the Tesla driver recovers and doesn’t remember this.
It's lucky for the pinned driver that his vehicle didn't go into thermal runaway from damaged batteries. The car could still ignite on its own hours or days afterwards from what I'm learning about these types of cars. I wanted one but not so sure now. I hope all people involved will make a full recovery.
In an accident that bad, there is a much higher chance a gas powered car would catch fire. Statistics back this up. You can die in a fire in any car but it's less likely in a Tesla than an gas car.
