Mine is obviously a loss, but empty acts a zero, and that's where the numbers come in. The square you click is the center of a 9 block square and the number indicates how many mines are in the surrounding squares. It's basically a logic puzzle that starts with luck.

It’s actually not just a plug and play. It has all of those built-in games, but it’s also a full Famiclone, complete with 60-pin cartridge slot. There are a lot of other NES-on-a-chip systems out there that they do it with, but this one is particularly popular with modders for portable NES projects because it can already run off of battery power.
If it wasn’t for the battery issues, shape of the controller and heating, this would’ve probably just went under the radar as a cheap little console that just... exists. That made way too much sense to the makers.
